CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FOUR

“What was the meaning of that nonsense?!” Xavier snarled at a scared looking Koi.

But his fear switched to a rage that I was all too familiar with. Corbin had been like that.

“You were supposed to be bedridden afterwards so I would finally be the King!” He screamed, making me scoff.

“I threw off your little plan, hm?” I said as wiped off the blood on my skin.

“But I don't… how? You're just a human!”

The crowd behind him murmured their agreement.

“You've asked this question and for the brains of the leadership duo, you are not convincing me you were ever that smart,” Xavier grumbled as he took the water from the female doctor that has brought him drugs.

“So if we weren't a strong team, you would have destroyed the strongest man your entire species has ever produced?” I interrogated him, “my husband is right. There's nothing smart about you. Take him to join his brother in the dungeon,” I waved him away.

“I no longer wish to keep them alone baby, they will be tried by the newly formed council. It'll be their first test of loyalty to the crown,” he told me and I completely agreed.

Whoever was loyal to them would probably go the same route if we give them the same opportunity and they fuck it up like this.

“Well, shows over, everyone get to bed!” I exclaimed, already feeling hot from the crowded room

“Except the soldiers, get this carcass out of here,” Xavier added, finally done removing the animal and it's venom from his body.

I watched as his body repaired itself, slower than usual though but soon enough, the skin was very smooth and healed.

He walked up to me, a weird look on his face.

“Can we move to another room? I have a feeling that won't be the last one of those things,” he said and I could tell his guilt was beginning to settle.

He always did this thing when he felt that way where he twiddled his thumb and spoke like I'd bite him if he moved wrong.

“Yes, that smell I noticed earlier must have been what drew them in because the beast itself smelt like crude oil instead.”

“How do you know what crude oil smells like that?”

“I have over a million books in my head dear husband, one of them must have that information.”

He smiled at me and took my bloodied hand in his and teleported us over to a visitor’s room.

We had unpacked half of our things from the Mothership but it would be a long time before everyone, including us cleared the spaceship of its belongings. I still held the key in my chest and could feel so many ky'rhans gather around to watch it, but not getting too close.

The shield I put on it wasn't going to come off except I was dead.

We went inside the new room which was in another wing entirely.

I walked straight into the bathroom and Xavier walked in behind me.

I had half the mind to let him in because of the way my body was suddenly aflame for him but I wasn't about to reward bad behavior.

If I had listened to him instead of my instincts, I would have been the one with a Borui fang in my thighs and those toxins wouldn't even need to fight much to kill me.

“Where are you going?” I asked him, keeping a straight face.

A look of hurt crossed his face but I steeled my features.

“Um, sorry, I wanted to help you wash off the blood,” he replied, his tone low.

“I'm sorry too but I can't stand you at the moment so please hand over to Xy'thern and even he is not allowed in the bathroom with me. He allowed you put me in danger,” I finished and the beast didn't even wait for me to finish talking before taking over.

Then he began giving me that puppy face that I was a sucker for.

“No, this is a serious issue,” I stood my ground, “he has to learn, no, you both need to start keeping to your promises and until then, I'll be bathing alone!” I slammed the door in his face.

I smiled deeply at the groan he released afterwards.

I took quite some time getting the weird blood off my skin and then I bathed twice

I still pictured that beast and the crazy, scary sounds it made while I gripped it's heart in my hands. Although it wasn't direct, it was worse mentally.

When I got out of the bathroom, Xy'thern was growling at himself and hitting his chest repeatedly.

“Why are you doing that?” I demanded, confused.

He paused and walked closer to me but didn't touch me or walk into my personal space like he used to.

“We failed Luminari,” be croaked, holding in a sob.

It was obvious the only thing that could make Xy'thern break down was hurting me and the one thing that could melt me was the ky'rhan’s unhappiness.

I took him in my arms, sighing deeply.

Then I felt a wet thing on his back and I pulled back.

It was the blood of the Borui.

“I know I said you weren't allowed to bathe with me and while that still stands, I didn't say I couldn't bathe with you so come on,” I urged him to the bathroom.

I washed him off his grimes and then did the same to an apologetic Xavier.

But I didn't reply to him or give any indication that I had forgiven him

“Mia Cara,” he rasped, grabbing my face and forcing me to look at him. “I deserve all of this but please punish me with something else, anything else but your silence. I would go crazy if you chose this precise punishment. Please,” he begged.

“Fine, but you're going to have to start trusting me more. It hurts like crazy when things happen to us and it could have been prevented by you simply listening to me,” I said, explaining how I truly felt.

“You're right, Baby and I know I promised to ensure it didn't happen again and I failed. The day has gotten to me but that is no excuse. I'm making you this promise again for the last time. It won't happen again,” he promised.

“Well, it better not. We're in strange terrain even though it's your own people. But you're not truly one of them, you're a bit of both worlds and I doubt everyone would be on board with that. I'm not going to allow you get us killed just because your being hard headed. These instincts are there for a reason, okay?” I said, softer this time

“You're right love, we'll listen to it from now on.”

“Well it's currently saying you should come to bed and make love to me.”

He smiled like a happy cat, lifting me off the ground to the bed.
