The Truth About Ria’s Pregnancy
At the start of the next day, Elaine’s hands hit the bedside table several times until she finally got a hold of her phone. She stretched out her limbs and let out a loud yawn. Her eyes fell on the empty space beside her. Xavier must have left for work already.
“How did I sleep till this time?” She exclaimed when she caught sight of the time on her phone. It was past nine am. She rubbed her eyes as she opened the messages on her phone, her eyes first catching on Beth’s message. She clicked on it.
Beth: There is an update on Ria.”
At the mention of the name, Elaine sat upright on the bed seemingly interested in whatever it was that Beth was about to say. She’d put her Beth on a mission to send someone to trail Ria’s every movement after she got released from jail the other day and luckily, it seemed that her hard work indeed paid off and Ria had been caught doing something inappropriate.
She typed a reply to Beth.
Elaine: Spill already, Beth. I’ve been waiting for this update.
Beth: It’s pretty serious. I’ll send the whole thing. (2 photos sent)
Beth: The first photo is one of Ria in her friend’s apartment and the other is one of the same Ria taking a package at the roadside.
Elaine clicked on the first photo. It was a photo of Ria in a casual dress in front of an apartment. She held a glass of wine in one hand and on her other hand was a cigarette. At first, Elaine didn’t first notice what was wrong with the photo apart from the wine and cigarette that caused her great shock. She strained her eyes, trying to see the real truth of the picture and her eyes grew wide, almost popping out of their sockets as they fell on Ria’s stomach.
It was flat! Too flat for a pregnant woman. She couldn’t help the gasp that left her lips at the sight. If Ria was pregnant, how could her stomach be so flat? She could tell that it was a recent picture from Ria’s hair. It was freshly dyed and styled. It was the same look that she wore to the grandmother’s birthday party.
The shock of the photo caused Elaine to push her back from the headboard and kept staring at the picture. She didn’t want to believe it. Where on earth did Ria’s baby bump go? Her fingers shook as she clicked on the second picture.m, confirming her doubt.
Her frown deepened as she stared at the picture. In this second picture, Ria’s bump was as it should be and she wore the same hairstyle and hair color as the last picture. The only difference in her appearance was the baby bump. In the first picture, there was no bump but in the second, there was a third trimester bump.
She finally got the truth of the situation crashing over her, drowning her in grief as her eyes fell on the large package that another lady handed her in the picture. She zoomed on it, catching the package from the thin packaging. There and then, she knew what it was. Another month’s fake baby bump!
Ria had been faking her pregnancy all these while! There was no baby and it was all a lie to get to the family. Elaine’s heartbeat increased, her eyes clamping shut. Ria lied to the entire Romano family. She deceived them that she was pregnant just to get them to her side. She lied to everyone around her.
“Oh goodness, she stooped so low.” She knew that Ria was shameless. The shameless person she’d met in her life but she never imagined that she would stoop so low just to get people’s attention.
But now that she found out about her game, about the stupid strategy that she pulled, she wasn’t going to let it last any further. She needed everyone else to see Ria for who she was exactly. A pretentious lying bitch! And so, she gripped her phone in her hands and typed a message to Beth.
Elaine: This is insane. I can’t believe that my sister would stoop so low just to get attention. I’ve never been more disappointed.
Once she sent the text, she saw the three dots show at the bottom of her text and soon enough, Beth’s text came in.
Beth: Ria is lying about her pregnancy and we have to expose her before she takes it too far. The pictures are totally reliable from our private investigator.
Elaine: You can meet me at the Rock’s mansion. I’ll go there now and expose Ria’s truth to mother and everyone else.
Beth: Are you sure about that? Will you be okay?
Elaine: Meet me there if you can.
She threw the blanket off her body and stormed into the bathroom. She soon came out all dressed in a green long sundress that stopped at her ankle. Brushing her hair into a simple hairstyle, she grabbed a white bag and slipped her feet into a pair of white shoes.
Elaine got out of the room and ran down the stairs running out of the house and to the parking lot.
“You can’t go out alone, ma’am.” She raised her head to stare at Rigel who blocked her path right before she could get into her car.
“What?”
“The boss informed us that you can’t go out alone.”
“But why? I’ve been going out alone all these while.”
“Perhaps to stop a certain someone.” The man stood tall by her car, and from the look of things, she knew so well that he wouldn’t listen to her even if she begs. It was about George again, she could tell. Xavier didn’t want her to go out alone so that she wouldn’t encounter the man as he still believed that he had ulterior motives for approaching her. He was one hell of an overbearing man.
“Fine! Are you going with me or…”
“I’ll go with you today. What location?”
“Rock’s mansion.” She was on a mission to expose Ria!
