Chapter 286 Encountering the Red-Haired Iron Corpse Again

A Red-haired iron corpse showed up out of nowhere!

William just stood there, totally shocked. He never in a million years thought he'd see the red-haired iron corpse again.

Wasn't it supposed to be dead? Neither the Soul Pearl nor his own blood could bring it back.

So why was it still kicking, and why couldn't he feel any mental link with it?

William couldn't shake the uneasy feeling he had before stepping into The Land of Death. It felt familiar, but he brushed it off. Now he realized it was the red-haired iron corpse's presence.

But now, there seemed to be some sort of connection between William and the red-haired iron corpse, yet also no connection at all.

The red-haired iron corpse looked way different now.

Before, it had rough, sickly grayish-white skin, blood-red eyes, a blank stare, and a creepy vibe. It moved all stiff, like a puppet.

But now, its skin was still a faint grayish-blue but almost like a normal person's. Its eyes were bloodshot but not as bad. It moved smoothly, no stiffness at all. Even bending down to pick up the Evolution Elixir looked natural.

Compared to the old red-haired iron corpse that never left William's side, it now seemed more like a person than a creepy puppet.

The red-haired iron corpse picked up the three-star Evolution Elixir, and its smooth movements paused for a moment, looking in William's direction.

Their eyes met, and it felt like something exploded, leaving both of them in a daze.

William's mind was flooded with memories that weren't his, mostly of dark chases and battles with someone who had a badass mutant black cat.

He also saw strange plants in his mind, with a bit of the plant's soul floating in a gray space. When needed, the plant would come to life and fight.

The red-haired iron corpse stood there stiffly, its expression rigid. New info popped into its mind, not memories, but details about its evolution, strength, and lifespan!

It wasn't until a hand touched its body that the red-haired iron corpse snapped out of it. It turned to see the witch zombie, who would team up with it to kill Evolving persons for energy and then fight over its brain.

The red-haired iron corpse turned around, giving a deep look.

On the other side, the Mutant Mouse King kept squeaking, with Yangos circling overhead, looking less fierce than before.

Several level-four Zombie Kings occasionally exchanged gestures, clearly discussing something.

When the witch and the red-haired iron corpse joined the zombie group, the exchange gradually turned into an argument.

The witch, also a zombie, was evidently more familiar with communicating with other species. Its emotions grew increasingly agitated as it made strange sounds, but it was met with Yangos' roars, the Mutant Mouse King's screeches, and the silence of the other Zombie Kings.

The previously restless three major monster factions had now returned to their previous state. The humans' plan, which they thought had succeeded, had completely failed with just one command from the kings of the three major monster factions.

The monster faction and the mutant animal faction suddenly threatened the zombie faction, causing unrest and anxiety among the zombies. In some controlled border areas, mutant animals and zombies had already skirmished.

The witch and the red-haired iron corpse were expressing something passionately. Seeing this, they turned to the level-four Zombie Kings, but the Zombie Kings exchanged glances and chose to remain silent and retreat.

Yangos called out from above, and the Mouse King answered with a weird noise. Then, a level-three Mutated mouse zipped over and gulped down a drop of the Blood of Evolution.

Almost instantly, a red light burst from the Mutated mouse, way brighter than the light from the spinning roulette earlier. The mouse's body swelled up, its mouth sprouted long fangs, its tail got thicker and longer, and its gray fur turned as hard and sharp as steel needles.

The Magic Crystal on its forehead changed from black to green.

A Mutated mouse had just leveled up to four.

The newly powered-up Mutated mouse looked a bit confused, but the Mouse King whipped it with its tail, sending it flying like a ragdoll. Then, it wrapped its long tail around the newbie's neck and yanked it up close.

A fierce look flashed in the eyes of the newly evolved level-four Mutated mouse. But sensing the Mouse King's deadly intent, it immediately groveled at the Mouse King's feet, rubbing its pointed nose against the Mouse King's belly like a suck-up.

Yangos roared, and the Mouse King responded. The monsters and mutant animals backed off from around the roulette, heading back to their spots, ending the standoff with the zombie horde.

Clearly, the Mouse King and Yangos had struck some kind of deal, but the zombies were left out. The witch and the red-haired iron corpse were trying hard to stir up resistance, but for some reason, the Zombie Kings let it slide.

The Zombie Kings ordered the zombies to return to their previous positions and wait for further instructions. They then blended into the zombie horde, leaving the witch and the red-haired iron corpse, once enemies, standing there alone.

These two humanoid creatures, once considered human by Ernesto Peterson, did not look pleased at all.

The red-haired iron corpse glanced at the spot where its former master had vanished. It lowered its head, burying its face in its long hair, and after a long pause, started to communicate with the witch with difficulty.

William returned to the hotel cold storage, feeling kinda lost. The appearance of the red-haired iron corpse had shaken up his understanding of the post-apocalyptic world.

Seeing William return, Darryl, Sasha, and Basil came over to ask about the timing of the operation, but he told them to stand by.

William sat aside, trying to piece together the connection he had just felt with the red-haired iron corpse. But it was slippery, sometimes there, sometimes not.

William had no clue why this was happening.

So, he decided to go out and test his thoughts.

William wandered around for half a day and found someone who was on the brink of death from a monster attack. He found a quiet spot and started to create a Human puppetry.

He had thought about making another Iron Corpse before, but the lack of level-two Magic Crystals had held him back. Plus, as he and his team leveled up, an Iron Corpse wasn't a top priority.

Blood pool, level-two Magic Crystal, a person near death...

Just like with the Red-haired iron corpse, this male Iron Corpse slowly took shape in the blood pool. After a while, when the blood in the pool had been completely absorbed by the puppet, the newly created Iron Corpse stepped out.

It stood in front of William, and the connection between this Iron Corpse and William was crystal clear.

"I... hate... it," a voice came from behind.

William spun around, and the Edge of the Moon instantly sprang out, pointing at the life form that had snuck up on him.
