The Child Is Mine

“To what do I owe this displeasure, Jimmy?”

Jimmy’s fist was clenched beside him. “Good question, Uncle.”

“What do you want? State or, I’m a busy man.”

“And I’m not a busy man?”

“You make me doubt that. Considering you’re never seen working.” What kind of man allows his mother to do the dirty work while he just sits like the mommy’s boy that he is? And whenever he decides to do something, it ends up pissing him off and causing him to yearn murdering him.

“My wife is pregnant. I can hardly leave her side. Unlike a certain someone, I’ll take care of the woman I love.”

He raised a brow. “And pray tell me how you’re going to feed this woman and your baby? If you don’t work, Jimmy, you’ll starve. That is the rule in this family.”

Xavier turned to leave but Jimmy was persistent. He ran to block his path.

“Get out of the way, Jimmy.” He was barely holding himself back.

“I heard that Elaine is pregnant.”

“If you say her name from your filthy mouth again, I’ll make sure you regret it.”

Jimmy trembled, his legs threatening to give away. But he didn’t want to appear weak and stood straight, his eyes on Xavier.

“And how are you going to do that?”

“Don’t test me, boy.”

“Well, I’ll say what I’m here for and leave. She’s pregnant, right? Do you know whose kid it is?” He chuckled. “Be taking care of another man’s product.”

“Jimmy.”

“What? I’m only telling the truth. That girl loves me to death, she can’t live without me, don’t you know? The child she’s carrying is mine, not yours.”

Xavier let out a low laughter, his fist tightening. His Nephew clearly was oblivious to who he was dealing with.

“Tell me more?” He pretended to listen while getting closer to him.

“Right. I’m only saying this because you’re my uncle. We’re practically family. Elaine is lying about that baby. I was the one who spent whole nights with her.”

“Oh really?”

“The child is not yours and if you want to get off the woman’s clutches, Uncle. I advise you to dispose of her.” He kept talking, not realizing the danger he was in. “She’s trash after all. All she does is live off our money and sleep around. She was going to pin you with that child and make you believe it is your heir. That baby is…” Before he could complete his words, Xavier lunged at him, punching him on his stomach, and with his knee, he hit Jimmy right in the balls.

Jimmy’s legs gave way and he ended up falling on the floor, his hand on his clutching his balls painfully. But Xavier wasn’t done, was he? He continued kicking him on every part of his body.

“The next time you speak of my wife, I’ll make sure you become impotent for life, do you hear me?” A kick followed after his warning. “I asked, do you hear me?”

“Yes, yes. I'm sorry, fuck.”

Finally letting go of him, he stepped backward. “Filthy bastard. If you so much as go in the zip code of my wife, you’ll have your little wife and baby to mourn, trust me. “If you’re this senseless, I wonder how your baby would grow up to become having two senseless parents.”

“Don’t bring my baby into this,” with strangled breath, Jimmy spoke.

“Trust me, I will. Move.”

Kicking him out of his way, Xavier opened his car and got in, fuming in anger as he drove out of the parking lot.

Getting to the mansion, he stormed in, brushing past the maids.

“Where is my wife?” He asked Grace.

With her head down, she replied. “Mrs Romano is in the kitchen.”

“The kitchen? Doing what?”

“Ba…”

He didn’t need her reply as he was already making his way to the kitchen, his foot coming to a stop at the sight of his wife, her back to him. Noticing his presence, Elaine turned, smiling at him and gesturing for him to come forward.

That was all he needed to light up his world. His wife’s smile. The light in her eyes when her lips curved upward and the way she stared at him was enough to make his whole week delightful.

“Now, who put you to this?” Xavier walked closer and wrapped his hands around her body from behind, his hands caressing her invincible baby bump. Gosh, he could stay like that for the rest of his life, with her wrapped around him and with his baby in her womb.

“I wanted to bake cookies for you.”

He raised a brow. “For me?” Elaine nodded, continuing to knead the dough on the tray. He breathed in her scent, his eyes closing in delight.

“How was work?” She asked.

“Boring as fuck. How was your day, Doll?”

“Not that bad. At least, I didn’t have you to fight with me.”

“I don’t fight with you, Doll.”

“We argue all the time.”

“From your disobedience all the time.”

“And you? You’re overbearing almost all the time. I guess you didn’t know that.”

“Tell me more. Last time I checked, you were the one who kept things from me that made me angry.”

“Other times, we argue too. Just like now.”

He dipped a finger into her dough. “We can do other things than argue, you know.” At that, he smeared the dough on his finger from her left eye down to her lips before breaking away from her.

Elaine gasped, her fingers immediately digging into the dough. She ran after him, smearing her finger around his face and bursting into laughter afterward.

Xavier’s hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer as she laughed. “And now, what should I call you? Dough man?”

He smirked. “You can call me whatever you want, doll.” He carried her on top of the island table. “Babe, baby, love, I’m cool with it.” Their faces grew closer, breath mingling together. He held her hair and angled her head to the side, their lips almost touching.

“Xavier,” she breathed out.

“But the one I’ll most prefer is, Daddy.”
