Chapter 100 She Appeared Again

When Pill caught up with the group, there was still a trace of fresh blood on the fur around its mouth.

Having lived through the apocalypse, William naturally had a backup plan when spinning the wheel at someone else's place. Given the current rate of human evolution, having Pill hidden in the corner was more than enough.

When Francis tried to snatch the Evolution Elixir, he was ambushed by Pill, which had been lying in wait. Pill bit through his throat in one swift motion, while Francis's son, Oscar, had his neck snapped by Natalie, who had been ready and waiting. The fight was over before it even began.

Although Natalie vomited for half a day after killing someone, this first step would help her truly grow into a warrior adapted to the apocalypse.

After confiscating three guns and a grenade, William and his group left, leaving a bow for the ordinary people.

As for the two corpses of the one-star Evolving persons, they became a meal for Pill.

Clearly, after consuming the most essential parts of the two Evolving persons, Pill made significant progress in its evolution. Its body grew larger, and the color of the Magic Crystal on its forehead became lighter. It wouldn't be long before this big dog evolved again.

This incident made the team once again witness the changes in the world and the human greed in the face of profit during the apocalypse.

There was a certain look in everyone's eyes as they slowly adapted to this era of collapsed beliefs.

By the time they saw Happy Supermarket, it was already dark. For humans accustomed to bright lights, the nights of the apocalypse were particularly hard to endure.

Darkness usually represented danger, slaughter, and death.

The small supermarket was silent, no different from other places.

But William still sensed something unusual.

Its door was blocked from the inside by many stuff, causing the rolling shutter door to bulge outward slightly.

"Mr. Wright, what should we do?" he excitedly asked. Jack, who had just become a one-star Evolving person after taking the Evolution Elixir improved by William, was brimming with energy and eager for a fight.

To make someone submit, a combination of kindness and power was undoubtedly the best approach. Having lost several brief skirmishes to William, Jack greatly admired his strength.

As a former armed police officer, Jack had a deep-seated respect for the strong. Now that William had given him the Evolution Elixir, making him an Evolving person, it was clear from his eyes that the simple-minded Jack had almost completely pledged his loyalty to William.

Jack's world was not complicated: whoever treated him well, he would treat well in return.

William stared at the supermarket for a while and said in a low voice, "We must complete the exchange tonight."

"What if they come with ill intentions?" Natalie asked and was worried that those people might not be easy to deal with. After witnessing human greed, she had lost confidence in interacting with others.

"Then we'll force the exchange," William said elegantly, but everyone knew what he meant.

Even though they knew what William meant, no one thought it was wrong. Even the usually sympathetic Lucy looked indifferent. Clearly, the past few days of apocalyptic life had drastically changed their mindset.

"In the apocalypse, there is only strength and weakness, no right or wrong."

This phrase, told to them by William, was often remembered, constantly reminding them of the harshness of this world.

William said, "You all wait here; I'll go in and check it out."

"No way!" His proposal was unanimously rejected by the group, who thought it was too dangerous.

"Don't worry, it'll be fine," William analyzed. He continued, "If they're after the Evolution Elixir, it means they're not Evolving people yet, at least not most of them. So, they're not a threat to me. Plus, I work better alone, I can handle things smoothly. If things get dicey, I'll bail out in a flash."

"Then take Pill with you," she suggested. Seeing that she couldn't change his mind, Natalie immediately pushed Pill to his side.

William agreed, "Alright."

Without further ado, he took the big yellow dog and, under the cover of night, circled to the back of the building, trying to enter through the rear window.

This supermarket was by the roadside, part of an old neighborhood's storefront. To get to the back, he needed to enter the neighborhood.

The darkness affected William somewhat, making him more cautious. He climbed over a decorative fence into the neighborhood and sneaked towards the supermarket's rear window along the building.

From his memory, he quickly made his way to the back of the supermarket. After observing for a moment, he noticed that all the windows were fitted with security bars. Although these couldn't stop him, breaking them violently would make a lot of noise. In such a densely populated neighborhood, this was undoubtedly unwise.

After some consideration, he decided to knock on the window. Thanks to the poor construction materials, he could vaguely hear some deliberately lowered voices inside.

Just as he was about to touch the window, he suddenly pulled back, sensing something was off.

He felt like he was being watched.

It wasn't a skill, but a feeling, an intuition developed over ten years of sleeping with eyes half-open.

He quickly scanned the neighborhood but found nothing unusual.

An illusion?

William dismissed the thought and chose to trust his intuition since it had saved him many times in his previous life.

Given this, he extended his hand again and even turned his body slightly, exposing his back.

The attack came at that moment!

Several faint whistling sounds approached from afar. If not for his keen hearing, he might not have noticed. His extended hand and turned body instantly recoiled, and he darted behind a car in a flash.

From where William had just been standing, there came a series of piercing sounds. In the moonlight, he could see that several thin, gray threads had been shot into the wall!

Before he could get a clearer look, a wildcat's screech came from beside his ear, and several gray claws slashed towards him at lightning speed, making him break out in a cold sweat.

As he ducked, he felt something graze his scalp, and blood immediately flowed. He was injured by the fast attack.

Hearing the cat's screech, he instantly knew what was happening. The witch, whose pet he had injured, was still following him and had launched a sneak attack here!

Pill, seeing its owner being ambushed, leaped at the shadow above its owner, its sharp claws ready to slice the attacker in half.

The voices inside the supermarket instantly fell silent, indicating that they had noticed the commotion outside.

William dodged the attack, rolled on the ground, and evaded another round of those nearly invisible threads in the dark.

Looking up, he saw two figures standing side by side on a stone sculpture about 50 feet away, which bore the neighborhood's name.

The one on the left was the witch with long hair flowing without wind!
