CHAPTER HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-TWO

We'd focused on defending every other part of the ship and forgot to place stronger guards in the command room.

So all the engineers were currently on the ground, and two had been confirmed dead by the doctors while the rest were rushed to a ward immediately after we'd come in here.

“Ah!” Xavier exclaimed, gripping his chest.

“What's wrong?” I rushed to him, guiding him to a chair.

“It's my heart; something is wrong,” he replied, his deep voice carrying pain that I've never heard him express before, not even when he was on the verge of dying.

I took my hands and placed them on his chest, and it was hot.

“Shi! Someone get me cold water!” I yelled into the crowd of soldiers and medics in the command room. “And if you're not a top priority, clear from this room immediately!”

Quickly, the room became less dense and water was handed over to me in a few minutes.

I fed him some and poured the rest flaming hot chest.

He slowly stopped hyperventilating and held my hand tight.

“Baby,” he croaked, his voice broken. “they've taken the heart of the ship

“What are you on about?” I asked while everyone else expressed radical degrees of shock.

“It's what powers everything in the ship,” Lyra-en responded to me, sadness filling her eyes.

“Sorry, I'm still confused. I thought it was Xavier’s mind that.. oh! He's the mind and the heart is an actual machine,” I replied, connecting the dots.

“Exactly. His Majesty tells the ship what to do and how to do it but the energy to actually do these things all come from the heart and without it, this is just a big pile of metal in space,” Zyx explained, making me puff out hot air.

I was beyond confused and even angry at myself. I sensed something and I kept quiet. What if they would have been able to do something?

“So that's it? We fold our hands and let them get away with it? We'll all die!” Lamin, the fourth general spoke up. He rarely did, but this matter was different, and fear was written across all our features.

Everyone felt defeated and I could feel them giving up.

“Another concerning issue is how silent they've been since they left. They are just surrounding us, not shooting or making any noise,” Lyra-en noted and we all drew our attention to the warships around us.

Not a single atom of sound from them. It was like they were all quietly waiting for something.

Xavier was still panting next to me and I knew he was in no state to make decisions or even talk. He was deeply connected to the ship, and I knew this would definitely have him messed up until something was done about it.

Hence, I knew I had to take control. Even if I was out of my depths here, I had to stand for him.

“Lamin is right. We can't just lie down and wait for them to come and finish us off. The guns still work, and our powers still work. Why can't we go outside with the masks and propellers we got and attack them?” I spoke to the six people surrounding me.

“Um, if they decide to destroy it, I don't think we'll be able to move an inch from here,” Zyx replied, sadness coating his tone.

“The thing is, I don't see how they're gonna just hand it over to us. So brute force looks like our only choice,” Lyra-en added.

“Or we can try negotiations,” Zyx replied to us.

“And what can we offer them? Our lives? They already have that!” Lamin lamented.

I touched his shoulder to get him to calm down. We didn't need emotional outbursts in this situation. Everyone must be on their best mindset. Well, as much as possible considering the circumstances.

“We can offer him an alternate version of His Majesty,” Lyra-en said, a bright light popping up in her eyes.

“Yes! We'll tie him up and tell them we want to go back to earth instead of this meaningless journey he has us on!” I added, feeling the excitement burning in my veins.

“So who's going to go? Obviously not you, your Highness, it's not safe,” Zyx said protectively.

“Sorry to break it to you Zyx, but she's the second most powerful being in this ship,” Lyra-en cut him off. “If anyone should go, it should be her. She's going to go with the story of being brainwashed, and the moment they took the heart, everything cleared up. So you want to go back to your family, and you need the heart to get it in the right direction,” she finished, making us all nod our heads.

“So who's going to be controlling the ship?” Lamin asked, still struggling to believe we'd come up with a solution.

“We'll tell them about Corbin who was imprisoned. He was your lover before His Majesty's jealousy forced him to betray his best friend and lock him up for no reason,” Zyx answered.

Our plans were coming together but Xavier was getting weaker.

We needed to do this quickly, I didn't even know where this was headed. If he got too weak, would he die?

I refused to entertain the thoughts and went back to his front on the throne chair he'd been sitting on.

I grabbed his face, sending some of my strength into him, enough to get him awake properly.

Although it only made him more conscious of the pain but this was necessary.

“I'm opening my mind to you and your Ky'rhan so you can get the details of our conversation, can you get in?” I spoke to him softly.

“Hm,” he grunted, struggling to sit up from his slouched position. “I heard bits of it. You.. need me to bring out an alter….nate part of me,” he croaked out, his words cut up in bits. It was like when Xy'thern was still getting used to being outside of his host's body and actually having conversations.

“Yes, are you up to that? And how long can you hold it up?”

“I can try but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to do that,” he groaned, lolling his head from side to side.

“Okay, that means I have very short timing. Make sure he's as sick as you feel; I need them convinced that you're very sick,” I explained, and he nodded.

“Alright guys,” I spoke up to the generals, facing them. “It's time; I'm going to go incommunicado, so if you see them flying away without me, shoot them down. Don't hesitate. I'd rather be dead than taken with those vile creatures,” I declared, feeling revulsed at the things I'd seen in their minds.

“Yes your Majesty,” Lyra-en replied. “Time to act a blockbuster movie. Make it believable,” she added with a wink.

I took a deep breath and waited for Xavier.

Hopefully, he'd be able to hold on long enough for me to convince them to release it.
