Celebrate Victory

“What do you think? We should celebrate this victory once we get out of here, right?” Elaine suggested to her friend as they both stepped out of the kitchen of the Rock mansion into the living room. She slumped on a couch and dragged Neth to sit beside her. “Great idea right?”

“We’re definitely celebrating this. Everyone has finally seen Ria for who she is. I’m sure the Romano family won't let her in again after this. Not even Jimmy.”

“Who cares about him? Considering how pussy hungry he is, I’m sure he would go back if Ria falls on her knees and sucks his goddamn cock.”

“Eww.” Beth lightly slapped Elaine’s arms. “Don’t put such dirty images into my head. I don’t want to have the image of them having sex in my head. I’ll fucking throw up.”

Elaine couldn’t help but throw her head backward and burst into laughter, her voice reverberating in the living room. “What the hell? Is it that bad?”

“So goddamn bad. Jimmy and Ria are both a weird and good combination. Weird is the fact that they’re both stupid but on the other hand, stupid people deserve each other.”

“You’re not wrong. Goodness! I’m still processing in my head the fact that Ria lied about her pregnancy. Did she not think of how everyone would feel?” She knew for sure that her mother-in-law, Mrs. Romano would feel it so much as though her grandbaby died a second time. After the death of Elaine’s baby, she consoled herself with the thought of another baby coming into the family to bring them joy again. She’d anticipated the cry of Ria’s baby and had even decided to hand over the things that she got for Elaine’s baby to Ria after she gave birth.

Never had she imagined that the baby that everyone had come to love didn’t even exist in the first place. They’d been loving and caring for a non-existent baby. How depressing was that?

“Everyone must be feeling like shit. I pray that she doesn’t go Scot-free for deceiving the entire family.”

“We should leave, Beth. I’m not going to mourn. We need to celebrate Ria’s true colors coming to light. I’ll bid mother goodbye.”

She stood up from the couch and walked back to the kitchen where Emily and their mother were busy tidying up. She wrapped her hands around her mother’s waist and hugged her from behind. “It pains me that I have to leave, Mother. I’ll see you some other time, though. I’ll definitely come one of these days.”

“You’re leaving so soon?”

“I have to attend to something. I’ll come another time.” She pulled away from her mother and turned to Emily. “Take care of yourself, Ems. Don’t think about what happened too much. Remember we’re a family and we’ll support each other all the time, okay? Bye.”

As she raced out of the kitchen after pressing a kiss on her mother’s cheek, she heard her yell from behind. “Come with that too-serious husband of yours next time, okay? I still haven’t apologized for what happened the last time.”

“Of course.”

She pulled Beth from the couch and letting out squeals, they both ran out of the mansion to Elaine’s car that was parked before it. Elaine got on the driver’s side while Beth sat beside her. In no time, their car rolled out of the mansion.

“Where do we go now? To celebrate,” Elaine asked.

“Hmm. There is a new bar across the city. Should we go there? I heard the view is pretty and the drinks too are amazing.”

“That’s great. Seems like the perfect spot.”

Once they got to the new bar across the city, they made their way in. They took their seats by the high bench before the bar.

“You’re not wrong about this place. A mixture of local and luxury,” Elaine complimented, her eyes moving around the bar. She could tell that it was made for both the rich and the poor with the people that were seated at each table. Quite economical, she could tell.

“What do I get you both pretty ladies?” They swiveled around to face the bartender who stared at them with a wide signature smile on his lips. “We have all types of drinks. I know you can afford a lot.” His eyes traced from their hair to the expensive bags that they held. “Place your order, please. Bloody Mary? Sex on the beach, mocktail…”

“We’ll just take beer,” she cut him off.

“Beer?”

“You heard me. Two bottles.” It had been so long since she had those regular beers. Ever since she got married, it has always been the expensive drinks. She remembered her early youth with Beth. They’d drink themselves to stupor until they could no longer take any liquid in their stomach.
She knew that Beth felt the same way from the look that she passed her.

“It’s been so long since we had Beer, Elaine. I still remember those days.”

“Where we had so much fun, hmm?”

“It was fun.” Soon enough, the bartender returned with a bottle of beer each for the women. He placed a glass each between them after placing the bottles of beer.

“Now that Ria has been caught in the act, I wonder what she will do now? Will she try to harm you again or repent for good this time?” Beth asked and afterward opened her beer with her very own teeth, eliciting a weird gaze from the bartender. He passed her a look like she suddenly grew ten heads and noticing it, she simply just shrugged and faked a charming smile.

“Perhaps. She’s still my sister so I’ll do my best to bring her back on track. Do you think she’ll listen? I and Emily are devising a plan to get her back on track.”

“Knowing Ria,” she poured a decent amount of beer into her glass and gulped a mouthful. “I don’t think she’s going to ever give up. She’s way too gone to give up. By the way.” She gestured with her hands for Elaine to come closer and when she did, she leaned toward her and whispered. “There’s a man who’s been staring at you for a while now. Oh my God, he’s making his way to you.”
