Chapter 38 The Second Roulette

Jason was stunned, and everyone was stunned.

What was the function of the crystal?

No one was blind. The shiny crystal on the zombie's forehead was right there. It was impossible for them not to be curious about it.

But no one knew what the crystals were for.

Perhaps the students were just slightly puzzled, but Jason was quite obsessed with this thing. Why did he risk offending dozens of teachers and students to demand Natalie and the willow branch? It was all because he wanted to figure out the function of the crystal!

Now, someone told him he knew the answer, and Jason's eyes turned red.
"Speak!"
Grabbing Zachary's collar, Jason almost roared.
"That, that thing, is a crystal, which is probably used to rotate a special roulette."
What?
Everyone quieted down, not quite understanding Zachary's meaning.
Seeing that everyone didn't understand, Zachary explained, "When I was at the supermarket earlier, I found a 7-foot high roulette inside, with many symbols on it. In the center of the roulette, there was a crystal similar to the one on the zombie's head, the only difference being the size. And underneath the roulette, there seemed to be a power device with grooves, the shape identical to the crystal."
Pausing for a moment, Zachary continued, "I think these crystals are the energy source for rotating that kind of roulette."
The entire armory fell silent. Everyone was shocked by Zachary's words.
This kind of crystal? An energy source? A form of energy? A roulette? Rotating?
To anyone who had never seen a roulette before, this all seemed a bit unbelievable.
"Are you sure?"
Jason gasped, glaring at Zachary, "What symbols are on the roulette?"
Zachary shook his head, "I was a bit far away, and just as I was trying to get a clearer look, the zombies arrived, so I had to leave."
Jason lowered his head, squinting his eyes, lost in thought. His subordinates dared not disturb their boss and stood aside.
"I have a proposal, I wonder if Jason is interested!"
"Who?!"
Jason suddenly looked up, the gun he had taken from Zachary pointed in the direction of the voice, where a person was slowly walking toward them with hands raised.
"Howard used to be Mr. Cox's bodyguard, but later served him in prison for five years. After he came out, he became the boss of Southern District. Did I make a mistake?"
The candlelight illuminated the face of this person, the man with a nasal voice who had betrayed Candice.

"Who are you?" Jason's finger touched the trigger, perhaps about to pull it in the next second.
The man with the nasal voice's pupils contracted, smiling, "Just passing through, making some money, the Skyport incident, related to Mr. Cox, do you remember, Jason?"
Jason suddenly realized, but was shocked, that Mr. Cox had used some unsavory and ruthless means to win over his opponents during the battle for the multi-billion dollar Skyport project, and this man should have been the one who acted at the time.

Although Jason was fierce, he never thought he would be more ruthless than someone who sold his life for money, and his momentum suddenly weakened.

"I'm also very interested in the crystal, how about cooperating with us to find out the truth at the supermarket?"

Jason asked, "There are so many zombies there, how do we go?"

"With so many people here, no matter what they do, they should be able to distract the zombies, don't you think, Jason."

Jason gradually made a decision, looking at the students and teachers maliciously.

Seeing Jason's interest, he grinned, "But, to show my sincerity, I'll give you a gift before we cooperate."

Jason raised an eyebrow, asking, "What gift?"
The man's gaze passed over everyone, shouting toward the room at the end of the corridor.

He said, "Officer Wright, and the guy with the machete, come out and meet us, it's not good to hide like this, if you don't show up, I can't guarantee the safety of your woman and these students."

With a swish, the gun barrels of Jason's men suddenly turned toward the end of the corridor, more than seventy feet away.

William's brow twitched, instantly understanding what was going on.

This man must have been hiding somewhere on campus, and when William and Candice returned, he found them. He saw the two enter the armory building, and he sneaked in from the opposite direction, leading to the condition just now.

This guy's mind was so sinister! He cleverly used Jason and his subordinates to deal with himself.

But William didn't panic.

William thought, 'Let me out and I'll go out? Go out and be your target? So what if I'm found? I'll just leave, can you stop me?'

But before he could respond, Candice had already walked out directly.
'Idiot!' William cursed inwardly; Candice must have lost her mind; what was the difference between going out in this situation and walking to her death?

Seeing a person indeed walking out of the room, Jason and his subordinates trusted the man a bit more.

"The very strong man, it's best to come out, his strength is too terrifying, I'll be afraid if he doesn't come out," the man with the nasal voice said.

He somehow pulled out a handgun, further confirming William's guess about his identity: this guy was a killer.

William pondered for a moment and also walked out, which made the man smile.

The man continued, "Jason, actually this man can give a more accurate answer to our questions, don't you think."

Jason laughed, recognizing William, never expecting to find him in this situation.

"Hey, buddy, tell us about the crystal, and what's the deal with all your skills." The man with the nasal voice smiled. A cold light flashed in his hand, a dagger pressed against Natalie's neck. "Tell the truth, otherwise your beautiful friend will suffer."

At this point, Candice also realized her recklessness. It was just her professional habit that made her walk out without hesitation, now realizing how foolish it was to expose herself to the enemy's gun.

William's face was somewhat blurry in the darkness, but his eyes were bright. He sneered, "What's this? Are you trying to blackmail me? Have you figured out the relationship between me and her? Are you so sure that I will let you manipulate me for her? Or do you think I would make any sacrifices for these worthless cowards who don't even dare to stand up for their companions while holding guns?"

Jason and the man were both stunned. Jason had seen William bring Natalie to the school together, instinctively thinking the two were together. And the man, after listening for a while, also believed that Natalie and William had an unusual relationship.

But now, hearing William's words, they suddenly felt doubtful. Could it be that the two weren't together?

William said coldly, "You made a mistake, provoking a more powerful entity without thorough preparation. Do you know, the result of doing so is often not very good."

William took a step forward, making Jason and the others tense.

"Let me teach you what is most needed to learn in the apocalypse." William smiled, his arm moved.

This action made Jason and the man instantly pale.

"Remember to run faster."

William aimed at the window and pulled the trigger.
