Share A Room
Well, as she would love it, the doctor came after Elaine’s meal and announced that she could be discharged but would have to be looked after properly. After gathering their bags, her mother-in-law had insisted on going with them to Xavier’s mansion and looking after her properly but Elaine had kindly refused her. She could come for visits but not stay. From the look of things, if she lets her mother-in-law stay with them, she won’t be given the chance to bathe herself.
Just a few hours after finding out she was pregnant and they were all over her like she was carrying a fragile egg in her womb and not a life. Her baby was a Rock, strong, and won’t easily get hurt.
Elaine sighed as their car finally rolled into the parking lot of Xavier’s mansion, stopping right after. She found herself getting out of the car immediately and heading toward the door already opened for her by the housekeepers. If there was anywhere she wanted to be, it was in the mansion, her home, her safe place.
“Welcome, Mrs Romano,” Grace and the other servants greeted, their heads lowered as she stepped into the house. Grace followed behind her.
“I heard the good news that you’re pregnant, ma’am,” she stated.
“Not really good news.” At least, not for her. She never planned to become a mother anytime soon. It was still a shock to her as it was to Xavier. They were trying to accept the fact that she was carrying their child and in nine months, there would be a baby crying and making everyone run around. Plus Elaine recently heard that taking care of a baby was actually harder than carrying the baby in the womb.
Gosh.
“It is the best news the Romano family have heard in a while. I’m here at your service if you need me.”
“Thank you.”
She climbed the stairs to her room.
“Can I assist you?”
“To climb the stairs? No, I'm good.”
Getting to her room, she pushed the door open, her feet stopping at the sight that displayed in front of her.
It was empty, unlike how she left it with her belongings everywhere. Her bookshelf was gone her stuffed toys and paintings. She stepped into her walk-in closet. It was empty too. Her clothes were gone, bags, shoes, jewelries, and even her dressing table was gone. The only thing left in her room was the bed and a few other things that didn’t belong to her. It was like she met it for the first time before getting married.
Rushing out of the room, she intended to go down the stairs when she saw Xavier coming in her direction. “What's wrong? Why are you running?”
“My…my room, it's empty. I can't find my belongings.”
He shrugged his shoulders, continuing his walk to his bedroom, she followed behind him. “What? Do you know what happened to them?”
“Of course I do.”
“Did you move my bedroom downstairs?” Distaste was evident in her voice as she spoke. She didn’t want a bedroom downstairs. She preferred having her space at a top space where there was less noise. “Xavier.”
Right then, the door of his room opened, revealing a whole different space that she couldn’t recognize. Her eyes widened as she peeped in, her belongings arranged carefully in his room, in Xavier’s room. She took a step back.
Xavier stepped to the said, giving her space to go in. “Go in.”
“Wh…what’s going on? Why is my stuff in your room?”
“Go in, Doll.” She took a step at a time, stepping into the space, mouth agape. Her bookshelf was carefully placed at a side with a couch, perfect for reading. His bedroom was twice the size of hers, thereby accommodating her belongings without difficulty.
Elaine stepped into the walk-in closet, clearly impressed at the manner in which their things were arranged. Were they going to share a room now?
She walked back to Xavier, her hand clenching the pink sundress that she wore. “Are we going to share a room?”
He raised a brow. “If that’s what it's called then yes.”
“But why? I’m happy in my own room.”
“Like I said at the hospital, doll. You can’t leave my sight. Not even for a second. You’ll have to be close to me every single time and I’ll watch over you and our baby.”
He took off his coat and dropped it on the bed. “Do you like it?”
“I…I.” She was speechless.
“This is what every married couple does, they share a room. Ours won’t be different.” His hands fell on her hair, patting it soothingly.
“You have your time, I’ll go supervise the kitchen.”
At that, he pecked her forehead and walked out of the room, leaving her standing confused, speechless, and wondering what in heaven’s name happened to him, her heartbeat abnormally beating.
If Xavier continued with his actions and words, she wouldn't be able to help herself and fall in love with him, that was if she hadn't already.
“Oh goodness.” She breathed, fishing out her phone from her handbag and placing a call to her best friend. She needed someone to talk to, just to let it all and free herself from it. Beth was the right choice.
“Hey, Elaine,” her voice rang at the third ring.
“You won’t believe what’s going on in my life right now, girl. Gosh, you won’t believe it.”
“Breathe, Elaine.” She took a deep breath. “What happened? Did your husband do something? Perhaps purchased Hermes' company for you?”
“Shut up. Xavier found out about my pregnancy.”
“What?”
She pushed the phone away from her ear at Beth’s scream. Sitting on the bed, she continued. “He found out and…and, he didn’t yell at me for getting pregnant.”
“Did he ask for an abortion?”
“He didn’t. He… he was cool about it, angry that I kept it from him and acted rashly while carrying his child.”
“Gurl, you have to fill me these details in person. I told you to tell him about it. In fact, let’s meet up. I’m dying to hear what happened.”
