Paying Ria’s debt
“I asked who you girls are. How did you find Ria here?
“We simply just traced that shitty car of hers. Hey, little shit.” The girl at the front called out for Ria. “Who is this thing speaking to us? Ask her to move so we can talk like a proper debtor to the creditor.”
One of the other girls stepped forward to the girl at the front and whispered something into her ears. Her eyes grew wide and she looked Elaine over from her head down to her shoes. It looked like she just learned who Elaine was.
“What a big fucking shot here in this beach of bad luck today. What are you doing here? I heard you both were enemies.”
“It’s none of your business.”
“Then I think I should also inform you how this girl borrowed our money just to find ways and bring you down to the floor. The sister you’re trying to defend bought chemicals from us also. Chemicals that were supposed to kill you. Oops, it’s none of my business.”
“Now that you know it’s none of your business, it will be very much appreciated if you leave us alone. We were busy before you came in.”
All girls threw their heads back and roared into laughter, the sound of their voices reverberating in the air. “Oh wow, she’s so confident. Just because you’re married to Xavier Romano doesn’t give you the guts to speak to me that way. You don’t know what I’m capable of doing to your clean, perfect skin.”
Finally, Ria emerged from behind Elaine. She stepped beside her sister and with her eyes on the girl before them, she spoke. “Amelia, I told you I’ll pay the money today. Today is not over yet.”
“I want my money now! I’m done with your postponement, do you hear me?”
“But I have no money now. You think if I have the money I’ll be here?”
“I’ll pay the money. Give me a few more days.”
“Impossible. Girls!” Amelia called for the girls behind her. They stepped up in front of her, their hands clutching their sticks, ready to descend on Ria at the order of their boss. The look in their eyes was one of thirst and blood hunger. Elaine knew what it was. They looked like they wouldn’t stop until Ria was almost bleeding to death and the thought alone made her thank goodness that she showed up at the beach today.
Her sister would’ve been beaten to near death!
“Girls!” Amelia roared again. “Do what you’re paid to do and descend on Ria. Do not stop until she provides our money. If anyone comes your way, beat them to a pulp also.”
The girls let out squeals of excitement and took steps forward, swinging the stick in her hands. Right before they could descend on Ria who’d begun stepping back in fear, Elaine stepped between them and stopped them in their tracks.
“Get the hell out of the way!” Amelia yelled. “Don’t think we’ll hesitate to harm you because you’re married to a Romano. I’m more dangerous.”
But Ria shook her head in warning to Amelia. She knew better than anyone else what the consequence of messing with his wife was. Xavier Romano was a beast in human form and if it wasn’t for her fake pregnancy that day, he would have killed her for real. “You better don’t, Amelia. I’m warning because we were once friends. You shouldn’t mess with anything that concerns Xavier Romano.”
“That’s your own cup of coffee. I fear nothing and you know. Move out of the way!”
“How much does my sister owe you?”
“Oh wow,” Amelia’s lips curved into a grin. “The best question ever. The only question a creditor likes hearing. She owes 15k and if I don’t get my money today, they’ll be hell.”
“What?”
Amelia rolled her eyes. “Don’t tell me the wife of such a powerful man can’t even afford to pay 15k.”
“It’s not 15k. It’s 10k. I told you I’ll pay the money. It’s not a large amount for me and you know. I wouldn’t borrow from you if I wasn’t in desperate need of the money.”
“Desperate need to make a fake baby bump? I know all about it. And by the way, I know that it’s a large amount for you now, considering how you look right now.” She looked Ria over. Her friends did the same and together, they burst into laughter, mocking Ria’s disheveled look. “You look like shit.”
“Stop with the insult! I swear, you’ll pay for daring to speak to me in such a manner.”
“Oh please, enough with the arrogance, you biych. You better keep your shoulders down if you don’t want to face my wrath, do you hear me?”
“How pathetic can you get?” Elaine again stepped before Ria to face Amelia. You carried a whole lot of people to fight for 15k? I’m kind of disappointed. For your notice, the Rock family is worth more than that. I’ll send the money.”
“You don’t have to!” Ria disapproved.
“Process the wire transfer immediately. I’m waiting!”
“Elaine, don’t. I’ll pay my debt myself. Just leave.”
She swiveled around to glare at Ria.
“Or you’re planning your death because if one of these sticks touches you, I’m afraid you’ll find yourself six feet in the ground. Let me do this.”
“Stop fucking acting like you give a fuck if I die or not! I’ll settle my problem. I don’t need your help.”
With a shake of her head, Elaine turned to the girl to ask for the means of payment. Ria’s pride was still a large factor in her life despite the fact that she barely even had a hundred dollars in her bank. As the girls offered her the account, she processed the payment in a flash of the moment, watching as their eyes glistened when they received the alert.
“Now, this is where our business ends. Leave at once!” She ordered.
Amelia scratched the back of her nape and laughed awkwardly, lowering her head to a bow. “I hope you understand that we’re not enemies, Miss Rock and Mrs Romano. It’s just that when money is involved, one tends to leave friendship aside.”
Ria scoffed. “Only in your dreams would
You think we’ll remain friends? We’re done! Just leave:”
“I’ll see you some other time.” Offering Ria and Elaine smiles, they swiveled around and walked out of the beach, happily swinging their sticks with each step that they took.
Elaine let out a relieved sigh once they were out of sight. Clutching her purse tighter, she spoke without looking back at her sister.
“I’ll leave now. Think about what I said.”
