Chapter 73 Basic Summoning Technique

This was a monster William had never seen before.

Or, more precisely, it was a summoned monster because there was no magic crystal on its body.

As William fell and rolled forward, he distanced himself from the monster before standing up again, holding the Edge of the Moon and assessing the situation.

The information about the Monster Baby from his previous life was incomplete.

Although this little monster had no combat skills besides using the summoning horn to call forth zombie beasts, it clearly had other defensive abilities, and its body's recovery rate was astonishing.

William's right hand twitched, and he felt his right arm was much better. The basic coagulation and arousal spell he had learned recently had infused his body with a surge of power, which slightly repaired the damaged area, but it was still not enough to wield the knife without hindrance.

After some thought, William hung the arm shield on his right arm.

Monster Baby looked smug after the appearance of the 6.5-foot-tall fluorescent green monster.

It picked up the half-eaten roast chicken again, wiggling its little body at William as if to say, "You can't do anything to me."

It didn't even brush off the dirt on the chicken before taking big bites, arrogantly spitting a chicken bone at William.

With a casual swing of the Edge of the Moon, William knocked the bone away and took another step back.

The fluorescent green monster, seemingly made of hellfire, had already climbed out of the pit and was charging at him.

Without a magic crystal, its body seemed insubstantial. It took a lot of work to gauge the monster's strength. William didn't dare to strike rashly, fearing he might damage the Edge of the Moon.

In his hesitation, the monster rushed forward, its large fist coming down quickly. As they got closer, William caught a whiff of sulfur.

Terrified, he quickly retreated, afraid of being contaminated by the creature.

Seeing the person who had just forced it to throw things now looked so messy, the Monster Baby shook with laughter.

Unable to use his knife or touch the creature, William continued to retreat, crushing the magic crystals he had collected along the way one by one to replenish his depleted mental energy.

It looked like he was being forced to retreat continuously, with no ability to fight back.

In the distance, the sound of intense gunfire and explosions indicated that the battle over there had reached a fever pitch. William even caught glimpses of the occasional flashes of light on Chain Prisoner's body.

Those were explosions caused by large-caliber bullets and RPGs.

Several fires erupted, and some buildings began to burn under the power of modern weapons, illuminating the entire lakeside.

Only then did William realize that the sun had completely set, the second night of the apocalypse had arrived.

With the stimulation of the magic crystals, his mental energy quickly recovered. William even used a Second-Level Magic Crystal from the Dreadram!

Having paid such a high price, he wasn't planning to run away. William stopped retreating and stood by a small fountain in the lakeside plaza.

The fluorescent green monster followed closely, lifting its large foot to kick at William.

As it walked, its feet left black marks on the ground, indicating that the fluorescent green glow had strong corrosive properties.

"Try this!" William yelled as he suddenly pointed at the fountain with one hand, and the water inside began to boil rapidly. A second later, a humanoid water elemental rose from it, opening its mouth and spraying a jet of water at the fluorescent green monster.

With a splash, a cloud of steam rose from the monster, causing it to howl in pain silently.

The water elemental stepped out of the fountain. Its transparent body looked soft, and its movements were slow, but it was powerful. It spread its arms and hugged the fluorescent green monster, and the two non-human creatures immediately started to grapple.

William was using the newly learned basic summoning spell.

This skill belonged to the summoning category but was different from traditional summoning spells.

Mainstream summoning spells, like undead summoning, star summoning, and magic summoning that William was familiar with, only consumed mental energy to summon creatures with the user's skill characteristics.

An undead summoning spell would call forth signature skeleton warriors or a magic summoning spell would bring magical creatures.

These summoning spells didn't require a medium, only mental energy.

But the basic Coagulation and Arousal Spell was different. This summoning spell required a medium, and the quality of the medium was crucial in determining the quality and characteristics of the summoned creature.

For example, if the medium were steel, the summoned creature would be made of steel. If the medium was stone, a stone golem would appear. This time, William used water as the medium, so an elemental water appeared.

Additionally, the power of the summoned creature was influenced by the amount of mental energy the summoner invested. The more mental energy invested, the stronger the summoned creature, and vice versa.

A prompt said, "Durability 30/30 for 1 minute"

This was the prompt William received after summoning the water elemental, indicating the summoning time and the strength of the summoned creature.

In just a short while, William's mind had received over ten prompts, each indicating a durability reduction of 1. The water elemental's durability had already dropped from the full value of 30 to 18!

Clearly, although the water elemental and the fluorescent green monster seemed evenly matched, the water elemental had the advantage of elemental superiority, as the green monster feared water.

In reality, the water elemental was not its opponent, and its durability had dropped by nearly half in a short time.

Seeing that the water elemental he had summoned with sixty points of mental energy wouldn't last long, William's attention returned to the Monster Baby.

The little creature looked as skeptical as before. It glanced at William and then turned to run. This time, the distance between them was a bit farther, and the little monster thought it could escape.

But it had only run a few steps before returning. Behind it, several figures appeared, the same as the humans who had been chasing it in the candy store.

Scott gritted his teeth as he looked at the scene in the plaza. He sneered, "As expected, it is destined to be mine! Kill them!"

Before he finished speaking, he and his men started shooting, some aiming at the Monster Baby, some at William, and even someone fired a shot at the grappling fluorescent green monster and water elemental.

William deftly rolled and hid behind a statue next to the fountain, feeling frustrated.

In the time he had been delayed, these people had caught up again. He couldn't yet be immune to ordinary firearms. Without creating some distance, these people posed a significant threat to him.

But could he just watch the Monster Baby get killed and have the Sack of Abundance taken away?

All his efforts would be in vain!

Without hesitation, William pulled out a gun he had taken from the candy store, pushed off with his feet, and flew sideways, firing two shots in the blink of an eye.

Two figures fell to the ground while the others scrambled for cover, too scared to continue attacking.

William quickly got up, shooting as he rushed to the Monster Baby's side and grabbed it!
