Fear Of The Enemies
~Rock Mansion~
“Let go of the bottle,” Fredrick yelled at Luke, his hand clutching the other part of the bottle that Luke was holding to himself. He glared at him in anger, his brown eyes wishing to spear daggers at him.
“The fuck? You let go of the bottle,” Luke cursed.
“I’m trying to keep calm. If you don’t let go of the bottle right now, I won’t stop myself from hitting your head with it.” It was the last bottle of beer in the house and goodness knows he was having it and not the man who stood astride him with the same intention.
“And me? Come on dear cousin. Apart from sleeping with people’s wives, I wonder what the fuck you can do in your messed up life.”
“You want to try me?”
“I’ll try you then.”
They let go of the bottle at the same time, the battle coming in contact with the floor, the shattering sound filling the air. They lunged at each other, throwing punches and kicks that sent the other one flying and breaking their noses.
Diana and Greta stood at the other side of the living room, watching their husbands fight, unable to do anything to stop them.
“Goddamn it. These two grown-up men are fighting for an ordinary bottle of beer?” Diana frowned.
“It’s the last in the house.”
“They could go buy more.”
Greta rolled her eyes, her expensive manicured nails in between her teeth. “Don’t forget you and your family are poor as fuck now.”
Diana grunted her eyes, glaring daggers at the woman beside her. “I don’t want to fight you. Not right now.” Not when they have been fighting for the past two days.
“Someone stop them. Sam, do something,” Diana yelled at Sam when the fight became too bloody. Their husbands were going to kill themselves if it continued.
Sam only stared at the fighting men and resumed his position on the couch. He was done settling fights all the time. “Help them yourself. I’m done with y’all. If Auntie Bianca had let me leave like Elaine, I wouldn’t be seeing sick fucks fight all the time.”
The battle continued until Biana slammed her hands on the middle table in the living room. “Anyone fight again and I’ll record it and post it online.”
They immediately tore away from each other at her warning. She took a deep breath. “Do you all plan to kill me? I’ve been tolerating this for too long. Tomorrow, pack your bags and leave.”
“You’re going to chase us out?” Her sisters turned to her.
“Benita, it’s not like that but I want my space back. Your sons are causing too much trouble.”
“Fine, we’ll leave then if that’s what you want. I’m not the one who called for a family gathering after all.”
“Right, maybe it’s high time we cancel this family tradition.”
“Shut up, you two,” she yelled. If you can’t control your sons, I wonder who would. I’m doing my best to keep sane.”
“Whatever.”
Just then, the door of the mansion pushed open and a slim slightly older lady walked in. Everyone grew quiet at the sight of the Rock family informer, they took their seats, readying their hearts for the news that was to come.
“What is it, Yuri? Speak,” Bianca ordered.
“I’m here to bring news, ma’am.”
“Spill the tea,” Ria who’d been silently sitting with her husband and Emily finally spoke.
“It’s concerning Elaine Romano.”
“Go on.”
“I got information that she’s currently carrying the Romano family’s heir.”
Everyone grew silent, not a pin drop sound at the woman’s announcement. They all stared into space, trying to think of what the hell they just heard. Ria felt her eyes popping out of their sockets, her hands trembling.
“Is the news confirmed?” Bianca broke the silence.
“Yes ma’am.”
Deep in their thoughts, no one noticed when the slim information carrier lowered her head and made her way out of the mansion.
“Elaine, pregnant?” Bianca chanted, a smile riding up her lips.
Bianca and her sisters had a smile on their faces as they stood up to embrace each other, breaking out in laughter.
“I’m going to become a grandmother, it’s happening.” She exclaimed.
“Yes. We’re going to have a new family member.”
Their celebration was soon cut off when Ria slammed a hand on the table and sprang up from the couch, glaring at her mother and aunts. “What the hell are you all happy for, huh? So what if she’s pregnant? Is it the first time anyone is getting pregnant in the family? I’m pregnant too, aren’t I?”
Everyone’s gaze turned to her. Biance stepped forward “What are you saying? We all know you’re pregnant and we have been taking care of you.”
“Taking care of me? By giving me broke ass food and keeping me at home all day? I’ve been pregnant for months and not a single shopping spree because everyone is fucking broke.” She suddenly burst into laughter, throwing her head back, her black hair tied in a loose ponytail. “It seems you guys don’t know what Elaine being pregnant means?”
“Elaine being pregnant is a defeat to us all and you guys are celebrating? She’s going to have the upper hand now and the heir of the Romano family is in her stomach. Do you know what that means? Mother, don’t forget that she hates you because you’re on my side not hers. Elaine is going to make sure that our family tears apart and make us pay for turning our back on her.”
