I’m Sorry, Auntie

The air around them suddenly grew ten times tight. Ria stifled as a tall striking figure walked close to them. Before Jimmy could register what was going on, his breath hitched as he felt a cold metal pressed to his forehead.

“Get the fuck up.”

“Mr Romano?” Ria gasped, her eyes darting between Jimmy and his uncle. Letting go of the knife, Jimmy slowly stood up, his both hands raised in surrender.

Xavier’s gaze flicked to Ria, his stare a silent command, informing her what she needed to do. Immediately, she scrambled to Elaine’s side, helping her up, hands fluttering to clean the dust from her dress, her body trembling in fear at the turn of events.

“What did I tell you the last time, boy?” Xavier demanded.

Jimmy’s legs shook. “To stay away.”

“And what the fuck you think you just did? You have to pay for this.”

Ria rushed in between them. “Mr. Ro…Romano. It’s not as it seems. We were only teasing Elaine, we didn’t touch her at all.”

He simply ignored her, turning his attention to the salesperson. “Did you take all of that?”

The woman stepped to him. “Yes sir, here.” She handed him her phone. The footage on the screen played out all the transpired since Ria stepped into the scene. Nodding, he turned to the wide-eyed couple before him.

“Since you never heed warnings, I’d rather teach you a lesson. This video will prove Elaine’s innocence and trust me, I’m going to edit it and make you both seem worse.”

Ria shook her head in disbelief, her hands clutching Jimmy’s arms. “Jimmy, you have to do something. We can’t go down like this. Please do something. Mr. Romano, I’ll do anything, please don’t release that video.” Her words came desperately as she sank to her knees at Xavier’s feet. Her career and everything she’d spent so many years building would crumble to dust if he released the video.

Everyone who supported her previously would end up hating her. She won’t be able to show her face to the world ever again.

But her pleas fell on deaf ears as Xavier simply burst out into laughter, his laughter cold and chilling causing shivers to run down their spines. “Beg harder.”

She drew closer to his legs.
“Please, Mr Romano, please.”

“Harder.”

She clutched his legs.

“I’ll do anything you say.”

“Not convincing enough but I might just think about it.”

Her gaze flashed to him. He was smirking at her, his looks telling her that he already made up his mind and knew how he was going to punish her. His threat wasn’t empty at all.

“Yo…you’re the devil himself,” she cursed.

“Trust me, I’m worse.” Kicking her off his foot, Xavier grabbed Elaine to his side, bringing her to him and checking her body for any injury. “You want the dress, doll?”

She nodded.

“Then you get it.”

Without being told, the salesperson strode to Elaine, taking the dress from her and wrapping it up perfectly.

Xavier took steps to Jimmy, placing his hand on his shoulder. “Seems like we need a proper introduction here, boy. This woman.” He looked back at Elaine. “This woman is my fiancée, my soon-to-be wife. Doll, this is my Nephew, Jimmy. Got it, boy?”

“Ye…yes, Uncle.”

His hand tightened around his shoulder Jimmy feared his shoulder might snap if he tightened his hand much.

“And what are you supposed to call her?”

“Elaine.”

Xavier’s hands tightened.

“Wrong. Try again.”

“Auntie?”

“Good boy. Say it two more times and apologize.”

Jimmy’s whole body trembled, his eyes on the floor, fist tightening as he took in his Uncle’s words. He would have loved to retaliate, he would have loved to fight his Uncle and show him that he wasn’t a boy as he thought. But the fear of his Uncle’s wrath chained him to place.

“I’m… I’m sorry, Auntie.”

Xavier’s lips twisted into a self-satisfied smile. “Again!”

“I’m sorry, Auntie.”

“You accept the apology, Doll?” He fixed his gaze on Elaine.

“I guess this will do for now. Let’s just leave.”

It was only after Elaine’s words that Xavier decided to let go of Jimmy’s shoulder. Shoving him to the side a bit, he stepped toward Elaine before helping her with the bag. “You’re good, Doll? Sure no other troubles? I don’t mind fixing them for you.”

“I’m… I’m okay.” Realizing how suffocating it was to be in the same space with her ex-boyfriend and sister, she closed her hand around Xavier’s wrist, leading him to the exit of the store but not without passing Ria a smirking look.

Xavier stepped forward, helping her with the car’s door and only when she settled down did he circle around to the driver’s side, settling into the seat.

“Why the fuck you were talking to them?”

His tone came out rough and cold, his cold brown eyes on her. A blush crept up her cheek as she held his stats. He was hot, so fucking hot. And what he did back in the wedding dress mall was fucking sexy, at least to her.

She’d realized just how much power he held over Jimmy, seeing his legs tremble in fear of his Uncle. She had to admit watching Xavier fight for her was one of the hottest things she’d seen in the entirety of her life. He’d literally asked Jimmy to call her ‘Auntie.’

Although she didn’t show it, her heart had almost stopped beating at his words, especially the satisfied look on his face after he asserted his dominance over him. The man beside her, aka Block of Ice as Jimmy called him, was all she needed to take down her enemies. He was more than enough.

“It’s not like I wanted to. They came at me all of a sudden.”

“And you didn’t think to call me?”

“I know how to take care of myself.”

His eyes darkened. “No, you don’t. He’d almost harmed you.”

“I didn’t mean for things to come out that way. It wasn’t my intention.”

“Next time, you give me a call, okay?”

She nodded tiredly.

“Use your fucking mouth, Doll.”
