Chapter 285 The Whole Body Is a Treasure
A burst of fire lit up behind the high-rise buildings blocking his view. William knew it was Yangos spewing flames again.
This Dragon just couldn't resist the lure of The Blood of Evolution and took another shot at the roulette.
Unfortunately, the roulette was indestructible. Only humans could use it, so all that effort was pointless.
Still, William couldn't help but feel a bit freaked out by Yangos' power. At level five, this Dragon was already a beast. It could breathe fire, and its strength and size were off the charts.
William thought Yangos looked even bigger now compared to his past life. Maybe it was because he was seeing it from the ground this time, not from the sky.
But no matter which life they were in, William always felt helpless against this Dragon.
Yet, something had changed in him since his rebirth. A rare glint of greed flashed in his eyes as he looked at Yangos.
If he could take down the Dragon, it wouldn't just be about getting a level five Magic Crystal. Yangos was a goldmine.
Dragon skin and scales were top-notch for making armor. They had amazing toughness, defense, and resistance to elemental damage, and they lasted forever.
Dragon eyes, when processed right, could boost vision-related skills almost like a Career Promotion Scroll. High-level pros would hunt for Dragon eyes to level up their abilities. Plus, Dragon eyes could be turned into awesome attribute crystals, perfect for spellcasters and craftsmen to boost their gear.
Dragon horns were prime material for weapons. The most famous Dragon horn sword was made from this stuff. Even with the basic formula, a Dragon horn weapon would be at least green quality, usually starting at purple.
Dragon Claws were the best for adding and enchanting. If an Artisan got their hands on one and integrated it into gear, the sharpness would skyrocket. Enchant a bullet with Dragon Claw, and even level seven and above mutants would have to back off.
Dragon Blood, just like the legends, could toughen skin and boost recovery when soaked in it. It wasn't as crazy as the legends, but it was enough to make any weapon below green quality look like a joke.
Dragon meat was like a natural Evolution Elixir, boosting physical strength. Rumor had it that the meat from the mightiest Silver and Golden Dragons could give you a nearly indestructible body and insane strength.
Dragon tendons and beards was top-tier stuff for making whips and ropes.
Dragon wings, when crafted by skilled Artisans, could turn the dream of flying into reality.
Dragon Brain was a fantastic mental power booster.
And then there was the Dragon Crystal, the most precious part. Its uses were varied and mysterious. Killing a dragon was so rare that William didn't know anyone who'd done it in his past life.
Even rarer was the Dragon Egg. If a knight got their hands on one, it could unlock new skills and turn them into a top-tier Dragon Knight.
Basically, every part of a dragon was a treasure trove, and William, being an Artisan, knew how to use these materials. In his past life, Yangos was a terrifying level nine. Now, at level five, if William didn't feel a bit greedy, he wouldn't be a true survivor of the apocalypse.
But he also knew he wasn't strong enough to take down Yangos yet, which was a real bummer.
Yangos' rampage caused quite a stir. As a level five evolved being, it was the top dog around. It didn't mess with the mutant animal and zombie camps, and they didn't mess with it either. Yangos' strength was so intimidating that he could even tolerate dragon's occasional outbursts.
After watching for a bit, William decided to slip away. If things stayed the same, he'd need to evolve to a five-star Evolving person fast and have a team with an average evolution level of three-star Evolving persons to break the deadlock. Otherwise, all his plans would just be pipe dreams against so many high-level mutants.
But then something wild happened.
Just as William was about to leave, he turned back. He saw a group of people rappelling down a building near the roulette.
It wasn't the Zero Commerce Guild; it was folks from the Accraville City faction.
They landed right behind the mutated animal camp and launched an attack.
What were they up to? William shifted his position to get a better look.
These attackers were no joke; it was clear they were all Evolving persons, with at least a quarter of them being two-star Evolving persons.
This squad was almost effortlessly mowing down the mutated animals they ambushed. Before the animals could even react, the attackers climbed back up the ropes and returned to the rooftop. There, a giant trampoline was set up, and they bounced to another rooftop and took off.
Seeing more and more mutated beings gathering below that building, William was even more puzzled. "Fight once and leave? Not even taking the Magic Crystals? What are they trying to pull?"
As if answering his question, a commotion erupted behind the monster camp led by Yangos. William couldn't see it from his angle, but he could tell from the reactions of some monsters in front.
At the same time, human survivors appeared at the rear of the zombie camp, and there were more of them than those who had ambushed the mutated animals.
A battle broke out suddenly.
This group of humans was strong, almost immediately breaking into the zombie horde. But they moved in an orderly fashion, advancing and retreating in short bursts. When the zombies turned around and lunged at them, they began to retreat, leading the zombies towards the mutated animals that had failed to catch the humans earlier.
William pieced it together. The forces from Accraville City might have temporarily united to create chaos among the three camps.
But if chaos ensued, could they get close to the roulette? Yangos was right under the roulette! Even if William, Chester, and Quincy, the three strongest, joined forces, they wouldn't stand a chance against this Dragon.
Suddenly, a bright, dazzling light shot out from a building, targeting Yangos' massive body.
With his sharp eyesight, William could barely make out that it was an arrow wrapped in light, likely shot by a professional—a special move of a mid-level Archer.
Yangos, who was venting its remaining energy, was suddenly attacked and immediately went berserk. Its scales stood up, and its massive wings spread open as it charged towards the building.
As for the arrow, Yangos casually swatted it away with its wing, and the arrow vanished.
William's eyes lit up. Were they trying to lure Yangos away?
As he suspected, as soon as Yangos left, he saw the heating duct well on a street not far from the roulette being opened, and several figures quickly rushed towards the roulette.
William thought for a moment, then jumped straight off the rooftop. Using his knife to catch on the windowsills every couple of floors, he slowed his descent and hit the ground in no time.
Even if he possessed the body of a three-star Evolving person, the jump made his legs tingle. But there was no time to rest. He quickly circled towards the roulette.
These humans were gutsy, and their plan wasn't half bad, but they didn't throw enough into it.
The chaos they caused wasn't enough. The distraction power of so few people was limited. If William were in charge and everyone followed his lead, they might have had a shot. But now, he knew they were doomed to fail.
These mutated beings were smart; they were waiting for humans to make a move!
William's plan was to take advantage of the chaos and see if he could find an opening when these monsters fought over the Blood of Evolution.
The light from the roulette lit up the sky again. The people under the roulette looked excited as they turned to the potion section and lit up the three-star Evolution Elixir!
A creepy laugh echoed, and they turned to see a child-sized Mutated mouse grinning at them, a glaring green Magic Crystal on its forehead.
A drop of red liquid dripped from the roulette, and the enticing scent spread again.
A thick, red-brown tail as thick as a man's arm rose behind the Mutated mouse, like a sharp spear, piercing into a human's eye socket with a trail of afterimages.
Behind the roulette, several level-four zombies of various shapes emerged, cruelly eyeing the humans. Moments later, the roulette was splattered with blood.
By this time, William had jumped to a ruin only a few hundred feet away from the roulette. After killing two zombies that were originally there and smearing their blood all over himself, he peeked from behind the ruins, just in time to see the brutal slaughter of these humans.
A shadow passed overhead, and Yangos returned above the roulette, flapping its wings and circling back and forth, looking down at the Mouse King and several zombie kings with a mocking gaze.
The leaders of the major monsters were facing off over the Blood of Evolution.
William watched quietly, observing the strongest mutated beings from Accraville City and the three-star Evolution Elixir that was thrown aside and ignored.
Suddenly, a hand reached for the potion, and William's gaze followed the hand to see its owner clearly.
