Chapter 147 I need half an hour
Natalie’s willow whip wrapped around a giant rock in the ruins, and she leaped into the air. With a flash of light, the Edge of the Moon was thrown over.
Natalie caught it, released the whip, gripped the blade with both hands, and plunged it fiercely into the exposed heart of the sandworm.
The Edge of the Moon pierced the sandworm’s heart, and black blood splattered everywhere, covering Natalie’s head and face. She was instantly drenched in the foul stuff.
She screamed. As a woman who loved cleanliness, the filthy black goo made her feel nauseous.
But she only screamed once. After pulling out the Edge of the Moon, she immediately jumped off its corpse. She knew Candice was still holding on over there, and she had no time to waste.
Candice was indeed in a bit of a mess.
She dodged an attack from a sandworm, swung her Warblade, and struck another sandworm. The force from the attack almost made her drop her blade.
Fortunately, Candice had learned some techniques for exerting force. She applied what she had learned to her knife skills, moved her arm, and barely managed to buffer the force.
Suddenly, the Air Shield beside her shattered again. Candice took the opportunity to sprint forward, dodging the weakened but still dangerous head attack of the sandworm.
The massive head of this monster was too powerful and too hard. At Candice’s current level of a one-star Evolving person, even using the Edge of the Moon would only leave a white mark on it.
This was already the fourth shattered Air Shield. Lucy’s mental strength had dropped to a very dangerous level.
Jack informed, “Candice, we’re here!”
Fortunately, at this moment, Jack and the others had killed their sandworm and came to help.
Natalie suggested, “I’ll handle this one!”
Natalie’s Air Shield was still active, and she took over one of the sandworms.
Candice didn’t waste any words and, together with Jack, began attacking another sandworm from the front and back.
Marcus looked for an opportunity to launch a sneak attack from the side. With the three of them working together, they killed a sandworm in half a minute.
Jack was hit by the sandworm just before it died. Although the Air Shield protected him, the immense force still sent him flying far away. When he landed, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, indicating he was injured.
Gritting his teeth, Jack quickly stood up. He thought to himself, 'The battle isn't over. I can't fall.'
But when he stood up, he saw that the other sandworm had already been killed. William was standing on its corpse, pulling out his Edge of the Moon.
On the other side, the two sandworms William had fought were already dead, and their Magic Crystals had even been dug out.
Jack grinned, thinking to himself, 'Boss is indeed the boss. He is incredibly strong.'
Seeing everyone coming over to ask why he had acted, William said with a grim expression, “No time left.”
Following his gaze, the people standing on the ruins saw that the outside was already filled with thousands of zombies, with some mutated creatures mixed in, showing no signs of attacking each other.
At this moment, only a few hundred feet from the breach caused by the sandworm, zombies had already rushed in. Even if they moved slowly, in one or two minutes, they would climb to where William and the others were standing.
Everyone’s faces turned grim. They all knew that even if they organized people to reinforce the ruins now, it would be too late. William’s previous plan was no longer feasible.
Natalie remarked, “How did they get here so fast? It’s like everything was planned.”
Natalie, constantly wiping the sandworm blood off her head and face with her sleeve, looked at the tide of zombies coming in and spoke with a trembling voice.
She wasn’t afraid of fighting to the death with a level-two mutated creature, but she was terrified of the endless waves of zombies.
Jack chimed in, “Yeah, and so many sandworms attacking the same place. Look, the zombie hordes from other areas have already gathered here. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many gathered here.”
After a Restoration spell from Lucy, Jack had mostly recovered. He pointed with the Edge of the Moon to the sides of the ruins, where there were very few zombies. Almost all of them were concentrated in front of the ruins, as if they knew this place would collapse.
William’s face looked grim. He had some suspicions in his heart, but he didn’t want to voice them.
If his suspicions were correct, then he had little hope of defending the base.
Someone else spoke, “I have a way to stop them.”
A voice came from below the ruins on the base side. Everyone turned to see Michelle standing there with a flatbed cart, neatly arranged with many rectangular packages.
“Michelle!”Candice cheered, rushed down from the ruins, hugged Michelle, and then looked surprised.
Candice wondered aloud, “Michelle, you’ve become an Evolving person?”
Michelle smiled at Candice and then looked up at William standing on the ruins.
“See those two buildings over there?” Michelle said as she pointed to two tall buildings not far away. “If we blow them up and make them fall in the same direction, we can block the entrance from the south district to the other districts, giving the base enough time to reorganize and defend.”
William looked over and saw two tall buildings that were not directly opposite each other but slightly apart. According to Michelle, if they fell together, they would indeed isolate the south district from the base.
Michelle claimed, “Luckily, I found these explosives in the east district. Give me some time, and I can do what I just said.”
Michelle looked up, her mature and charming face shining in the morning light. But Candice felt that Michelle’s eyes were a bit swollen, as if she had just cried.
William’s gaze fell on Candice, who immediately nodded and said, “Michelle’s skills are on par with the most professional demolition experts. This kind of directional blasting is not a big deal for her.”
William asked, “How much time do you need?”
William pondered for a few seconds and then made a decision. Although he had a bad feeling, as if he had encountered something legendary, he still wanted to take a chance until the last moment.
Michelle smiled. She knew what this meant: she was back in the group and had the assurance of the most important person.
“Half an hour. I need half an hour to set up the explosives.” Michelle pointed to Candice and Jack. She added, “I also need their help!”
William gritted his teeth, his gaze sweeping over the zombie horde outside the base. The Magic Crystals on these foul-smelling creatures’ foreheads were like seductive witches, constantly tempting him.
'Great danger often comes with great treasure. Take a gamble!' William thought to himself.
William permitted, “Alright, I’ll give you half an hour. I hope you won’t disappoint me.”
