Chapter 103 Exchange
The mutated black cat obviously didn't expect the big dog it had scratched all over to launch an attack at that very moment. Hearing the commotion behind it, it instinctively began to dodge frantically.
But how much fur did Pill have? How could it be so easily avoided?
The black cat let out a miserable cry as Pill's fur struck all over its hindquarters. Although this skill wasn't as powerful as the witch's strands of hair attack , its sheer quantity was overwhelming.
The fur pierced into the hindquarters of the black cat's body, immediately causing this lightning-fast mutated animal to fall from the air, hitting the ground with a scream.
More fur was driven into its body by the impact. Although the attack was not fatal, the black cat began to lose consciousness, struggling a few times on the ground but unable to get up.
Pill, now a bald dog, wouldn't miss this golden opportunity. Ignoring its own wounds, it pounced forward, thinking that as long as it ate this mutated black cat, it could evolve.
Over there, the witch was knocked down by the Iron Man that had transformed from a street lamp, looking very miserable. Blood was seeping from her eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. Her blood was a very peculiar color, sky blue, flowing onto her pale face, making her look like a vengeful ghost in the night.
Having her innate skill interrupted dealt a heavy blow to the witch. Already hit hard by a shield, she was barely holding on. When she noticed that Iron Man that had pounced on her was about to continue its attack, a few strands of hair suddenly flew out from her head, instantly shooting into Iron Man's body.
This Iron Man, which was transformed from a street lamp, was too weak. William hadn't invested much mental energy into it, so its durability was only 10. It was instantly pierced by Witch's hair strands and exploded into metal fragments with a flash of light.
But this brief moment allowed William to recover, his vision returning. Seeing the witch's miserable state, he stepped forward with his knife, intending to end her life. He wanted her to know that not everyone could be provoked.
But at this moment, the Bone Demon, which had been "dancing" on the side, probably sensing little hope, roared and charged towards William.
William had to turn around and with one swift stroke, he directly cut off the evil head of the Bone Demon and retrieved the Golden Cloth back into the space crystal.
This delay gave the witch a chance. She knew she had completely failed today and would be truly trapped if she didn't escape now.
With high intelligence, she quickly ran towards her black cat, a few strands of hair attacking to drive away Pill. She picked up her immobile pet and began to flee frantically.
By the time William noticed, she had already run several hundred feet away.
Being ambushed by her had already irritated William. Seeing his prey about to escape, how could he let her get away? He took a deep breath and was about to chase after her.
But suddenly, voices came from the supermarket behind him. With his keen hearing, William he caught wind of it, causing a slight hesitation in his heart. This hesitation allowed the witch, a second-level mutated zombie, to escape quickly and disappear from William's sight.
The voices from the supermarket reminded William of what he had to do today. He feared that if he chased after her, these people would be gone by the time he returned.
This weighing of options made him lose the chance to eliminate the threat completely.
Regretting it, William dug out the Bone Demon's Magic Crystal and tossed the body aside. He patted Pill, whispered a few words, and the dog limped away.
The battle had attracted many zombies to the neighborhood. These guys were nothing to William. He quickly cleared the nearby zombies, made some noise elsewhere to draw their attention, and then gently knocked on the supermarket window, asking if anyone was there.
The supermarket was silent.
"Don't worry, I mean no harm. I'm here to trade. I just encountered some zombies and had a fight." Pausing for a moment, he continued, "I'm alone and have Evolution Elixir."
Making people feel safe and offering something they need was the golden rule of trading in the apocalypse.
William leaned against the wall, listening carefully. He heard people inside discussing in low voices after half a minute of silence. He remained patient and did not rush or urge them further.
After two minutes, a crack finally appeared in the window inside, revealing the face of a middle-aged person. After scanning the surroundings cautiously and spotting William, he lowered his voice and asked, "Where did you get the information?"
William replied, "Ulysses Taylor."
The middle-aged man questioned, "Are you alone?"
William answered, "Yes."
The middle-aged man asked, "Are there any zombies around?"
William replied, "They've all been drawn away."
After a brief and direct conversation, the window closed again. After a while, the same man took out a key and opened the security window, waving at William as he instructed, "Come in, slowly, with your hands where I can see them."
William complied, cautiously jumping into the room through the window.
The window quickly closed and was covered with thick curtains. Someone lit a candle with a lighter, illuminating the room.
William glanced around and saw Eli standing directly in front of him, holding a crude crossbow aimed at him. In the two corners of the room stood two men, and the middle-aged man who had opened the window stood behind him.
There were still some noises outside the room, indicating that there were others out there.
One of them demanded, "Where's the Evolution Elixir? We need to see it first."
William nodded, slowly opened his backpack to avoid any misunderstandings, and took out a bottle of Evolution Elixir.
William stated, "I have more, but I also need to see your goods."
Eli hesitated for a moment, then nodded to a young man in the corner. The young man took out a package from behind , carefully opened it, and took out a Professional certificate emitting a faint glow.
He opened it and showed it to William.
Items that could be used directly were not allowed to be held by the buyer during a trade. These people seemed to understand this rule at the beginning of the apocalypse.
William looked over, his eyes twitching slightly. He gritted his teeth, trying to remain calm, and nodded to the young man, indicating he had seen it.
William asked, "How do you want to trade?"
William's gaze locked onto Eli, who had been cautiously keeping his distance and never letting go of his crossbow. He knew this person was in charge.
Eli demanded, "Six bottles of one-star Evolution Elixir!"
Eli's eyes flickered as he threw out a rather outrageous price.
"Too steep," William replied as he shook his head in disagreement.
"You don't know the true value," the young man who had shown him the certificate sneered, as if William had bad taste.
William offered, "Two bottles."
William ignored the young man. Such a tactic was too low-level for him.
Eli insisted, "Nope, too low. At least five bottles!"
William said firmly, "Three bottles, at most."
Eli paused, clearly considering the offer.
A few seconds later, Eli slowly shook his head dismissively, and said, "Minimum of four bottles, or you can walk away if you don't have it."
