Chapter 336 Not Cowardly

Drawn by the roar, folks squinted against the blinding white light.

Some stumbled as the ground shook beneath them.

It was all too weird. No deafening explosion, but there was that blinding light and those tremors you'd expect from one. What the heck was happening?

Then, a burst of gunfire rang out, just a few dozen shots, and then it went quiet.

Arthur peeked out from behind the ghost, his mouth hanging open, bits of meat stuck in his teeth, looking totally shocked.

Terrence got thrown off his horse. When he got up, he was stunned by what he saw, his fingers trembling at his sides.

Candice's vision cleared, and she looked towards the noise. A familiar face stood there, seething with anger.

Brian wiped his face and grinned. Clarissa covered her mouth, tears streaming down her cheeks. The warriors who had been ready to die in battle couldn't hold back and let out a huge cheer.

The folks from Cloud Peak Manor who had just surrendered looked all kinds of conflicted, embarrassed, and ashamed, not knowing what to do next.

The combined forces of Accraville City Prison and the Lowe Family had surrounded the remaining Cloud Peak Manor members, but now, a big gap had opened up in their supposedly tight circle.

There, it was a field of minced bodies.

The scene was so bizarre that the allied soldiers, clueless about what had caused such carnage, couldn't help but feel a chill of fear.

At least fifty people from the combined forces of Accraville City Prison and the Lowe Family had died in the recent explosion, turned into neatly arranged chunks of flesh on the ground.

It was a Magic Crystal Grenade!

Arthur and some prisoners didn't know what it was called, but they had seen its power. Back in Accraville City, William had used it to almost wipe out the Honor Legion.

Now, the terrifying Magic Crystal Grenade had shown up again. After one went off, another was in the hand of a slightly chubby middle-aged man.

Those who recognized the Magic Crystal Grenade were relieved it hadn't landed near them.

But for the stunned Lowe Family troops, it was a hard pill to swallow. The Lowe Family members were almost all relatives, and among the minced meat on the ground could be the close kin of the survivors. Many, after a moment of shock, went mad, either charging at the middle-aged man and his followers in a rage or kneeling on the ground, wailing and sifting through the minced meat for their loved ones.

Another explosion boomed, but it was smaller than the first, with less blinding light and less intense tremors.

The two leading Lowe Family members charging forward became part of the minced meat after a flash of light.

The two who survived screamed and quickly ran back.

"David!" Many Cloud Peak Manor members choked up as they shouted.

The returning folks were David and his assistants, who had been sent away earlier, along with the technical personnel Cloud Peak Manor had deliberately protected. Standing beside them were Darryl's father and uncle, who had become Evolving persons, and members of the Hungry Tiger Knights warband.

While William was away, David tried to whip up two more Magic Crystal bombs. After figuring out that some parts just couldn't be made right, he and his team switched gears to another idea William had pitched—Magic Crystal Firearms.

Without William around, they couldn't use his Artisan skills to make the parts. But David, who was the brains behind Magic Crystal weapons in his past life, knew the ins and outs of these things. He managed to cobble together some makeshift parts. Just a few days ago, he finished the first Magic Crystal pistol.

And that was the sweet piece David was holding now.

It was this Magic Crystal pistol that had just turned those two Lowe Family warriors into chunks of meat.

"Want our Cloud Peak Manor folks to surrender? Did you ask me first?" David's eyes were bloodshot, and he had several wounds on his body—not from fighting, but from struggling to break free from those who tried to stop him from coming back to help.

After leaving his wife's room, David saw himself as one of William's guys. When he got to the Cloud Peak Manor base, he treated it like home and his companions, who had been through thick and thin with him, like family.

In every previous battle, William had kept him out of the fray. At first, he didn't get it, but after seeing the Magic Crystal weapons in action, he understood. So David went along with it because he knew staying alive would help Cloud Peak Manor and William more.

And with his limited strength, he couldn't do much, even after becoming a two-star Evolving person this time.

But this time was different. With Accraville City Prison and the Lowe Family coming at them, David realized the fewer than three hundred people left at Cloud Peak Manor didn't stand a chance. They were totally outgunned and outnumbered in terms of Evolving persons.

With the main force unable to return, David used his status at Cloud Peak Manor and his life as leverage to bring back those willing to fight.

'Everyone is fighting tooth and nail for Cloud Peak Manor. Why can't I? Normally, I could let you protect me, but when you're all in danger, I, David, won't be a coward!' David thought.

This brave father of Magic Crystal weapons came back and saved Candice and the others in crisis. He used the Magic Crystal Grenade and Magic Crystal pistol to scare the enemy and took advantage of their initial shock to empty their bullets, causing some enemy casualties.

The scene went dead silent. No one dared to speak. The impact of these unknown weapons was just too much.

Arthur was eaten up with jealousy, 'Why? Why does William not only have immense strength but also a bunch of subordinates willing to risk their lives for him? Why isn't that enough, and he also has these powerful weapons from who knows where? Such a golden opportunity today, and yet...'

Terrence also hung his head, eyes full of pain. He knew the best chance to take out William's team was gone. Even though the allied forces still had some numbers on their side, his subordinates, including himself, had lost the nerve to keep fighting after the recent explosion and the power of those firearms.
