Xavier’s Arrival

Elaine was awoken by the rough pull of the ropes around her body. Her body jerked forward and her eyes widened when her body was released from the rope and someone came around to grab her from the chair. She jerked backward.

“Follow me.”

Her eyes fell on the bully man before her as he grabbed her and brought her to his side. She looked around the room for the grace of the man who was tied beside her before she’d fallen asleep and when she didn’t find him around, a sense of panic rode up her chest. She struggled, trying to get out of the hold of the man.

“What do you want? Where do you take my father to?”

“If you follow me silently,” the man gritted his teeth. “We’ll get this done soon and you won’t be hurt.”

With urgency, he started pulling her out of the room. “Let go of me. You don’t know who my husband is, do you? When he finds out that you’re manhandling me this way, you’ll going to be in a huge mess.”

“Maybe you should think of yourself first before worrying about me. And perhaps, the baby in your womb.”

At the mention of her baby, Elaine wrapped her hand around her baby bump, as if to protect the child. She silently thanked the baby for being strong for the past two days despite the hardship they both faced. She patted it. ‘Don’t worry, baby, we’ll be out of here soon.’ She wrapped both hands around it in protection.

Her eyes immediately moved around the premises once they got out of the tiny room, taking in the huge building.

“Father,” she called once her eyes caught sight of the man who was being held by another bully man just like the man behind her. “What’s going on?”

“Just do as they told you and move.”

The men pushed them both forward, heading to the stairs a few meters away from them. She wondered where they were taking them to so urgently and shivers ran down her spine at the thought of spending more days in the hands of the bad men.

Not when she was already feeling dizzy and was way due for her drugs.

All of a sudden, gunshots reverberated in the building, everyone immediately taking covers while the men behind them urged them to move faster.

“Fuck, move faster, they’ll get to us.”

Elaine flinched.
“Wh…who are they?”

“The Romanos. Don’t fucking ask questions, just move!”

Her heart skipped a bit. The Romanos. That only meant that Xavier found her. Her heart leaped in joy. He found her, he always does. Finally, after two bad days, she sighed in relief, her heart filled with joy. Just the thought of Xavier around was enough to have her feel at ease.

The urgency of the men increased and soon, they forced them to start cunning, beginning to cock their guns to reply to any danger.

Elaine let out a yell as the man behind her dropped to the floor right before she could take the steps. Her eyes fell on the man with a hole in his head and she gasped, taking a step forward in shock. Before she could say anything, the men around her father and her dropped dead on the floor, leaving just them both before the stairs.

“Wh…what?”

She intended to run away when her father rushed to her, grabbed her by the neck, and turned her around, her back to his chest. “Don’t move.” He placed a knife on her throat. Where the hell did he get that from? She remembered the men taking everything from them when they woke up on the first day.

She didn’t have so much time to dwell on that as the weight of her knife on her neck dawned on her with each passing second. “Father, what are you doing?”

“Shut the hell up. I can’t get killed because of you.”

“You’re not going to get killed.”

The man let out a cruel shilling of laughter. “You think that your husband is going to let me be after you got kidnapped because of me? I doubt that.”

“He’s not going to harm you.”

“Just because you’re my daughter? It doesn’t matter. You don’t know the man you got married to, do you? He’s a psychopath and so, you must help me get out of here safe and sound.” He forced her to take a step forward.
“If you do, you might just go safe and sound. But if you don’t cooperate, you’re going to get it from me. You and that baby.”

“I agree.”

“Now, move.”

She began to take steps down the stairs with Albiwt, her legs trembling with each step she took. She paused, her head becoming light from exhaustion.

“Get your fucking hands off her, now,” a deep commanding voice caused them both to freeze in their spot. Elaine let out a cry just as she recognized the voice. The voice of the man who was her husband. The voice that she couldn’t forget for the world. “Didn’t you hear me? I said, let. Fucking. Go. Of. My. Wife.”

Elaine felt goosebumps rise on her flesh when her eyes fell on her husband as Albeit turned. He had a hand buried in his pocket and in his other hand was a pistol and his eyes were blazing with fury as they glared at the man beside her.

“Before she’s your wife, she’s my daughter.”

“Let her go and I might just forget about this insolence.”

The man let out a chuckle. “Coming from you, this is so unbelievable. Don’t think I don’t know you, Xavier Romano. You’re the replica of the devil.” He tightened the hold on the knife on Elaine’s throat as Xavier took a step forward. “If you take one more step, I won’t hesitate to slit her throat.”

“I’m… I’m your daughter,” she cried, tears beginning to stream down her cheek. What kind of father threatens to end the life of his own daughter?
