Chapter 346 Wendy Simmons' Secret

The next day around noon, Michelle strolled out of William's room looking all lazy, and she shocked everyone who had come to chat with them. They quickly figured out that she was now the lady of the Cloud Peak Manor.

Actually, Michelle should be called the first lady.

Jack couldn't help but circle around Michelle for what felt like forever, grinning like a fool, until Michelle finally smacked him on the back of the head. "Get lost."

Jack was pretty scared of Michelle. He ducked his head and, after rolling his eyes a bit, muttered under his breath, "I didn't see that coming, Michelle. Thought it would be that Instagram model or Ms. Foster."

Michelle lifted her foot to kick him, and Jack took off laughing.

Licking her slightly dry lips and stretching her tired legs, Michelle thought back to the wild night before and smiled to herself.

Seeing the somewhat downcast model from afar, Michelle shook her head and muttered, "Still too naive, not proactive enough."

But after saying that, the smile on Michelle's face slowly faded as she looked up at the sky outside the estate. 'William, please come back safe.'

Winter was coming, and the first real test of harsh weather since the apocalypse was about to hit. William knew that many survivors had escaped the zombies only to fall to the brutal cold of the first winter.

He wondered if he could make it back before the first snow.

Brook Deadland lay ahead, a distant memory for William—just a name and a location, nothing more.

He figured that in his past life, this place had probably been taken over early by the Honor Legion, turning it into their supply depot and resource hub. As someone who arrived in Accraville City years later, William couldn't possibly know these secret details.

Passing through the faint blue Chaos Barrier, William stepped into the Land of Death.

This was his last stop before entering the Secret Realm, and it was bound to be a bloodbath because of his arrival.

Wendy slammed a giant hammer into the head of the Vicious Lizard, not even flinching as its spiked tail swung towards her waist.

Connor, seeing this, jumped over and knocked Wendy out of the way, using his giant shield to block the attack.

After a loud crash, Connor stumbled back, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. Seeing Bradley and two captains holding off the Vicious Lizard, he spat out a mouthful of blood, tossed aside his shattered shield, and glared angrily at Wendy.

"Wendy Simmons!" Connor was beyond furious. The anger he'd been bottling up for days finally exploded. He rushed up to the red-eyed, murderous-looking woman and started yelling.

"Do you have a death wish? How many hits can your Verdant Armor take from the Vicious Lizard? Or do you think your Skyquake Hammer can instantly kill a level-five mutant? That's a monster about to hit level six! Get a grip! Patrick is crippled, and we're all upset, but don't forget, Patrick sacrificed his own interests to give you your evolution level and all your gear.. He didn't give you all this so you could throw your life away; he wanted you to live well!"

Connor was usually a gentle guy, always smiling. Despite most of his core team being older than him, he was still a esteemed leader.

He had lost his temper before, even personally taking out subordinates who broke the Honor Legion's rules, but he had never been this angry.

Wendy's antics over the past few days had really gotten under Connor's skin.

Wendy stiffened, breathing heavily, refusing to look at the fuming Connor in front of her.

Connor yelled, "Are you throwing a fit because I won't let you get revenge? Let's not even get into whether it's right to ditch your comrades who fought beside you. Do you think being a four-star Evolving person with some white gear and one decent green piece makes you invincible? You need to know that the Captain of Cloud Peak Manor is also level four! And now he has a level-five Battle Pet! Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

"I'm not scared of him, I have..." Wendy started.

"Shut up!" Connor's voice cracked from shouting, "If you dare say it, I'll kill you! Do you hear me, I'll kill you!"

At that moment, the battle between the Honor Legion and the monsters came to a standstill. Without Connor and Wendy, the two strongest fighters, the human offensive once again failed.

However, over the past few days, under Wendy's nearly insane attacks, less than one-seventh of Brook Deadland remained unconquered by the Honor Legion.

Even the Vicious Lizard, which had been promoted to the lord of the Land of Death, was severely injured and barely holding on. Both sides knew that it and its monster army wouldn't last much longer.

"Wendy, we've dropped to ninth place! And the thing you want to use is our last secret. You better not mention it casually. If you use it in a moment of impulsiveness, we won't be able to explain it to Patrick. You know that skill is far more intimidating when kept than when used." Bradley, wiping the blood off his face, walked over to ease the tense atmosphere. After ordering his subordinates to clean up the battlefield, he pulled the still-angry Connor and nudged the stubborn Wendy.

These folks were like family, having been together since before the apocalypse. After venting, their emotions slowly calmed down, and they began to pack up and head back to camp. But after walking a short distance, they noticed a column of black smoke rising in the distance.

Everyone was stunned at first, and then their expressions changed.

That was the direction of the Honor Legion's camp!

There was only one possibility for such a column of fire: the camp had been attacked and set on fire.

Connor led the group in a swift run towards the camp, with Wendy running even faster. There were not only over a hundred personnel left behind in the Honor Ninth Legion but also the injured Patrick!

When they arrived half an hour later, they found the camp had been completely burned down, with a large amount of supplies reduced to ashes. The camp was filled with the corpses of the personnel left behind.

Connor's vision went black, and he swayed before steadying himself. The continuous blows over this period had pushed him to the brink of collapse.

"Check what kind of monster did this? Track its traces; we need to kill it to avenge our companions." Bradley, with bloodshot eyes, shouted orders, and someone immediately began to investigate. But the next second, they were stunned by Connor's words.

"It was humans." Connor's face was grim. "Humans did this. Those are knife wounds, blunt force trauma, and bullet wounds!"

The Honor Legion warriors were stunned. 'Humans? Who? Which force dares to enter the Land of Death and provoke the Honor Legion? Are they courting death?'

Connor, panting, wanted to say something but suddenly widened his eyes and urgently asked, "Where's Wendy?"

Bradley and the others were taken aback. They thought Wendy was just here.

A roar suddenly came from the depths of the camp, and everyone looked up, immediately cottoning on something.

That was Patrick and Wendy's tent.

"The enemy hasn't left!" Connor rushed over directly.
