CHAPTER HUNDRED AND NINETY-TWO
I was yanked up by the new guard roughly, making me look at him angrily.
My earlier act must have gotten to him because he quickly mumbled a ‘sorry’ as he tugged me in the direction of the King.
He'd gotten up from his seat, his age showing from how difficult it was for him to get down from it.
He looked like he was taller than this before age caught up with him but from the sound of his booming voice when he spoke, you could tell he was still strong. He was darker than the rest of the Draks and in place of the thick armour they wore, he had on a material I'd never seen before but it was sturdy and was made into a wonderful looking tunic for him.
The moment I was dragged close enough to him and his son, I decided to look everywhere else but his face instead of looking down.
I wasn't losing that fight but I wasn't winning it either.
“You are supposed to apologize for your unruly behavior earlier. Theorin was a great man who fought strongly beside me and you killed him in such a horrifying way!” The commander yelled at me the moment he noticed my presence.
His actions triggered my already frustrated mood from all the things that had happened as well as their plans.
“I don't know what I'm apologizing for. You starved me, made me trek for hours and then he decided to hit me for a rule I wasn't even made aware of while knowing how volatile my powers can be. I heard you guys enjoy dying for your course so I'm sure he's quite excited wherever he is!” I snapped in his face, my anger taking over the resolve I had earlier to be calm.
He had no business twisting the narrative like that anyway, and I didn't care if he knocked me out again. I was relieved that regardless of their terrible lifestyle, they at least kept their hands to themselves.
Everyone in the room was stunned for a few seconds after my outburst before the King started laughing.
“You've got yourself a feisty one here, my son. I can't wait to throw you a bigger party when you're able to tame her,” he said, clapping his back while the rest of the men laughed.
“Good luck taming a human woman, My prince. If you succeed, you'll be the Greatest in your lineage, apologies my king,” another Drak added.
The king laughed with the rest of them before walking towards a door behind his throne.
Everyone waited until he'd disappeared before walking out.
From this point, I could see that the room wasn't actually a room but a hall but this part was sequestered off, probably where the leaders held private meetings.
The main part was larger and there were chairs scattered all over the place like they'd just finished a session and the clean up crew hadn't arrived.
“Let's go,” the guard said to me and I trudged behind him, tired of the mess the day had been.
The sun was already setting and I hadn't had a decent sleep in the last thirty four hours since I was kidnapped.
We followed Aisen, my every step hurting.
It's not like I was injured so my body didn't have anything to heal. The pain was more mental than physical at this point but all the walking and being knocked out didn't help either.
I looked at the terrain as we followed him out of the hall down to through the town.
People paused whatever they were doing to look at us, their general and his captive.
I trained my eyes ahead, refusing to bow in shame. I wasn't like their women that could be tamed and no matter what, I won't give him the chance to tame me.
I'll get out of here before he gets the chance to break me.
Finally we got to his house, a large barracks like edifice that spanned many lands.
It was definitely a stronghold, that's for sure. If I couldn't teleport, I'd be so scared of running across the entire building to escape.
He led us in through a large gate and I took in the layout of the compound.
It was large, and I could see a stable for a different breed of horses, these ones definitely made for war because of all their muscles and a farm at the other side.
My eyesight was still sharp despite my tired state but it was making my headache worse so I had to stop.
He took us inside and pressed a button. Almost immediately, three women came out through a door on the left of the huge house.
Outside might have been dull and uninteresting but inside was quite different.
It was a three storey building and I feared being asked to climb stairs in my state but I could sense that coming.
The three doors I could see didn't lead to rooms but a toilet, kitchen and an office. I could smell the books in there and I felt drawn to them but with chains holding me in place, I knew that wasn't going to happen any time soon.
“Take her upstairs, clean her up and prepare her for the welcoming party,” he instructed them in a cruder form of their language.
It was weird how I could hear what he was saying and automatically translate it in my head.
“Yes Master,” the ladies answered him and came towards me just as he turned towards me.
“I know you still have a conscience somewhere in there, especially where women are concerned so know that if you disappear, they'll be hanged outside the city gates,” he said to me, his cruel tone telling me he wasn't joking. “Adural, unchain her and you two, under no circumstances can that thing on her head come off, you hear me?” He warned them sternly.
“Yes Master!” They echoed in response.
Finally free from the chains, I followed the women upstairs, my mind taking in everything as I plotted my escape.
Because I'm definitely not going to let my Xavier endanger our people just to rescue me.
