Fake Baby Bump
Iris strode to the joint kitchen and swiftly made Ria a cup of tea. Once she was done, she returned with the tea in hand and placed it before Ria on the center table before sitting beside her.
“What happened? You look so stressed.”
“I am. I am so stressed, trust me. And I regret ever getting married to that man. I didn’t sign up for such toxicity. I regret snatching the bastard from Elaine in the first place. It’s like I took a huge problem off her chest.”
“Don’t say that. Jimmy isn’t so bad.”
“You don’t know him. Love with his broke ass for a day and you’ll know that he’s the worst human to get married to.” She took a sip of the tea and gave her friend a grateful look.
“I feel you dear.”
“Gosh, I’m so exhausted. And this?” She slapped her tummy several times before abruptly standing up from the couch. “I'm done with this bump. Let's take it out. It's suffocating me.”
“Right. I should’ve taken it out the moment you walked through the door.”
Iris stood up with her friend, helped her unbutton her dress, and unhooked the fake baby bump from behind. Ria let out a loud breath of relief as the fake bump exited her body, her flat tummy coming into sight. “I’ve been wearing this shit for days just to pretend that I’m pregnant and now, I’m hella tired of it. Imagine not drinking alcohol because of two stupid people. I’m done with them.”
“Have they given you the money yet?”
“Not even a dime I managed to steal 50k from Jimmy but it’s not enough to sponsor my lifestyle. That money barely got me anywhere.”
Ria glared at the fake bump that had been thrown on the couch and she again took her seat. “That bump is heavy.”
“It gets heavier as time goes by. The next bump for next month will be even heavier so that when anyone touches it, they won’t suspect anything.”
She nodded in understanding. The fake bump was the reason why she hadn’t let Jimmy touch her for months, using the excuse of making the baby safe. Right! She’d been faking her pregnancy from the start. There was never a baby and it was hers and Iris’ plan to pin Jimmy down with a baby just to bring Elaine down. The bumps and all were all fake, made of silicon and she had to change bumps every month to match the weight so no one suspects anything. Brilliant, right?
All she needed now was to take the money that she wanted and exit their lives for good.
“I forgot to tell you Elaine is back with Xavier,” Iris announced. “The private investigator confirmed it yesterday. She’s back with him in their mansion, can you believe that?”
“What?”
“I was surprised too. I thought that they’re done forever after the death of their baby but it seems that their relationship is as strong as ever.”
“You’re serious? She’s back with him? He accepted her back even without the baby.”
“I guess so.”
Ria shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her heart racing in unease. If Elaine was back with Xavier then she was done for. Elaine would continue living a luxurious life and she? She would continue being in an abusive marriage where she didn’t gain anything from them. What the hell? In everything, she blamed Elaine for dumping her leftover Jimmy on her.
“This is bad.”
“Very bad.”
“Then we need to make our next move.”
“You know that I’ll support you in any decision that you make.”

“What is your favorite color?” Elaine asked Xavier, her finger drawing circled on his nipples. It was the early hours of the morning and they’d just woken up but had been reluctant to leave their sides, not even for work. Elaine clung to him tightly, her head on his chest while his hands wrapped around her back and waist.
“My favorite color?” Xavier raised a brow. He didn’t remember having a favorite color. “Take a guess.”
“Hmm.” She began thinking of what could probably be Xavier’s best color. “Gray,” she let out confidently. “Your favorite color is gray.”
“You sure?”
“I’m pretty sure. You have a lot of gray clothes and most of your sheets are gray colored.”
Xavier laughed.
“Am I correct?”
“You are. My favorite color is gray.” If she said that it was gray, then it was gray. He didn’t have a favorite color before then but since she said that his favorite color is Gray then who was he to say no? And so from then on, Gray became his favorite color.
“I said it.” Just then, Xavier’s screen lit up from the bedside table and since she was the one closer to the phone, she stretched her hand and picked it up, intending to bring it to him but her hands froze when her eyes fell on the screen.
Staring back at her on his screen wallpapers was a picture of her laying on their bed, asleep, her eyes closed and her mouth slightly open. He suddenly snatched the phone from her and brought it to his side.
“Hey, let me see.”
“See what?”
She giggled. “When did you take that photo?”
“It’s not you, don’t bother.”
“You think I don’t know my face? It’s cute. Let me see more. When did you take it.”
She pulled away from his body and stretched her hand forward to take the phone from him but he drifted it from her. “Xavier.”
Kneeling on the end, she raised her hand further but it was all to no avail. He was taller than her and it was no new thing.
She let out a groan when his palm collided with her ass not once but twice. “If you don’t want your ass shoved on my face again, you better stay still. I’m a fan of jiggling asses like yours.”
Elaine rolled her eyes. “Whatever.”
“Anyway, wanna go on a date with me? An official date.”
“Ask nicely.”
He pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. “Would you love to go on a date with me, sweetheart?”
