Chapter 108 Looking for Someone

William woke up to the sound of commotion outside.

"Captain, how about that move? Pretty impressive, right?" Jack remarked, looking smug, swung his stick around and grinned cheekily at Candice.

Earlier, he had managed to force Candice back with a single strike, which made him very excited. In the past, let alone defeating Candice, it was difficult for him to even get close to her. Now, he became an Evolving person. Combined with his better male physique, he was almost on par with Candice in terms of physical strength.

"Idiot, I was just going easy on you," Candice rolled her eyes then scolded him. She was always blunt with Jack, and she hadn't been very serious earlier.

Pill, who was watching the fun, barked a couple of times, though it was unclear who it was cheering for.

Natalie and Lucy were busy cooking on the side.

Michelle sat nearby, watching Candice and Jack with a hint of envy in her eyes.

The power of the Evolving person made her itch with desire. She used to be a police officer, and a very capable one at that time. Seeing her former colleagues displaying such great abilities, how could she not be tempted?

But Michelle had her own plans. She secretly clenched the Evolution Elixir in her hand, a happy smile appearing on her face.

It had been over ten hours since the battle last night. Lucy, the Apostle of Light, had recovered her mental strength much faster than William had expected. By morning, she had already recovered half of it. After a few Restoration spells, the injured Jack and Pill were almost fully healed. After resting on the rooftop for a night, everyone in the team was back in good shape.

Seeing William get up, everyone greeted him. His strength and life-saving actions at critical moments had earned him everyone's respect and confidence. Their attitude towards him was now completely different from when the team was first formed.

Even though it had only been a day.

Jack asked, "Boss, I can now hold my own against Candice for a while. Can I use the Edge of the Moon?"

Candice retorted, "Dream on! If you want to die, just say so."

Last night, Candice had used the Edge of the Moon to fend off Thomas, and she had fallen in love with the sharp weapon. There was no way she would give it to him.

"Boss" was Jack's new nickname for William.

William, influenced by Jack and Candice's emotions, smiled and let go of the frustration of letting Thomas escape due to exhaustion from using the Flame Blade twice. He joked, "It's just a knife, isn't it?"

"A knife?" Jack came over, gesturing as he spoke, "Ya didn't see Thomas last night. Even though he had the upper hand with his high evolution level, he didn't dare touch the Edge of the Moon's blade. At most, he would find a chance to tap the back of the blade. His fear of this sword was really evident."

In his excitement, Jack's accent came out.

William nonchalantly replied, "I'll just make you another one."

What?

Jack's mouth could fit a whole egg as he stared wide-eyed at William. The others also looked over when they heard William say this.

Everyone had always been curious about William's profession, yet he had never gone into detail, and they didn't dare to ask. Now, upon hearing this, they all paid attention.

With a smile, William walked over to a tower crane on the rooftop. With a casual wave of his hand, he used the forging skill of Honorable Artisan. The large tower crane instantly turned into a pool of liquid metal, which then combined, condensed, and took shape...

This magical scene left everyone dumbfounded, not daring to blink for fear of missing something.

William, unhurried, added a few pieces of bone he had stripped from the Bone Demon yesterday, and threw in some leftover materials. Moments later, they transformed into a brand-new Edge of the Moon.

Fortunately, he succeeded this time and didn't embarrass himself in front of everyone.

This Edge of the Moon, in addition to its basic attributes, had a slight increase in sharpness and 10 points of durability. Its attributes couldn't compare to William's own weapon, but it was on par with the previous one.

Without better materials and a higher professional level, William didn't plan to waste Devil's Gold on this kind of forging, so he didn't add it in.

"Fuck!" Jack cursed repeatedly in astonishment. This miraculous forging made him shout excitedly, eager to take a careful look at the freshly made silver knife.

William raised his chin arrogantly, and said, "You wanted the Edge of the Moon, right? Here you go."

"William, this is so amazing!" Natalie exclaimed. The only one who could call him so affectionately and naturally was the female internet celebrity. Seeing William display such an extraordinary ability, she looked as proud as if she had done it herself.

"Yeah, William, what skill is this?" Lucy asked as she also circled around the newly made Edge of the Moon, trying to discover something from it.

William explained to them, "My secondary profession, Honorable Artisan."

"Wow, that's awesome, boss! Make another one!" Jack excitedly requested, actually he wanted Michelle to have one too. After all, she had specifically trained in knife skills. If she had such a sharp knife in hand, she could even fight an Evolving person.

William gave him a stern look, and said, "You think it's as common as cabbage? Besides the other materials, it costs a Level 2 Magic Crystal. If I hadn't killed another Level 2 zombie last night, we wouldn't even have this knife."

Jack awkwardly shrank his neck at the mention of the Level 2 Magic Crystal. Currently, only William had the ability to kill a Level 2 mutated creature alone. The others needed to work together, so even for their now powerful team, a Level 2 Magic Crystal was very precious.

Michelle lowered her head, her expression somewhat complicated and her heart heavy. Although she was among the group, she felt a clear sense of detachment. It was obvious that William didn't consider her one of his own.

This was understandable, considering she was planning to leave, but it still made her upset.

"William," Candice walked over, glanced at the new Edge of the Moon that looked very similar to the one in her hand, and asked, "This place hasn't deviated from our planned route. Where do we go now?"

William walked to the edge of the rooftop, looked down, and compared it with the city map he had memorized. He pointed to a cyan building not far away.

William stated, "We're heading there, to find someone."

David Chambers crouched in a corner, hugging his knees and burying his head deeply between them. This made him feel a bit better, considering there were several piles of human excrement nearby, some fresh and some dried and hard.

He used to be a senior engineer at a precision instrument factory, earning one of the top five salaries in the factory before the apocalypse. He had been living quite well in this city.

However, his wife was still not satisfied, constantly nagging that with David's skills, he could have earned a six-figure salary by switching to a better company..

David was timid, lacking in pioneering spirit. He preferred staying in the company for stability, which caused many quarrels between him and his wife. But being a senior engineer had its perks, and his annual salary of several tens of thousands of dollars was decent, so nothing else happened.

But when the apocalypse suddenly struck, everything changed. His proud skills became useless now. His frail body and severe nearsightedness robbed him of the charm and influence that came with being an engineer.

That day, many employees of the instrument factory had spontaneously gathered in a residential building, including David and his wife.

But what happened next threw David in despair.
