Chapter 188 The Rebirth of the Red-haired Iron Corpse

The heart, held by the mutated thorn, suddenly started sucking in energy, causing it to swell and fill the thorn's mouth like a plug.

The fluid exuding from the injured thorn now functioned as a conduit, enabling the heart to assimilate the vital energy of the thorn.

Sensing danger, the Level 2 thorn twisted violently, trying to escape. But the more it struggled, the stronger the suction became, trapping it.

Anyone watching would have been freaked out. The heart, which looked human, had two thick fleshy tubes glowing faintly red. Tiny white particles flowed through the heart and tubes into the red-haired Iron Corpse.

As these particles flowed, the thorn's white Magic Crystal dimmed, and its struggles weakened until it stopped moving.

The red-haired Iron Corpse, which had been still, suddenly sat up, startling two nearby monsters. They backed off, watching in shock as she rose.

Covered in dirt, her once delicate features were now gray and rough. She looked at the withered thorn in her chest, pulled it out, and tossed it aside.

She gazed fixedly at the gaping cavity of her open chest, momentarily taken aback, before she closed it and rose to her feet.

The two monsters exchanged glances, their eyes fierce. They stepped back, then attacked the red-haired Iron Corpse together.

On the verge of evolving to Level 3, they needed more life energy. They hadn't spared the mutated plant, and now, seeing a human full of energy, they wouldn't back down.

Though her scent was a bit off.

The red-haired Iron Corpse was sluggish. She didn't know why she was alive again, but she was in bad shape. She didn't dodge and was knocked down. The monsters tore into her, ripping away chunks of flesh.

She observed the monster's cranium in close proximity to her jugular and initiated a forceful chomp, resulting in a gush of blood.

The monster didn't expect her to fight back. Shouldn't she be dead by now?

But the pain left no time to think. It jerked back, trying to escape.

Suddenly, it felt a chill in its abdomen. Horrified, it saw her deformed arm had pierced its belly, crushing its organs. The monster whimpered as life drained from it.

The red-haired Iron Corpse drank the monster's blood. As the other monster roared in anger, she plunged her hands into its abdomen, lifted the horse-sized monster above her head, and tore it in half. Blood soaked her, but it was absorbed into her body, healing her wounds quickly.

Uncomfortable in her clothes, she tore them off and stood naked. A faint glow emanated from her, and her injuries were more than half healed.

Now more agile, she eyed the retreating monster.

She emitted a hoarse bellow, and in an instant, her sharp fingers were plunging into its neck.

The monster leaped to the side, finally realizing something was wrong. Seeing its companions die, it felt fear and tried to flee.

The red-haired Iron Corpse, once between Level 2 and Level 3 in strength, had almost fully recovered. She quickly caught up, pinned the monster down, and bit into its neck without hesitation.

The monster let out a high-pitched scream as blood drained from its neck, feeling an icy chill. It struggled, but the Iron Corpse clung to it like a second skin.

Seconds turned into a minute. The monster went limp, its limbs sprawled out, exhaling its last breath. Its body shrank, fur dulled, looking like a dried-up fruit.

The red-haired Iron Corpse stood up, fully healed with no scars. Her skin, still grayish-white, was smoother. She touched it, feeling unfamiliar.

She turned and saw a man covered in blood and filth, with a large hole in his abdomen and neat cuts on his face and hands, standing by the courtyard wall.

His wounds were severe, exposing bone, clearly inflicted by a sharp weapon. One of his eyes was split.

What made it worse were the tiny white tendrils emerging from his face wounds, like white tentacles, making him look terrifying.

His twisted body and remaining eye looked at the red-haired Iron Corpse with a strange light.

"Hu... human... I, I need... you."

As he finished, his head exploded. Amidst the brain matter and fluids, a white object, like a mini octopus, jumped out. It hit the ground, turned into a white light, and shot towards the red-haired Iron Corpse.

It latched onto her face, its tiny tendrils turning into drills, boring into her face and heading for her skull.

The red-haired Iron Corpse staggered. She couldn't feel pain but knew the tendrils had reached her skull.

The small octopus screeched joyfully, celebrating its luck. With a new host, its strength would soon be restored, maybe even enhanced by the host's power. Soon, it would take revenge on the prey that had been chasing it!

But suddenly, the small octopus froze in fear, its tiny eyes locked on the red-haired Iron Corpse in horror. The tendrils that had been drilling into her face turned blue and purple, as if they had encountered a natural enemy, and rapidly retreated.

It 'saw' a red and white orb in the center of the Iron Corpse's head, slowly rotating. When its tendrils touched it, a strange force drained its energy!

The red-haired Iron Corpse, who had been immobilized, instantly regained her abilities. She clasped the small white creature in her hands, her eyes showing a hint of confusion.

"Let... let me go... please..."

The small octopus communicated in its own way, hoping this strange and terrifying being would spare it. Unfortunately, it was disappointed. The creature, which only had a human appearance but was no longer human, showed no reaction to its signals.

Shaking her head slightly, the red-haired Iron Corpse looked at the white creature writhing in pain in her grasp, increasingly unsure of what it was.

Freeing one hand, the red-haired Iron Corpse touched her face, now full of holes from the creature. Irritation surfaced as she clutched the creature, crushing it before stuffing it into her mouth to chew.

'No!!!!'

A violent and unfamiliar thought surged into the red-haired Iron Corpse's mind. Two shadows, one large and one small, appeared on the wall!

At this moment, William, who had entered The Land of Death with the others, suddenly felt something. He turned abruptly, looking back in the direction they had come from, but the Chaos Barrier of The Land of Death blocked his view.

Natalie, lying beside William, noticed his pale face and grabbed his arm, asking with concern, "What's wrong?"

"I... It's nothing."

William opened his mouth to speak but realized he didn't know anything. Just a moment ago, he had felt a faint reconnection with the red-haired Iron Corpse.

However, it was only for an instant, and the connection was very weak. He wasn't even sure if the feeling was real or just a hallucination caused by his intense focus after entering The Land of Death.

He lay there, eyes closed, trying to sense it for a while before giving up. He shook his head, thinking it was just his nerves.

He turned around, picked up the binoculars again, and looked towards the distant azure Crystal Range through the faintly red air. It towered over 200 meters high and stretched for thousands of meters.
