Chapter 234 Our Boss Said

Michelle stood 60 feet away from the roulette wheel, staring at the board with a calm expression, lost in thought.

Behind her stood all the battle-ready soldiers!

In East Hill Village, Spencer and his men kept their distance, wary. Compared to Michelle, who stood confidently at the forefront, his expression was far less composed.

Ever since learning that Cloud Peak Manor had attacked Spring Harvest Granary, Spencer had been tempted, his mind racing with various thoughts, mostly negative.

But he didn't see anything wrong with that. In a post-apocalyptic world, what good could come from being weak? Weakness meant being trampled, maybe even killed. If Cloud Peak Manor hadn't been strong enough to hold onto those grains, someone else would have taken them. Why not him?

Coincidentally, while he was still dealing with the aftermath of the armory battle, people from Cloud Peak Manor came knocking.

While negotiating with a man named Brian, Spencer used some tricks to bribe one of Brian's subordinates and gathered some intel on Cloud Peak Manor.

Although Spencer had farmed all his life, he was smart, as evidenced by his leadership of East Hill Village both in peaceful times and in the apocalypse.

From the intel, he learned that Cloud Peak Manor had suffered heavy losses in the granary battle, with only about twenty Evolving persons left.

He didn't think much of twenty Evolving persons.

Thanks to two roulette wheels and ample food reserves, he had accumulated quite a bit over the past two months. Even though some people died in the armory battle, the village still had over sixty Evolving persons.

Spencer and a villager with a Craftsman profession were both two-star Evolving persons.

As a result, Spencer wasn't afraid of Cloud Peak Manor, whose number of Evolving persons was less than a third of his.

Moreover, Brian and the five Evolving persons he brought were included in the count. So, Cloud Peak Manor had only about ten Evolving persons left. What was there to fear?

So, Spencer decisively ordered the detention of Brian and his men, demanding Cloud Peak Manor trade food for their release.

Spencer wasn't afraid at all. Either Cloud Peak Manor would trade food to ransom their people, or they wouldn't care about the detained, and he would attack them. The result would be the same.

Once the situation was settled, East Hill Village's strength would soar. At that point, he could surpass the Lowe Family and Tech City warband and even contend with the Accraville City Prison.

But what he didn't expect was that Cloud Peak Manor showed up, demanding the release of their people and making it clear they were ready to fight.

When Spencer, who had previously mocked them for overestimating themselves, saw their team, his heart sank.

The intel was wrong!

Aside from the second-level Battle Pet mentioned in the intel, Spencer also spotted two two-star Evolving persons in the crowd!

In other words, this small team already had three second-level Evolving persons! And its hadn't even shown up.

Four second-level Evolving persons made Spencer's heart skip a beat.

As a second-level Evolving person, Spencer knew the vast difference between a first-level and a second-level Evolving person. In terms of high-end combat power alone, East Hill Village was outmatched.

Spencer wished he could kill the informant he had bribed.

Weren't there supposed to be only about ten Evolving persons left in Cloud Peak Manor? But there were over fifty!

Aside from the five Evolving persons he had detained or those left to guard Cloud Peak Manor, they still had over fifty Evolving persons here.

So, their number of Evolving persons was on par with East Hill Village, maybe even a few more.

Moreover, the people from Cloud Peak Manor were about two hundred armed men, and most of them carried gray-level iron spears. How could anyone survive against nearly two hundred gray-level weapons?

Moreover, the leading ten Evolving persons each had a gun and a while-level Warblade on their backs. Spencer hid his Bowl of a Pipe behind him, feeling ashamed of the weapon he once took pride in.

East Hill Village had its own Craftsman. Seeing the situation on the other side, Spencer could guess that Cloud Peak Manor also had a Craftsman, and one of a higher professional level!

Was this a weak team?

Spencer instantly felt like his hair had turned several shades whiter.

He now regretted his earlier decision, realizing he had acted impulsively.

But things had progressed to this point and had to be resolved. Spencer sighed softly and walked slowly toward the imposing team that hadn't moved but exerted immense pressure.

As he approached the roulette wheel, a red dot danced across his face, making him break out in a cold sweat. The villagers of East Hill Village behind him also began to stir.

They even had a sniper!

Spencer took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and walked up to Michelle.

Michelle's eyes moved, landing on his face.

Evolution could slow the aging process, and the higher the evolution level, the more pronounced the effect. At eight-star evolution, one could maintain their youthful appearance indefinitely.

However, evolution wouldn't make someone younger. The best outcome was that they would remain as they were when they evolved. So, people like Spencer or Brian, who became Evolving persons at their age, would still look middle-aged or older.

"We are displeased with your actions. If you don't leave, we will consider it a provocation, and you will bear the consequences," Spencer said.

He thought his words sounded authoritative, like something he had heard on the news before.

But to his surprise, Michelle in front of him, who made his heart flutter despite his age, merely glanced at him and then looked away. With her arms crossed, she seemed to speak to the air, uttering a sentence that nearly made Spencer explode with anger.

"Our boss said, if you release our people and compensate us with twenty modified guns, we can still be friends," she said.
