Chapter 15 The Arm Glowing with Darkness

These students were asked, and they were stunned for a moment before reacting.

"I, I didn't see anything," one student said softly, looking a bit embarrassed, apparently feeling guilty for not helping after William saved him.

William's gaze fell on the others, and they all shook their heads, saying they saw the bright light but didn't pay much attention to where it landed.

Outside the door, downstairs, and in the campus, there were monsters that preyed on people, with blood, limbs, and bodies scattered everywhere. The fragile students were on the brink of collapse mentally, eagerly awaiting rescue rather than paying attention to any strange light outside the window.

He felt a slight disappointment. It seemed he had to find it himself. Fortunately, this was William's alma mater. Although the campus was not small, he was very familiar with it. It might take some time, but he would eventually find it. The probability of someone else finding the key first was higher.

However, this was unavoidable. Since the beginning of the apocalypse, he had to survive in this bloody hell, requiring not only strong power but also extraordinary luck.

"It seems like Mrs. Foster mentioned she saw it."

A male student with gold-rimmed glasses and upscale clothing suddenly said, catching William's attention.

"Who is Mrs. Foster?"

Upon hearing the question from the blood-stained man carrying a machete, the student quickly replied. "She is our class counselor, trapped in the classroom with us, and she's still in there."

He pointed to the classroom they had just escaped from.

Lucy Foster was still trapped in the classroom and hadn't come out.

William thought, ‘Should I save her or not?’

Looking at the nearly hundred zombies gathered in the small square, William frowned.

He could kill all these zombies, but he couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't get hurt. Before gaining immunity to the zombie virus, getting injured was no different from death.

Rationally, he shouldn't take this risk. However, the allure of the key to the enclave was too strong. He feared that if he delayed, someone else might get it first.

After weighing his options, William decided to save Lucy.

Even if it was risky, he wouldn't give up the hope of obtaining the key to the enclave. The attraction of the enclave was just too great for him.

"Do you see the three-story building of the Armory?" William pointed to a slightly dilapidated building on the other side, the office building of the school's Armory, which also functioned as a warehouse. It was busy during freshman military training, but otherwise, it was rarely populated.

"Go there and hide."

Upon hearing William's words, the long-haired beauty became anxious. Although she was young, she had been in society for a long time, and her mind was clear. Compared to this man, these weak university students were useless. They would stumble even while running, let alone having good stamina like her. Having her stay with these students? It was a joke. Her safety value would immediately drop to a negative number!

"You can't leave me behind."

In her haste, the long-haired beauty tried to grab William, but in the man's firm gaze, she withdrew her hand. She was somewhat fearful of her savior.

But the long-haired beauty suddenly raised the mutated willow branch in her hand. "I still need to hold onto this for you."

"Aren't you Natalie!" A student suddenly exclaimed, recognizing the familiar long-haired beauty.

Upon hearing this, the others also remembered. This woman, who now looked pleading and even a bit flattering, was the goddess in the hearts of these nerdy students, a star with millions of fans on Reddit, combining roles as an internet singer, a popular car model, a print ad model, and a spokesperson for a fashion game!

Even in such a crisis, with zombies gradually approaching, the appearance of such a beauty that could only be fantasized about privately made these students' adrenaline rush, plunging them into an excited state.

However, Natalie Davis just rolled her eyes, completely ignoring these students who probably spent a lot of money on her. She had been watching William with hope.

A processed mutated willow branch was a good weapon. If she lost it, she would really regret it. After a brief thought, he said in a deep voice, "Go there and wait for me. I will take you to a safe place when I come back."

After that, William observed the position of the zombie horde and ran in a direction, using a fire axe to make rhythmic noises on the ground to attract most of the zombies' attention.

"What about the zombies over there?" The student with glasses and a seemingly good background raised his voice slightly.

Although the area was usually sparsely populated, it didn't mean it was safe.

"Kill them yourselves, or you won't have the right to survive in the apocalypse."

A distant reply came, causing Natalie and the students to fall silent.

Most of the zombie horde had been drawn away. Taking advantage of his One-Star evolver's advantage, William circled around and climbed up the drainpipe to the back of the building. It wasn't difficult for him.

When he reached the fourth floor, he leaped to a nearby window ledge.

Downstairs, some zombies had arrived, but they could only circle around below, not understanding why the smell of food was still there but they couldn't find it.

Luckily, the window was open. William bent down, slipping in and jumping into the corridor.

The white walls were splattered with blood, smooth floors had bloodstains, and a pungent smell filled the air, indicating the tragedy that had occurred here.

Stepping over a half-eaten arm with little flesh left, William noticed that all the zombies in the corridor were concentrated at the door of a classroom. Their numbers weren't many, but not few either, about a dozen or so, currently roaring and scratching at the door.

Instead of directly attacking, William first entered an adjacent classroom, took out a few chairs, and then whistled at the bloodthirsty monsters, instantly drawing them over.

As the zombies approached, William occasionally threw chairs under their feet, tripping some of them. This way, the dozen or so zombies could only come one by one, creating a more relaxed one-on-one situation.

For a One-Star evolver, killing individual First-Level zombies was easy, especially for William, a reborn with experience and skills. In a moment, most of the zombies had fallen to the ground and died completely.

Just as he was about to achieve his goal, an unexpected event occurred at this moment.

Just as William plunged the machete into a zombie's head, a dark shadow suddenly pounced from behind, its speed not inferior to William, who had already undergone evolution. Along with the bloody aura, there was also an arm glowing with darkness!
