Chapter 43 Roaring Heavy Trucks

Howard Clark lowered his binoculars, a thoughtful expression flickering in his eyes.

He was the man with a nasal voice, a mercenary who took money to do others' dirty work, a ruthless criminal without principles.

He ran fast in the armory, escaping to the rooftop of the lab before the zombies could surround him. Unlike others, Howard wasn't running blindly; he had a purpose.

Carrying a pair of binoculars, he scanned the rooftop of the lab with intent until he found his target—William.

Howard's dark past had given him immense patience and a keen sense of critical situations. He was convinced that William held a secret, a secret to becoming stronger. That's why he hadn't left the campus despite the dangers.

Seeing William and Candice sneak back into the armory before and now witnessing William leaving the campus with three women was no coincidence.

Luckily, through the crevices of several buildings in his binoculars, Howard spotted William heading toward a particular villa.

Howard felt he had found the key to the problem. Why did William return there? Was that place the starting point of his power?

After waiting for a while, Howard made a decision. He had to go and see for himself.

Without a doubt, Howard's gamble paid off. After observing and lurking around the villa for over an hour, he cautiously entered. As he stepped into the kitchen, what he saw revealed the greatest secret of the apocalypse.

A sense of madness washed over his face and heart.

Parking the car not far from the university gate, William nodded at Candice in the other car and instructed, "Remember, keep driving, never stop, control the speed, not too fast or too slow. If necessary, you can circle around the campus, but make sure to crash through the wall opposite the supermarket!"

Candice nodded, closed the car window, locked the door, took a deep breath, and firmly pressed on the gas pedal.

The heavy truck roared like a beast as it charged into the campus.

Seconds later, William's heavy truck followed suit, but its momentum was far less impressive than Candice's driving.

Stopping at the side of a teaching building, William looked at Natalie and Lucy through the rearview mirror, "You can still regret it now. Do you need to make a different choice?"

Natalie shook her head and opened the door decisively, the bag on her fit back rhythmically bouncing.

Lucy bit her lip, got out of the car, tightly gripped the dagger in her hand, and followed Natalie.

William retracted his gaze, glanced at the heavy truck ahead, then floored the gas pedal, and the entire vehicle roared ahead.

The roaring of the two heavy trucks shattered the tranquility of the campus, or more precisely, the serenity of the teaching area.

The alarmed zombies almost simultaneously began to howl, creating a cacophony in the teaching area. Thousands of zombies flocked from all directions toward the heavy trucks.

Candice's forehead was sweating; she already regretted agreeing to William's insane plan.

To kill as many zombies as possible with the heavy truck? Collect magic crystals to spin the roulette? It sounded feasible at the time, but in execution, Candice found it much more challenging than imagined.

The massive vehicle's body, combined with its high speed, made it impossible for the zombies to stop such a behemoth. Zombies were sent flying, their severed limbs, ribs, and internal organs occasionally hitting the truck's glass, leaving pools of blood and flesh.

The side windows were quickly covered in sticky reddish-brown blood, and the front windshield was also partially obscured, affecting visibility.

In just a minute, Candice's driven heavy truck had knocked down dozens of zombies, and due to her need to control the speed, now hundreds of zombies were trailing behind her, on both side, and even in front of the vehicle!

If she were driving at full speed, Candice would be more at ease, as it would take thousands of zombies in front of the truck to stop it.

But now, to attract the zombies' attention, the heavy truck wasn't speeding too much. If several zombies got caught under the vehicle at once, the entire body might get stuck.

Candice could hardly imagine the consequences if such a situation were to occur.

A sea of zombies engulfed the heavy truck and herself.

Instinctively, she glanced back in the rearview mirror, and in the slightly stained mirror, a monstrous figure was roaring toward her!

Yes, a monster. That was the only feeling Candice had after seeing this heavy truck.

The angle at which the heavy truck was traveling was different from the one Candice was driving. It followed a slightly curved path, but its speed was astonishing. Even if it took a detour, it was gradually closing in on her vehicle.

Every slight turn of the trailing heavy truck swallowed up several, even dozens of zombies. The sound of the giant wheels crushing bones and flesh, even with the windows closed, was chillingly clear.

It was a hair-raising sound.

Candice also saw the trailing heavy truck plow through the group of zombies behind her car, hundreds of zombies falling like cutting wheat, crushed under the vehicle. What was more astonishing was that the trailing heavy truck would suddenly brake, tilting as if it would flip over, but after smashing countless zombie heads like iron boxes, it miraculously righted itself and, led by the front, continued to rampage on the road.

When Candice graduated from the police academy, she excelled in various driving skills, including handling different vehicles. She was confident that her driving skills were no less than those of veteran truck drivers.

However, the technical prowess displayed by the trailing heavy truck left her deeply impressed.

Candice naturally couldn't comprehend the driving skills honed in the apocalyptic decade, where there were no rules, only ways to drive to survive. The exceptional driving skills exhibited by William, a man who didn't even have a driver's license in the past, were forged in such conditions.

William's driving skills gave Candice immense confidence, and she began to calm down, continuing to execute the plan William had taught her.

As the two heavy trucks rampaged through the campus, Natalie and Lucy hid in a corner of a building, waiting for their cue.

Lucy looked at the dagger in her hand and the broken bodies in the distance, struggling internally.

"No one is forcing you. If you don't want to do this, you can leave. It's better than dragging me down later, making it impossible for me to complete the mission," Natalie said coldly, glancing at Lucy.

"We're going to dig into those broken bodies for that magic crystal. Aren't you afraid?" The refined and delicate teacher had a cleanliness obsession. Normally, even if she accidentally touched something, she would immediately wash her hands. It was hard for her to understand the resolute and adaptability shown by this well-known internet celebrity at this moment.
