Chapter 118 If We Didn't Die
The mutated wild boars were not stupid; on the contrary, they were very swift and agile. William was only a one-star Evolving person, and his attack speed couldn't keep up with the movements of a level-two mutated wild boar.
If he got counterattacked and this monster hit him, he would be severely injured if not dead.
The sharpness of the Edge of the Moon also made the mutated wild boar very wary. This weapon, which could instantly kill its kind, made it hesitant to use its innate skills, fearing it might get slaughtered if it made a wrong move.
William and the boar faced off for a while, neither making a move.
The walkie-talkie strapped to his shoulder crackled with Jack's message that Landon was on his way back. William knew he couldn't wait any longer.
He took a deep breath, and the Edge of the Moon moved slightly.
This action made the mutated wild boar nervous, its big nose snorting a few times, emitting a warning sound.
William pressed his lips together, took a step forward, and slashed upward with the Edge of the Moon, aiming at the boar's body.
The mutated wild boar nimbly dodged the attack, the knife light flashing past it.
The boar seemed eager to move; it realized that although the man's weapon was incredibly sharp, his evolution level made him unable to fully utilize the weapon's advantages.
William swung his blade again, this time at the other side of the boar's body.
Once again, it was easily dodged.
The boar lowered its head slightly, considering whether to launch an attack.
Suddenly, there was a noise behind it. Before it could react, half a wall came crashing down, pinning it into the rubble.
A huge sense of crisis hit. The half-wall couldn't hurt it, but the boar knew its vision was blocked, and that William's attack was imminent.
It charged to the side.
At that speed, that human couldn't keep up!
But it only heard William softly say three words before its body was sliced open. Even in death, it didn't understand what had happened.
The three words William said were—Blue Ocean Severance.
A skill from the second branch of the Radiant Seal Blade Master, the Swordsman class.
He didn't use the powerful 'Seal: Flame Blade,' although this skill could definitely kill the level-two mutated wild boar instantly. It consumed too much mental energy, which would affect the subsequent plans and potentially lead to the entire plan's failure.
So he only used Blue Ocean Severance, a Swordsman branch skill.
Although this skill still consumed dozens of mental energy points, it was within his tolerable range. Moreover, Blue Ocean Severance allowed him to quickly slash three times, preventing the boar from dodging.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, William quickly cleaned up the battlefield, reported through the walkie-talkie, and left the farm.
Candice quietly crouched by the window, her gray rifle aimed at the street outside.
This was the only way to the farm.
There was a noise behind her, and Natalie came to her side, quickly crouching down.
"Mr. Wright nailed it over there," Natalie said, looking at the street. "Amazing, taking down three level-two wild boars and four level-one wild boars alone in just a few minutes."
"It's not that he's amazing; you just worship him too much," came the response.
Lucy, who had been lurking there, teased Natalie through Candice.
The two women had a good relationship and spoke without reservations.
"Who was it that when we were trapped by Thomas, all she could think of was Mr. Wright?" Natalie fired back immediately, making Lucy blush.
"I didn't mean it like that," Lucy, not as eloquent as Natalie, clumsily explained, "I just meant I was hoping he would show up and save my life."
"And then you'd marry him?" Natalie teased.
Lucy replied bashfully, "Why are you so annoying? Don't impose your thoughts on others."
Candice listened to her two younger companions bicker, a slight smile on her lips, but she quickly became serious and whispered, "Here he comes!"
The two bickering women immediately focused.
At the end of the street, they first saw a cloud of dust, followed by the sound of dense footsteps.
Landon and his herd of wild boars appeared.
Natalie said, "Time to work!"
Natalie stood up, took a deep breath, signaled Lucy to give her a shield, and then pressed her body against the window, ready to jump down from the second floor at any moment.
Looking at the approaching herd of wild boars outside, Natalie suddenly muttered, "Damn, if I die today, I'll still be a virgin."
The atmosphere in the room instantly lightened, and Candice couldn't help but glare at Natalie with a smile before refocusing.
Lucy gave Natalie an Air Shield, blushing as she said, "You're so improper."
Landon was getting closer, already feeling that all his Battle Pets left at home were dead, his heart aching.
He had done many immoral and even conscience-betraying things to evolve these Battle Pets, dreaming of one day dominating the world with them.
But in just a short time, more than twenty had died! More than twenty out of seventy! Almost a third gone!
However, Landon didn't slow down despite the death of all the Battle Pets at the farm. He was close to home now, determined to corner the killer there and kill him bit by bit!
A sudden gunshot rang out, and Landon was stunned.
He then saw a level-two wild boar fall from mid-air, heavily hitting the ground, with a clear bullet hole on its left side, bleeding!
Landon immediately lay on the boar's back.
Just now, this level-two mutated wild boar sensed danger and jumped out to take a bullet for its master. If not for it, Landon would have been dead now.
Realizing everything, Landon broke out in a cold sweat.
He understood that every step he took had been calculated by someone, from distracting him to eliminating the scattered boars and then ambushing him on the only way back. Everything was under someone else's control.
In a panic, Landon let out a series of calls. The boar herd slowed down, with boars running around him to shield him, trying to cover as many attack angles as possible.
Another gunshot rang out, and another mutated wild boar was killed.
This time, Landon pinpointed the source of the gunshot. With a roar, he directed the boar herd to charge at the building where the shooter was hiding.
Natalie looked at the dense herd of wild boars below, knowing it was her turn to act. She tightened her grip on the whip and gracefully leaped from the second floor.
While still in mid-air, she activated 'Quadrilateral dance spinning'!
"If we survive today, let's all go lose our virginity together someday!" Natalie declared.
