Chapter 133 Good Gun

Hope Base had three roulette wheels, and besides a secondary wheel, Marcus controlled a primary one.

The formula he had must have come from spinning the wheel.

As for why Simon and Brady allowed Marcus to control a wheel, it was clear that after the formula was spun out, the wheel was no different from other primary wheels, so it wasn't worth fighting over.

But for William, this was perfect. With his basic Exclusion spell, the more ordinary the wheel, the higher the chance of spinning an Evolution Elixir.

Marcus thought for a moment and then nodded in agreement. Although he had a gun, he never used it during hunts because ammunition was limited.  Every shot he fired meant less ammo left, and he needed to save it for potential conflicts with Brady and Simon. So, obtaining these Magic Crystals came at a significant cost. Now, being able to get them so easily, he had no reason to refuse.

Moreover, during the days he had controlled the wheel, his luck had been terrible. Although he had spun it over a dozen times, he hadn't gotten even a single bottle of Evolution Elixir, which left him quite frustrated. These Magic Crystals were enough for him to try his luck again.

Taking William and Anthony to a nearby building, they saw a roulette wheel standing in the stopped elevator shaft, emitting a faint glow that illuminated the surroundings.

Marcus and his four subordinates stepped back, making way for the wheel.

Anthony was visibly excited and nervous. He had only seen the wheel from a distance before, and this was his first time touching such a magical object.

William noticed that since the best formula had already been spun out, it now only required six level-one Magic Crystals to spin. The items on the wheel, aside from the one-star Evolution Elixir, were not particularly enticing.

Under the watchful eyes of those around him, William began to spin the wheel.

He had accumulated over a hundred level-one Magic Crystals, enough for twenty spins. Using the exclusion method consecutively, the wheel kept flashing and spinning, and one item after another dropped from the reward box.

Everyone, including Marcus, was a bit stunned. This was the first time they had seen someone spin the wheel so many times in a row.

William had pretty good luck today. Out of twenty spins, he got three bottles of one-star Evolution Elixir, averaging less than seven spins per bottle.

One of Marcus's subordinates tugged at his sleeve, gesturing towards William. Marcus hesitated but then shook his head.

Although Marcus wasn't an Evolving person, perhaps due to his background as a professional shooting athlete, he had a keen eye. He sensed a hint of danger from the young man spinning the wheel. He wasn't sure what would happen if he launched an attack now.

Another reason Marcus didn't act was that his famous dual pistols were holstered at his thighs, ready for attack at any moment. However, the young man always seemed to position himself behind his companion, blocking Marcus's first shot.

From the moment the first Evolution Elixir was spun out, Marcus had been subconsciously looking for an opportunity to attack but never found one. This made him realize that the young man had been wary of him all along. If he made a move and missed the first shot, the consequences could be dire.

Marcus knew well that even if William was eventually killed by his men, it would be meaningless if something happened to him.

So he didn't act recklessly because he wasn't absolutely sure.

When William turned around, he gave Marcus a smile, which sent chills down Marcus's spine. He realized that the young man knew what he and his men had been planning and was prepared for it.

William walked up to Marcus, causing his subordinates to nervously raise their guns.

William held out three bottles of Evolution Elixir in his palm, presenting them to Marcus. The temptation made Marcus swallow hard.

Although Marcus had initially demanded five Evolution Elixirs, seeing them in front of him made him waver.

He was acutely aware of his situation. Being a non-Evolving person and still holding a position in the base wouldn't last forever. So, Marcus reached out to grab the three bottles of Evolution Elixir.

Yes, he agreed. Just these three bottles were enough to exchange for the formula.

But suddenly, William pulled his hand back, leisurely taking two bottles away.

"What do you mean?" Marcus questioned as he glared at William, clearly displeased.

"Nothing much. I can only give you one bottle of Evolution Elixir," William said, waving his hand to cut off Marcus, who was about to protest. He continued, "Plus, a good gun."

A good gun?

Marcus, an avid gun enthusiast, was immediately intrigued by the mention of a gun.

But he quickly realized that this guy was trying to trick him. He sneered, "I've seen all kinds of guns. A good gun? Do you have a Barrett?"

"There are many things you haven't seen, so don't be so confident," William retorted. As he spoke, his hand moved to his lower back, and he pulled out a handgun that had been Homogeneous Strengthened, retrieving it from a space crystal.

Marcus and his men were startled. They had searched these two before they came in, so how did he still have a gun? This realization made them break out in a cold sweat. If this guy had launched an attack earlier, then...

But soon, Marcus was captivated by the gun.

The strange-looking gun emitted a faint glow.

William loaded a regular bullet into the handgun and handed it to Marcus, gesturing. "Try it."

Marcus slowly took the gun and fired a shot at a target outside.

After the shot, the professional shooting athlete couldn't hide his shock.

This gun had immense power!

Marcus was certain that in all his years, he had never seen a handgun with such power. The bullet he loaded was just a regular one, which meant the power came from the gun itself.

"One bottle of Evolution Elixir and this gun. Take it or leave it." William named his offer.

Marcus agreed immediately, "Deal!"

Marcus didn't hesitate, grabbing the gun and the elixir, afraid William might change his mind.

Half a minute later, Marcus handed William a hidden Sheepskin scroll, completing the transaction under mutual vigilance.

Leaving the East District, William couldn't help but smile.

The Sheepskin scroll had the formula's name: Basic Human Puppetry.
