Chapter 122 Harvest

Jack said, "Boss, we only found seventy-two wild boars, two are missing."

Jack reported the numbers to William, still looking somewhat unsatisfied from the battle.

This was actually normal. These wild boars went out to forage, and it was impossible for William and his team to locate all of them. Being able to kill the majority was already a pretty good result.

William glanced at Jack's leg and said, "Your leg is still not fully healed even with the Restoration spell, so take a rest."

The mental power necklace had already been given to Lucy. After luxuriously absorbing some level-one Magic Crystals, her mental power had recovered a bit. She used a Restoration spell on both Jack and Natalie. Although their wounds were not completely healed, their movements were no longer severely impeded.

Jack was quite sturdy and didn't care much about the remaining pain.

With the battle over, it was time to clean up the battlefield. Besides the Magic Crystals, these wild boars were full of valuable parts.

For example, the tusks of each wild boar were definitely the materials William wanted the most. Enchanting these onto bullets would create powerful armor-piercing rounds, and the power generated by level-two tusks would be substantial.

Some wild boars had mutated body parts, like the bristles on their necks, which became very hard and sharp. These could potentially evolve into new abilities, and their sharpness was no less than that of the tusks.

And then there was the wild boar meat.

Although the meat of these mutated wild boars wasn't as effective as that of monsters of the same level, it was still an excellent supplement. Regular consumption could improve physical fitness. By the time all this meat was consumed, everyone's physical condition would likely see a small improvement.

Except for Lucy, who was off to the side recovering her mental power , everyone else, including David and his five assistants, and even Michelle, were processing the wild boar carcasses in a building next to the battlefield. They cut the meat into pieces, salted it, and then dried it into jerky to preserve it for future use.

Seventy or so mutated wild boars, each weighing over 660 pounds on average, would yield nearly 3,000 pounds of jerky after removing the unwanted parts and bones, even after dehydration!

It was a time-consuming, tiring, and dirty job, but everyone was in high spirits.

Harvests always brought joy.

Of course, the biggest gain this time was the forty or so level-two Magic Crystals, which was the reason why William had worked so hard and even risked the newly formed team's safety.

Now, the only thing he needed to do was find a level-two roulette and try his luck.

The first batch of dried boar meat was ready to eat. William didn't impose any restrictions; anyone could eat as much as they wanted.

Those who had been with William, like Candice, Natalie, and Jack, didn't think much of it. With William around, they had never gone hungry. But David and his group of six were quite moved.

Even Gregory and his group, who lorded over everyone in the family quarters of the precision instrument factory, didn't have such food to enjoy. This was mutated wild boar meat, which could improve one's physical fitness, and it was plenty for them to eat. There was even some wine that William had found. Compared to the days of sleeping on cold concrete floors and suffering from hunger and cold, this was heaven.

William casually ate a piece of meat, drank some water, and then went into a room on the side. Inside, Pill was eating the carcass of the highest-level mutated wild boar.

Except for that one task with Candice, William hadn't let Pill participate in the rest of the battle. As a level-one mutated creature, it had no advantage against a group of level-two wild boars and could be killed in moments. William wasn't willing to lose such an obedient and smart pet dog.

After the battle, he gave the best wild boar carcass to Pill to feast on.

Pill's appetite matched its huge body. In a short time, it had already eaten a fifth of the wild boar. William was shocked when he saw it.

This wild boar was the closest to a level-three mutated creature and was the largest, weighing at least 880 pounds. A fifth of that was over a hundred pounds. How much had this dog eaten in one go?

Seeing its owner come in, Pill opened its bloody mouth to greet him, but William pushed it away. If it licked him, he'd be covered in pig blood and meat scraps.

Feeling wronged, Pill whimpered and went back to eating.

William watched for a while and noticed that Pill wasn't eating randomly. It was choosing specific parts like the organs, brain, and spine, which seemed to contain the most energy.

After eating these parts, he noticed that the color of the Magic Crystal on Pill's forehead was becoming lighter, indicating it was about to evolve.

Pill licked its mouth, ignored the wild boar carcass, and wobbled over to William. It rubbed its head against his leg and then lay down to sleep.

William, with his keen senses, noticed that the fluctuations in Pill's body were undergoing dramatic changes. It wouldn't be surprising if it evolved when it woke up.

There was some noise outside the room, followed by a hesitant, unfamiliar voice, "Hello... hello..." William immediately went out.

Miles put down his binoculars, his heart pounding so loudly he could hear it himself.

He had seen an unbelievable scene.

The strange man who had been rampaging outside the base with a group of wild boars was dead, and his boars had become food for a group of people!

He hadn't seen the battle, but he saw these people dragging the wild boar carcasses into a building.

Miles had heard the gunshots earlier. Although he hadn't seen the battle, he was sure that they had killed the wild boars and the pig-raising man.

His thoughts raced, 'That pig-raising man, whom even Hope Base couldn't deal with, was killed so easily?

'If these people could join the base, wouldn't the base's strength increase significantly? If they didn't...'

Miles was already thinking with a post-apocalyptic mindset. He counted the number of people he saw and a hint of killing intent flashed in his eyes.

He continued to ponder, 'This group had dozens of wild boar carcasses and dozens of Magic Crystals. With such a big haul, what if the base found out? Would I, as the hero who made the most significant contribution, get a bottle of Evolution Elixir?'

Miles was thrilled by this thought.

He wasn't arrogant enough to think that he and his men could handle these people, but that didn't mean the base couldn't!

"Let's go back to the base and report the situation here quickly!" Miles said excitedly.
