The Reveal

The first video projected on the large screen was a video of Ria handing a thick wad of cash to a middle-aged man and they plotted to prepare a safe place for her to jump into, pretending that she attempted suicide. The voices were loud and clear just like the gasps of the guests as they watched the drama unfold before them like a carefully crafted movie.

Just as the video ended, the projector whirled, projecting the second piece of evidence. The footage of Ria’s bullying act at the shop the other day was carefully edited by Xavier to make it look worse and unforgivable. Ria’s eyes widened at the sight of the videos, her hands clutching Jimmy’s arms tightly. “Jim…Jimmy,” she stuttered. “Jimmy, what’s going on?”

Jimmy broke away from her, his jaw clenching as he studied the screen. “What is this on the screen, Ria? Did you do as this video says? You really faked your suicide?”

She rushed to him, her hands clawing at his shirt as she stared at him desperately. “Th…this is a lie. You know what I’ve been through. This is all Elaine’s ploy to break us apart. She’s the cause of this.”

She swirled around, running to the projector, her screams loud and shaky. “Turn it off, turn it off, nowwwwww.”

When no one made a move to turn the projector off, watching her downfall like a gory car crash, she took matters into her own hands. She grabbed the projector, not bothering if it was considered improper of her. All she wanted was to stop the damn video and get her pride back. It was her wedding day, her big day for that matter and she can’t let it flop all because of Elaine.

Deciding, she threw the projector on the floor, smashing it so that the video stopped playing. Jimmy immediately moved to grab her. “What do you think you’re doing? You’re worsening the situation.”

“I’m not doing anything. It’s all Elaine’s fault.”

Before Jimmy could stop her, Ria pushed him out of her way, dashing toward Elaine, ready to engage in a heated fight but before she could get to her, a mountain of muscle blocked her path, his face expressionless. Ria’s soft body banged against his hard one causing her to fall butt-first on the floor. She groaned.

“Oh Ria, you still haven’t learned, have you?” Elaine stepped forward, her red heels right before Ria’s face, her lips curling into a smug grin. “I warned you, didn’t I? This is just the tip of the iceberg.”

“How dare you. You’ll pay for this.”

Elaine merely laughed. “Drop that act now, little sister.” She turned to the guests, her hands folded under her chest as she addressed them. “It’s clear now that I have been wrongly accused by each and every one of you here. Whereas the bully is standing right before you, you still don’t see it. I deserve an apology for all of these.”

Their heads bowed in apology, some throwing curses at Ria for daring to toy with their emotions. They’d totally believed the words of the crying girl that they neglected the other who tried so hard to explain that her sister was against her.

“You damn bitch. For ruining my wedding, I will never forgive you.”

Xavier stepped in. “Irrelevant.” To the guest, he spoke. “On behalf of the groom, my Nephew, I apologize.”

Gasp erupted in the ballroom all over again at the sudden revelation. The guests' eyes widened as they tried to register the situation in their heads.

“Nephew?”

“They’re Uncle and Nephew?” The room buzzed with whispers, the guests trying to connect the dots. Not much of Xavier Romano was released on the internet and they knew almost nothing about him. He was an undercover boss and maybe that was the reason why they were only just finding out about the Uncle-Nephew relationship.

“You heard right.” Xavier grabbed Jimmy on his head, bringing him to his side. “This is my Nephew. I apologize for his poor choice of bride.”

Hearing this, Ria screamed at the top of her voice. “I’m better, I’m very much better than Elaine. I’m prettier and a better designer.”

“In your dreams,” Elaine chuckled, her composure as immaculate as her dress.

Slowly, Ria scrambled to Jimmy's side, holding both his hands in hers. “Honey, please don’t believe them. You know me so well, please don’t abandon me.” Her tears streamed down her cheek, trying to elicit pity from her wedding guests but this time, they didn’t do much to spare her a glance. It was too late, the veil of her lies had already been torn away, revealing her true self to the world. Her pity card no longer worked on anyone who already saw her true nature.

Jimmy yanked his hand from her, her heart shattering into pieces. “Jimmy.”

“No, how dare you lie about your suicide to me, huh? Do you take me as a fool?”

“Please don’t abandon me,” she cried.

Jimmy felt his heart softening at the sight of the tears that streamed freely down her cheek, the innate desire to console her. But he remembered the videos. Not after he was ruined by the other video of him bullying Elaine. They were now labeled as the big bullies.

******

“Arhhhhhhh.” Anger coursed through Ria’s veins as she smashed anything her hands came in contact with in her room. Vases, lamps, and furnitures crumbled into shards under her hands. She was supposed to be in her matrimonial home, basking in the afterglow of her perfect wedding. But instead, she was back at the Rock mansion, seething in rage. Jimmy had refused to take her to his home, according to him, he would have to sort the problem out before coming to pick her up from the Rock mansion.

Throwing a flower vase to the wall beside her, she screamed at the top of her voice. “Elaine Rock, I’ll destroy you, I promise.”

If it wasn’t for her sister, she would have been happy with Jimmy, they would have become a happy couple and not the disaster that everyone knew them as. For all she cares, Elaine would pay for ruining her life. For making the whole world turn their back to them.

She would destroy Elaine even if it meant going through the almighty block of ice who is always on her rescue, Xavier Romano, the enigmatic and indomitable “Ice Block.”

Her hand clenched her heels tightly and without thinking, Ria threw it to the large TV screen, watching in satisfaction as the glass shattered into a thousand glittering shards, imagining it was Elaine instead.

Just then, the door of her room burst open and the angry Emily stormed in, her face twisted in rage as she marched toward her.
