Chapter 124 Pill has evolved

Almost crashing through the door, William stormed in like a whirlwind.

He had just checked on Pill and knew that the little guy needed to sleep to evolve. The evolution time was uncertain; it could be a few hours or even a day or two.

But how long had it been now? Not even ten minutes, right? How could there be any movement already?

William saw Pill lying on the ground, trembling all over, but its eyes were still closed. The little bit of fur that had grown back after using its special skill in the fight with the witch a few days ago was now rapidly falling off, turning it back into a bald dog.

William also discovered the source of the noise he had heard earlier—it was coming from inside Pill.

It was the sound of bones colliding.

If this sound had occurred during a fight, William would have thought it was the sound of bones breaking, but that was clearly not the case with Pill now.

William moved close and initially wanted to reach out and touch Pill, but he reconsidered. He was afraid that any movement might trigger an irreversible reaction.

Others also rushed to the door to see what was happening. Despite being a dog, Pill was smart and likable, always on guard and scouting ahead. With Pill around, they didn't even need to keep watch at night; its keen ears were the best alarm system.

Moreover, as a mutated animal, Pill was strong, brave in battle, loyal, and reliable, making it a valuable ally. Everyone now saw it as a trustworthy partner.

Seeing William's rare panic, everyone felt anxious and paid even more attention to Pill's condition.

Through the gaps in the crowd, Anthony and Donovan saw a huge mutated yellow dog lying inside the room. They were startled at first, but after noticing the reactions of others, they understood that it was likely a Battle Pet owned by this group. Their envy grew even more.

In the post-apocalyptic world, Battle Pets were an excellent way to enhance one's strength. Although Anthony and Donovan had only been surviving for about ten days and didn't know much about pets. The example of the pig farmer Landon, who had just been taken down, had shown them the importance of Battle Pets. Otherwise, Hope Base wouldn't have been so wary of Landon, who had dozens of pets.

Natalie asked worriedly, "Mr. Wright, what's wrong with Pill?"

Natalie looked tense. The women had a very close relationship with Pill, even more so than with William. Seeing Pill in this state, they all showed signs of concern .

"It should be evolving, but the process..." William was unsure yet still tried to explain, "is a bit intense."

"Boss, look at Pill's fur; it's growing back."Jack whispered from the back, afraid of disturbing the big dog.

William, who had been focusing on Pill's facial expressions, and with Jack's reminder, he noticed that the fur that had fallen off was growing back rapidly and was golden!

Although not a dazzling gold, it was definitely golden.

The fur grew at an incredible speed, covering Pill's body in moments. Especially around the neck, the fur became long and dense, reminiscent of a lion's mane. Although not as exaggerated, the neck fur was indeed denser than the rest of the body. William also noticed that the neck fur seemed very stiff, as it was straight and sharp. In the sunlight, it might even reflect light.

At this point, William felt somewhat relieved because all signs indicated that Pill was evolving instead of being in danger. It seemed that the energy within Pill was a bit wild, making the evolution process intense.

This was understandable. Pill had already been at the peak of first-level evolution, just a step away from second-level evolution. The final bit of energy needed for evolution came from the meat of a second-level peak mutated wild boar, which was almost a whole level higher than Pill. This gave Pill an excess of energy at once, causing the intense reaction.

After a while, the fur stopped growing, and the bone sounds ceased. However, everyone noticed that Pill's mouth was slightly puffed up. This change was subtle, but those who had been with Pill for days noticed it.

Additionally, Pill's four large paws had extended claws, changing from flesh-colored to pale yellow. Upon closer inspection, the claws had become thicker, longer, sharper, and had a metallic sheen.

One could imagine that a swipe from these claws would be deadly.

When all the changes stopped, Pill's body suddenly moved, and its big eyes slowly opened, revealing a flash of light. The dog, now seemingly made of gold, stood up slowly. It was much larger than before, even bigger than the mutated wild boar it had just eaten. It looked more like a giant jungle king than a dog.

Its thick tail swayed, and it yawned towards the sky, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth. The sight of those interlocking fangs sent a chill down many people's spines.

The most noticeable changes were the golden fur and the white Magic Crystal on its forehead.

Pill had finally evolved successfully!

Seeing William squatting nearby, Pill barked and pounced on him. Now as a second-level mutated creature, it surpassed a one-star Evolving person in strength and speed and had a significant advantage size-wise. Standing over 7 feet tall, it towered over the 6.3-foot William. The pounce knocked William to the ground, and Pill's big tongue licked his face until it was soaking wet.

After letting go of William, Pill tilted its head and saw Natalie and Candice nearby. Without hesitation, it pounced on them, making William roll his eyes in disbelief.

After some commotion, everyone snapped out of their joy over Pill's evolution and resumed processing the wild boar meat. William then took Pill outside to a nearby open space.

"Did you get any new special skills through the evolution?" William asked, half-squatting beside Pill, gesturing as he spoke.

Pill understood, shook its head, and seeing its owner disappointed, barked eagerly. Then it shook its body, and William saw two golden beams shoot out from Pill.

A piercing sound came from a nearby building.

William walked over and saw two golden dog hairs, as long as fingers, embedded in the wall, having pierced through it.

What? Did its special skill evolve?
