Design Hall
“Damn, this is going to be a huge success. I can already tell. Look at these pretty designs,” Beth exclaimed as she dropped a pile of clothes on the couch in Elaine’s office. Elaine swiftly stood up from the couch and walked to the couch where Beth stood. She stared at the dresses and shook her head in approval.
“They’re pretty. Everyone is doing a good job. Look at this.” She picked up a design, bringing it to herself and turning to Beth. “I love this. Do we have the best models to rock these on that day?”
Beth nodded, her lips curled into a wide smile. “Of course.” The models were the first thing she arranged after the announcement of the fashion show.
“Perfect. Let’s look at the designs.”
Together, they started looking into the clothes, searching for any errors that they could change. They searched through dresses of different designs and sizes, all of rich fabric. Elaine had spent the last weeks organizing things for the biggest fashion show that her company would organize. She was both nervous and excited.
If the fashion show gets successful, that would mean a whole new door for her into the fashion world and she would go even more global.
“This needs better embroidery. Maybe beading.” She set a pale pink dress aside. “The employees will redo it.”
After checking the dresses and their designs, she placed a hand on her waist and groaned. It has been a long week of working. “Let’s go supervise them for the day.”
“Alright. I’ll return these.”
Beth gathered the dresses Elaine had set aside and walked behind her as they headed out of the office to the elevator.
Once they got out of the elevator to the sight of the employees, Elaine complimented them.
“Good job, everyone.”
They immediately turned to lower their heads in greeting. She walked past them, staring at the dresses on their tables.
“This is too pale, change fabric,” she ordered one of the employees.
“Yes ma’am.”
She nodded at a few, her lips stretching into a smile. She could already tell just how much success she would get from the fashion show. Her biggest dream was soon coming to life and she couldn’t be more happier. She stopped before a lady, her eyes fixated on the fabric she was cutting with a large pair of scissors.
“Don’t cut it that way,” she instructed, taking the scissors from the woman. “If it’s cut curvy, it’ll get more shape, you should know this. This is no ordinary material and adding more hip cut will give it more fitting.”
She bent a bit, standing in the position the woman once stood, and expertly cut the material to the shape she wanted. Once she was done with the cutting, she took a measurement tape from Beth and measured it before handing it back with a nod.
“It’s perfect. Just make sure the embroidery matches the color.”
“Yes ma’am.”
Elaine started her walk again, supervising the employees and passing out tips to make the dresses better. Finally, she stopped in front of a male designer who was focused on the dress he was embroidering on a mannequin. Elaine squealed in excitement.
“This is perfect, Joe.”
“Thank you, Mrs Romano. It’s going to look perfect on you.”
“Of course. You’re doing a good job, I must say. Everything is perfect.” Her eyes remained on the dress. It was hers, one she would wear for the fashion show coming soon. Right, you must be thinking in your mind why she didn’t design her dress herself.
Well, having a husband like hers wasn’t easy after all. Xavier had insisted that she had someone else design her dress and she must not stress herself designing a dress. Otherwise, she’d love to design her dress herself. But it wasn’t so bad though as her employees were capable just like her.
“You have a meeting,” Beth whispered into her ears from behind. “He’s here.”
“He is, already?”
“It’s time.”
“He does keep to time. Take care of things here, I’ll go speak to him.”
She walked out of the design hall and got into the elevator back to her office to wait for the new client who must also be on his way to her office. She got into the office and sat on her chair just in time for the client to walk in.
She stood up from the chair, her eyes on the man who stalled toward her. He was about six feet and one inch tall, dressed in a blue two-piece suit and a white tie that hung loosely around his neck. As he walked closer to her, she examined his features. He looked familiar to her but for the likes of her, she was unable to pinpoint where she’d seen him. Chiseled jaw, almond eyes, and dark brown hair.
Once he was in front of her with just her table separating them, he stretched out his hand for a handshake. “Nice to meet you, I’m Fred Baron. You can call me Fred.”
Elaine took his hand for a short handshake. “Pleasure is mine. Elaine.”
They both took their seats and began the topic of the fashion show.
“Like I said on the call. My company would like to merge with yours for the fashion show.”
“Depends on what you have.”
“Sure.”
He placed a few files on her table with pictures of the designs his company made. Elaine nodded at each flip she took on the file. According to Fred, his company would like to merge with hers on the fashion show for more sales, and merging the two companies would give them massive success. She was sure of that. His company dealt with male clothes and hers dealt with both but more focused on female clothing.
“These are good. As long as your company is ready to abide by our rules as we’re the one organizing the show.”
“Of course, Elaine.”
“I’ll send invitations to your company once the deal is finalized.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
She raised her head to stare at the man only to find his piercing gaze on her. Immediately, she returned her attention to the file.
“Anyone told you how beautiful, Elaine. I can’t help myself but compliment.”
She felt a blush crept up her cheek and her face immediately grew red.
“Thank you.”
“Any….”
Fred's words were interrupted by the ring of Elaine’s phone. She looked at the caller ID and a smile curled up her lips.
“It’s my husband. So sorry, I have to take this.”
