Little Liar
Just then, the door of her room burst open and the angry Emily stormed in, her face twisted in rage as she marched toward Ria.
“Ria Rock,” Emily‘s voice cut through the air causing Roa to tremble, her body turning to look at her sister.
“Sister Emily.”
“Don’t you dare call my name, you little liar.” As she got to her, Emily didn’t think twice before raising her hand to Ria, the force of her hit sending the girl backward, her hand on her cheek as she stared at Emily in shock.
It was the first time in years that Emily was laying her hand on her. Emily never hits, they were best friends, and she pampers her as the youngest child of the house and yet again, it was all Elaine’s fault that her favorite sister hated her. She could bear anything else but not Emily’s hatred. Ever.
“How dare you deceive us all this time, huh? You think we’re stupid all because we supported you? You think you can easily trample over us just like that?” Emily grabbed her arms, her eyes glaring dagger at Ria and she felt her legs shake in fear. “You’ll regret doing this, Ria. I’m going to make you pay for daring to fool us all these while, little girl. You don’t know how much I hate liars like you.” At that, she threw Ria to the floor.
“Sister Emily, sister,” Ria cried, scrambling to Emily’s feet. “Please believe me. What happened at the weddings were lies. Please hear me out, don’t hate me please.”
“Don’t hate you? I’m having thoughts on removing our name from our family’s registry and inheritance.”
Ria’s eyes immediately grew wide at her words. Standing up from the floor, she made her way to Emily, gathering her long wedding dress. “You can’t do that to me, I’m your little sister.”
“Not when you lied to me. You made me hate Elaine even if she did nothing wrong, she wasn’t the big bully but you all along.” She let out a low chuckle. “To think that I Emily Rock was fooled by someone like you.”
Anger flashed through Ria’s veins. How could her sister stop hating Elaine just because of a silly video? Before she knew it, the coffee cup at the top of the table flung to the other side of the room, her groan reverberating in the air. “So you’re going to be on her side now?”
“I go with the truth.”
“What don’t you understand, huh?” Ria yelled. “She’s trying to make my life a living hell. I’m the victim here, the victim of Elaine’s jealousy. She was jealous because Jimmy has always loved me and not her, it’s all Elaine’s fault.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
How tears streamed down Ria’s cheek, her eyes staring at her sister, passing her a betrayed look.
“Why can’t anyone see my suffering? The whole world sees her as the best designer, she has everything but me?” She clenched her heart. “I’ve always been a puppet in her games. Don’t you pity me at all, sister Emily? You don’t pity me?”
She scrambled to the floor again, her hands clutching her hair as she cried loudly, screaming to the air how she was the hated daughter of the Rock family and how no one saw her no matter how much she tried. Her screams got to this Mother downstairs who without wasting a second sprinted into the room, her legs taking her to Ria on the floor.
Wrapping her hands around the girl, she glared at Emily.
“Emily, what the hell has come over you?”
Emily rolled her eyes.
“Mother, she lied to us.”
“You’re going to believe a silly video from a renowned liar? Do you see how she is? Your baby sister is crying so pitiful, now tell me who the bully is.”
“Enough of this bully shit. Someone has to teach her a lesson.”
Bianca hugged the crying girl tighter. “How cruel can you get? Better not ruin her mood the more. It’s her wedding for goodness’s sake.”
“And her husband is nowhere to be found.”
Bianca returned her attention to Ria. “Oh, my dear. I know you didn’t do any of that.”
“I re…really did no…not,” Ria said amid tears.
“See that, Emily? So what if she did it, I still don’t care. It was Elaine who struck first by bullying Ria from day one. It isn’t Ria’s fault that she’s more beautiful and Jimmy likes her more. Think about that Emily. If it were you, how would you feel? I feel so much for this poor child.”
Emily’s gaze softened. “Mother.”
“Poor child. It’s her wedding day and not only did her very own sister try to frame her, but her other sister hit her hard in the face and called her a liar.”
Guilt suddenly took over Emily, her eyes on Ria who looked so pitiful that even the mightiest kings would fall for her acting. Her tears already stopped flowing freely, replaced by hiccups and shallow breaths. She hadn’t meant to hit her sister so hard but she’d lost and was too blinded by anger to see her sister’s pain.
Slowly, she fell to her knees beside Ria and hugged her tightly.
“I didn’t mean to do that, Ria. I’m so sorry, please forgive me, okay?” She patted her hair lovingly. “I promise I’ll be a good big sister from now on and I’ll never turn my back on you, okay?”
“Re…really?” Ria peered at her, her eyes red.
“I swear. We’re in this together. Me, you and Mommy. Together, we’re going to bring Elaine down for doing this to you. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that she doesn’t succeed in this life.”
Bianca nodded in agreement. “I agree with you, Ems. Although she’s also my daughter, I won’t have one of my daughters ruin the remaining two. I won’t let her harm either of you.”
Ria wiped her eyes. “But she’s with Xa…Xavier Romano now. He has her back.”
Emily laughed. “Xavier Romano is just another man that she agreed to slut for. He’s a man, it won’t be hard bringing him to our side, okay? We have to focus on Elaine first. For all I care, their relationship might not be even real.”
“So you all agree to support me?”
“Of course.”
“Deal?” They placed their right hands on each other’s hand and having a silent conversation with themselves, they concluded simultaneously much to Ria’s pleasure.
“Deal.”
Smiling, she hugged her mother and sister for their support. ‘They are so easy to fool.’ She laughed inwardly. Just a few droplets of tears and pitiful acts and her family already fell down to her feet like she was some sort of goddess to be worshiped. They’d immediately forgotten about the video and returned their love to her. Oh, how much of a perfect actress she was. She would definitely apply for an acting audition soon. Maybe that was where her future lies.
All of a sudden, Ria felt her stomach churning painfully, a nauseous feeling washing over her. Shoving the two heavy bodies beside her, she quickly sprang up to her feet and sprinted to the bathroom, her hands closing around her mouth, holding it in.
As she squatted in front of the toilet seat, she hurled over and threw out everything had eaten since the morning. A thin slice of bread and wine. Emily and Biance rushed to her side, one holding her hair backward and the other patting her back as she threw up.
Once she was done, she stood up slowly. “What’s going on, Ria? What’s wrong with you?”
“I…I don’t know. Maybe it’s stress.”
“Are you sure?
“Or are you….”
