Ria In Police Custody

“For the sake of the child, we should let the police handle this, okay? We should just call the police instead.”

At the mention of the police, Ria struggled even more in the men’s arms. “Police? The cell is horrible. I can’t be sent there.”

Mrs Romano’s head snapped to her, her eyes glaring fathered. “Horrible is what Xavier would do to you if you don’t cooperate and beg to be taken to the station instead.”

But Xavier wasn’t having it. “I’ve made my decision. I’m trying to do this as quietly as possible so no one’s reputation will be out in the open.” The guests weren’t aware of the situation happening upstairs and he needed to keep it that way. “Take her away.”

“Xavier, mother is right,” Elaine added, coming to stand beside the man. “Let the police handle such cases, okay?”

“Are you crazy? She fucking tried to harm you.”

“I’m aware of that. You’re going to take it too far. Just leave it for the police. After all, it’s a crime that the police should handle instead.”

Xavier’s fingers weaved through his hair and with a hand on his waist, he gazed at his wife. “You’re fucking unbelievable.”

“Just do it, okay? After all, I’m fine. I’m not dead.”

After so much persuasion, he finally agreed to let Ria be taken by the police instead. In no time, the police quietly arrived at the mansion and took the girl away, ignoring her screams and pleas. The party continued downstairs and everyone retreated from Xavier’s room back to the party.

Once everyone left, Elaine walked back to the bed and sat on it, her hands holding her head as she sighed loudly.

“Are you okay?” She raised her head at Xavier’s question.

“I’m fine. I’m just worried about Ria.”

He raised a brow. “Since fucking when?”

“I mean, I’m worried about the baby in her womb. She’s pregnant, Xav.”

“She’ll be fine. One has to lie on the bed that they laid. She should’ve been ready before deciding to act so stupidly.”

He stepped up to the bed and grabbed their bags, unzipping them and throwing her a dress. “Put that on and let’s get the hell out of the messed up place quietly. We’ll use the secret passage.”

“We’re going away from the party?”

“Don’t question me this time, Elaine. I’m not in a fancy mood.”

She did as he asked and wore the blue dress that he threw at her. Once she was down, she pulled her hair into a tight ponytail and turned to Xavier who was waiting for her at the door. Clasping her hands in his, he began guiding them out of the mansion.

“Can you stop sulking?”

Elaine followed Xavier into their mansion, dropped their bags on the floor, and walked behind him to the kitchen, trying to keep up with his pace. “I’m speaking to you. Can you stop sulking now?”

He stopped and turned to her. “Me, sulking?”

“That’s what you’re doing right now? Like a goddamn baby.”

“If that’s what you think, I can not stop you, can I? Considering that you’re uncontrollable.” He continued his journey to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and took out a bottle of water which he twisted open and gulped down the contents. She stepped up behind him.

“What? I’m the uncontrollable one now. You’ve been dictating my life since I met you.”

“You’re a joker.”

“I can say the same. A clown.”

He paused and turned to her, his brows raised. “What did you just call me?”

She shrugged and pushed her body to rest on the island table, her gaze directly on him.

“I asked a question.”

“You heard me in the first place. Fine, I agree, you’re right this time and we shouldn’t have gone there in the first place but this is not enough for you to start sulking. It’s not like I knew something would go wrong in the party.”

“Wherever Margaret and her children are, there is bound to be trouble. I warned you.”

“You’re right. Can we stop the back-and-forth now? You were quiet all throughout the car ride. If you don’t stop giving me a silent treatment like a goddamn chicken, I’ll leave you to your fate and keep up with the energy.”

“Chicken. First a clown and now a chicken, Elaine? Don’t tell me you want me to fight with you because I’m not in the mood right now.”

“Oops, I forgot you’re such a weakling and can’t fight a woman like me.”

Xavier closed the bottle of water and stared at her in disbelief. “Take it as whatever you want. I’m a busy man. Fighting with you is nowhere near what’s bothering me.”

She stepped forward and hit him on his shoulder with her fist, her brows raised as if daring him to fight with her. Perhaps she wanted to play? She needed to get whatever happened previously out of her mind and the only person who could help her with that was Xavier.

She knew that Ria hated her, that they weren’t on good terms. But she never thought that she would go so far as to even plot her demise. Now she knew it was all acting. Ria pretended to be sorry for everything and just when she decided to let her guard down a bit, she striked. Ria surely was unpredictable.

“What? You want to hit me back?” She giggled.

“Fuck, Elaine, I’m still angry. Don’t try to charm me with that smile of yours. It’s not funny.”

“You find my smile charming. Do you want me to smile even more? Here.” Her lips curled into a wide smile.

“Stop it. Stop smiling already.”

“But you find it charming.”

“Your smiles are annoying. I’m the only person who can contend with this smile of yours. And your teeth aren’t well arranged. You should probably work on them. So stop smiling.” His fingers darted forward to her cheek and pressed on them, pouting her lips forward and ending her smile. “Now, this is good. Don’t smile anymore.”

Once he let go of her, she grabbed his shirt and cursed. “You bastard, I’ll fucking kill you.”
