Chapter 156 Making Human Puppetry

This was the dumping ground for bodies at Hope Base.

Every day, people at the base tossed the dead here. Since this funnel-shaped pit was built on a high platform and enclosed within a sturdy workshop, there was no worry about mutated creatures finding it. They could dispose of bodies continuously.

In the apocalypse, having a place to dump bodies wasn't surprising, but what shocked William was the sheer number of them!

William thought, 'Even with a rough estimate, there are over two thousand bodies!'

William thought doubtfully, 'How many people died in yesterday's zombie defense battle? Hope Base has only been around for a few days, and so many people have already died?'

This made William think about the survivors' fear and hatred towards Evolving persons in the base, which seemed justified.

William set up several outdoor lamps he brought around the workshop. The lights illuminated the space, and he noticed an empty clear water pool on one side, which seemed perfect as a blood pool.

He dragged the two captured mutated cows to the poolside, and Edge of the Moon made a cut on their necks. The thick, fishy smell of blood immediately filled the air.

"What... what are you trying to do?"

Desmond, who had been brought here with his hands broken, trembled as he spoke, his voice filled with uncontrollable fear as he watched the young man's actions.

Desmond originally thought he was lucky. From school to work, and even becoming an Evolving person, everything seemed to go his way. He even survived the terrifying Knife light that night.

But that feeling ended today. He encountered this man, William, the one who used that Knife light that night.

With no ability to resist, Desmond revealed everything he knew under threat, including the gun, the car, and this dumping ground. But Desmond felt that this person had no intention of letting him go.

Now, seeing William bleeding these mutated animals into a pool, he was even more terrified, unsure if this was meant for him.

"I just learned a new skill," William said as he focused on estimating the blood volume. The initial Human puppetry spell required about 500 kilograms of blood.

William teased, "You know, just learned it, not very skilled yet, so I need to practice."

William's words were calm and unruffled, but to Desmond, they sounded like thunder, making his body tremble uncontrollably, his lips turning slightly purple.

He didn't know what this skill was, but in a place with a corpse pit on one side and a blood pool on the other, even a fool would know it wasn't a good skill.

Desmond pleaded, "Please, please let me go, okay? I'll be your servant, I'll be loyal to you..."

Desmond cursed himself for not learning the art of language better. He felt his words of loyalty were so lacking.

William replied coldly, "Ask the cold, stinking bodies in the pit if they are willing to forgive you."

William threw the two dead mutated cows aside, completing the initial setup of the blood pool.

William said, "Your turn."

William's smile looked like the devil's grin to Desmond. He screamed in terror, trying to escape with all his might. However, in front of the two-star evolved William, all his struggles were in vain.

With all his limbs broken, he lay on the ground, crying in pain, unconsciously calling for his mother.

William clenched his fist disdainfully.

The Human puppetry spell required a dying person. Using Desmond as material would at least let this bastard serve one last purpose.

William's fist didn't fall but instead, his body moved a bit, jumping onto the corpse pit.

He had just keenly caught a slight sound coming from there.

His gaze swept over the rotting, foul-smelling bodies, searching for the source of the sound.

It only took a few seconds for William to find it.

This 'corpse' was too conspicuous.

It was on top of the pile, clearly just thrown in, and completely naked. Although almost no skin on the body was intact, it still had some female characteristics, making her stand out.

William hesitated for a moment, held his breath, and jumped down.

Turning over the body that still had a bit of life left, William was slightly stunned. With his near-photographic memory, he recognized her.

It was Julia Fisher, the woman Desmond and his buddies had taken from the market!

He had already guessed her fate. But seeing her body covered in bruises, with bloody holes, knife wounds on her private parts, and dozens of cigarette burns on her shoulders and thighs, William felt a surge of anger.

'You can kill people, but don't torture them. I also kill, but I won't engage in torture. It isn't a display of strength but a perverse act of bullying the weak,' he thought.

Julia's eyes were open, her breathing extremely weak, on the verge of death. But what surprised William was that she still had some consciousness. Sensing someone beside her, her eyes moved slightly towards William.

Having seen many dead people, William knew that even if Lucy were here to cast a Restoration spell, it would be useless. Julia's bodily functions and organs had deteriorated to the lowest point; she was beyond saving.

Her fingers moved slightly, and William noticed. He thought for a moment and then lifted Julia out of the corpse pit.

Due to the angle, she saw the miserable Desmond on the ground, and her eyes suddenly shone with a light of hatred. The hatred was so intense that it even made William's heart tremble.

It was a hatred so deep that she wanted to drink his blood and eat his flesh.

Seeing the wounds on Julia's body, William could understand her feelings at this moment.

William explained to her, "I need a dying person to complete a skill."

William said softly beside her, "I don't know what will happen to you afterward, but at least, you'll live in another way. Comparatively, you deserve it more than he does."

Julia's eyes moved, but it was unclear if she understood William's words.

Placing the dying Julia into the blood pool, William took out 300 milliliters of zombie blood he had collected from the space crystal and slowly injected it into her carotid artery.

Afterward, he quickly threw five second-level Magic Crystals into the blood pool, forced a one-star potion into Julia's mouth, and then activated the initial Human puppetry spell.

His already not fully recovered mental power was almost completely drained. Under the support of his mental power, the blood pool began to churn as if it were boiling.

Julia's body slowly sank into the blood pool. The second-level Magic Crystals that had been floating on the blood also sank with her, and streams of black energy flowed from the Magic Crystals, forming black lines that wrapped around her body like chains.

Then, a milky white light emanated from her body. Even though she was submerged in the blood pool, the light couldn't be concealed, making the entire blood pool somewhat transparent and illuminated half of the workshop.

Strange sounds came from her body. Slowly, it began to rotate at the bottom of the blood pool, not fast but with a rhythmic pattern, forming a vortex in the churning blood.

William noticed that the blood of the mutated creatures was rapidly decreasing, and the five second-level Magic Crystals had disappeared, all turning into black lines wrapping around her body, forming mysterious patterns.

The vortex, the blood, and the female body created a chilling scene.
