Chapter 79 The Battle for the Treasure

Natalie took advantage of the length of her whip and was the first to wrap the treasure, surrounded by a halo, into her hand.

The people who suddenly emerged from the shadows of the ruins were Candice, Natalie, Lucy, and others. After being rescued by Candice, Natalie had already contacted William and received orders to hide there.

As soon as they got on their high horses, they took absolute control.

Candice was the second to get a treasure. Her physique as a One-Star Evolver, combined with her professional training, allowed her to smoothly grab a light orb, taking advantage of her position.

After grabbing a light orb, Candice used the slope of the ruins to roll her body and then kicked another light orb toward Lucy, who caught it directly.

From the moment William ran here and shook open the package, scattering the treasures into the air, so that Candice and the others' sudden appearance coukd snatch the treasures, everything happened in a flash, too fast for anyone to react. Just as the treasures began to fall, three of them had already been taken.

Thomas, who was the strongest and closest, didn't have time to stop them. Seeing half of the treasures being taken, he roared in anger and accelerated suddenly. After kicking a stone with his toe, he leaped forward, reaching out with one hand to finally grab a light orb.

The stone he kicked flew and hit Quentin Lewis in the abdomen, who was about to reach for a treasure. The strong man immediately doubled over, spraying a mouthful of blood, and his body uncontrollably flew backward.

Ivan, who was closest to him, reached out to block him, but the immense force transferred to him, causing him to stagger even though he managed to catch Quentin.

"Quentin, are you okay?!" Ivan knew the impact's weight from his stagger and quickly asked Quentin, who was leaning in his arms.

"Fuck, he's really strong," Quentin wiped his mouth and replied, but his face changed immediately, and he spat out another mouthful of blood.

Candice and Ivan might still be somewhat cautious in their actions, given their maturity and experience, but Jack was young and impulsive. He usually listened to Candice the most and had some fear of Ivan, his instructor. Besides them, he feared no one else.

Quentin was his buddy. They did everything together except sleep. Seeing Quentin injured, Jack's heart was filled with killing intent.

Without thinking, Jack raised his gun and aimed directly at Thomas's head.

Thomas broke out in a cold sweat from the shot. He never expected this kid to be so ruthless, shooting at him without hesitation. At this distance, even as a Two-Star evolver, he would surely die if he was hit.

Fortunately, Thomas had been highly alert. The moment Jack raised his gun, he dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the shot. The bullet grazed his ear, causing a sharp pain followed by a cool sensation as a trickle of blood flowed down.

Seeing he missed, Jack's face turned red, thinking his aim was off. Without hesitation, he fired three more shots, forcing Thomas to roll down the ruins in a sorry state.

Although Jack's shots didn't hit Thomas, they forced the Two-Star Evolver off the ruins, inadvertently helping the team a lot. If Thomas had charged over, no one, including Candice, would have been his match.

Though Thomas retreated from the ruins, others arrived nearby. Owen pointed his gun at Candice, who was about to grab another treasure.

"Dodge, Candice!" Ivan hadn't had time to properly tend to the severely injured Quentin when he saw Candice in danger. He shouted and turned his wrist, firing at Owen.

Attacking Owen was the best option now. Ivan could only hope to disrupt Owen's aim.

Candice wasn't as strong as Thomas, but as a One-Star Evolver, she was formidable. If they fought hand-to-hand, even William might not be able to match her. She had already assessed the situation and, seeing Owen raise his gun, abandoned her attempt to grab another treasure and jumped to the side.

Owen's shot missed.

Ivan's gun fired almost simultaneously, but he missed too. Supporting Quentin and shooting with his less skilled left hand, he fired hastily, and his shot flew past Owen's side.

Owen was startled and instinctively wanted to retaliate, but he saw a light orb falling towards him and reached out for it.

Just before the treasure touched his hand, a beam of light suddenly shot from the side. Owen instinctively pulled back his hand, and the light beam flew past where his hand had been, slicing a nearby broken wall, at least 6 inches thick, in half.

"Get lost!" Peter shouted.

After the terrifying light blade, a roar and a gust of cold wind followed. Owen turned his head to see a man with a white spear thrusting at him from the ruins, reaching him in the blink of an eye.

Owen had to give up the treasure and kick the spear shaft.

The attacker was from the previous trio. They hadn't caught up with Candice and the others in the initial treasure snatch, but they wouldn't let these treasures fall into others' hands now.

A One-Star Evolver was strong, but against another One-Star Evolver and professional spearman like Peter, Owen's kick was ineffective. Pain surged through him, and his body was knocked back. He steadied himself after pushing off the ground with both hands.

"It's mine!"Ulysses claimed as he smiled triumphantly, grabbing the light orb.

The three of them finally secured a treasure through their cooperation.

At this moment, Owen's men were the most numerous, but their leader and Thomas were in the melee.  As a horde of zombies was rushing towards them, they didn't dare to shoot or get too close. If they didn't hesitate to intercept, they would become the monsters' food.

Caleb's group had the most people besides them, but none of them were evolvers. They were also held back by the Corpse Ape and its zombie army. Even if they freed some people, they wouldn't dare approach the battle on the ruins, as the displayed strength was beyond their reach.

Caleb's face was grim as he watched the intense treasure battle. He suddenly gave the person next to him an order.

"Open fire!" Caleb commanded.

The people around him were stunned.

"At whom?"Bert, who had clashed with Candice, asked dumbly.

Caleb was furious, turning and slapping Bert's face, spitting as he shouted, "At whom? Are any of our people there? Of course, it's indiscriminate shooting!"

Standing not far from Caleb, Michelle was filled with disbelief.

Michelle thought, 'How dare the leader order to shoot towards his kind in such a situation? Candice and Ivan are still there!'

But Michelle, once the best SWAT officer, raised her gun and was the first to fire.

Her shot was way off, missing by a mile. She thought to herself, 'Candice, this is all I can do to help you.'

With that shot, gunfire erupted on the ruins again, drawing much attention.

The young man who had scattered the treasures was now shooting at the approaching Chain Prisoner!

A thought crossed everyone's mind.

'He must be crazy!'
