Exposing Ria 2

“I pushed her beneath me because that’s where she belongs. Beneath my fucking foot.” Margaret continued. “Trust me, son. You don’t want to know what this scheming wife of yours has been doing behind your back.”

“Mother,” Jimmy groaned. “Whether or not she did something wrong, that shouldn’t amount to this. She’s carrying my baby, your grandchild, you when to be kind or her:”

“Kind?”

“Yes, kind. Is this why you called me to show up urgently? Because you want to beat my wife in front of me? That is rude.”

“You’re right. I’m not surprised you figured me out so soon, after all, you’re my one and only son. You know the knowledge so well.” Turning to the confused people in the room, Margaret dropped the bomb. “I came here to announce that my son’s marriage with your son is over. Five million will be transferred to whatever pathetic account you want. She is no longer a part of our family.”

Ria’s eyes widened at the woman’s words, her whole life flashing before her eyes. There was no way she could leave the family so soon, she hadn’t even enjoyed the luxury of being with Jimmy brought. They can’t end so soon. And so she crawled to Margaret and held her legs in her palms. “Please, Mother, have mercy on me. Forgive me.”

“What you did is totally unforgivable, Ria. I can’t forgive you.”

“But what did Ria do?” Emily asked from the side.

Everyone held their breaths, their hearts pounding in their chests loudly as Margaret squatted to Ria’s height. She dipped her head downward and grabbed Ria’s chin, forcing her to stare into her eyes. Before Ria could say a word, her other hand traveled into Ria’s gown and slowly, she pulled a fake foam belly bump out, throwing it to the floor by Emily and Bianca. They held themselves and jumped at the sight of the fake belly bump and they watched with wide eyes as Ria's stomach sank in, turning back to the way it was before the whole pregnancy thing.

“As you all can see, Ria had been faking her pregnancy all this while. She lied to everyone including the Romanos. Do you know how angry they would feel if they found out about this? They would be furious as hell.”

Emily’s mouth fell open in shock. She gasped, watched Ria on the floor, and waited for her to say something, at least defend herself from the accusation and say that it was all a lie. But she did nothing of such and only just avoided everyone’s gaze. Ignoring the surprised expressions that they passed her.

“It…It can’t be,” Bianca let out a sigh of disbelief, her legs pushing backward until the back of her legs hit a couch and she slumped on the couch, her eyes almost popping out of their pockets. “Oh, my goodness. Ria, where is your baby? Ria!” She yelled. “Where is the baby that we have been expecting all this while? From scratch!”

Ria looked away from them, her eyes looking everywhere in the room but her family members. She glared at the baby bump on the floor as if cursing it for not hiding her better. She’d been strapping the new month’s fake bump into her body before Margaret stepped into the room and caught her in the act. She’d screamed so loud back at their house that all the servants rushed it the room to find out what was happening and when they also found her with the baby bump, they screamed their hearts out.

It was the greatest mistake of her life, not being wise enough to close the door when she got into the house. Margaret had immediately dragged her to the Rock mansion as she found out the truth. Another yell of her name from her mother caused her lips to quiver and she finally muttered. “I…I don’t know mother, there…there is no baby.”

Jimmy swallowed, slapping his fist on his head several times as if trying to reset his head. He didn’t want to believe what his eyes were seeing. It can’t be, right? Ria wouldn’t revive them all that way. Was that why she never let him touch her properly after she got pregnant? Was that why she is aged in having sex facing the other side instead? It all began to make sense to him.

Ria had been fooling everyone all this while.

“Ria, this isn’t true,” He spoke. “Where is our baby? You said that you’re pregnant. You’ve been carrying the baby for good months now. Please tell us that this is a prank and our baby is hidden somewhere in you.”

Ria snapped. “Are you slow? Didn’t you hear that there is no baby? There is no fucking baby.”

“So it was all a lie? The cravings, the money, the hospital checkups were lies?”

“Most of the hospital checkups I lied I was going, I simply went to take new bumps for the month. Just like yesterday. It’s over now, I’ve been caught, no what?”

“Our marriage will end!”

“Oh please, end the crap. I’m done pretending with you and your lousy mother. I asked for a small amount of money and I couldn’t even get it. You think I’ll get pregnant in such a situation? I…”

“Stop talking!” Emily’s angry voice reverberated in the large living room, her hands darting out to clutch her tightly. She groaned and shook her head. In one large step, she got to Ria, held her arms, and grabbed her to her feet.

“Sister, Emily, what are you doing? You’re on my side, right?” Ria gazed at Emily in that pitiful look that she always used on her for anything, fake tears beginning to stream down her cheek. If Emily and their mother were by her side, she needed anything not. She would be satisfied to scheme with them and together, they’ll conquer the world. “You love me right.”

A single slap from Emily to Ria sent shivers down everyone’s spine, the force of the slap echoing in the space.
