Chapter 303 Betrayal
Stitching Monster came back all beat up, its rotting face as blank as ever.
This Level 4 Zombie King had just tangled with the Mouse King, but no one knew why. Maybe they just locked eyes and decided to throw down.
It was clear Stitching Monster lost; the Mouse King, almost at Level 5, was stronger.
But both sides held back. The other three Level 4 Zombie Kings didn't budge, and neither did the other Level 4 and lower-level mutated animals.
Stitching Monster looked like a patchwork quilt of corpses, and that’s exactly what it was. This zombie could kill its own kind, attach their unique parts to itself, and gain some of their abilities.
This made it both feared and powerful among zombies.
A zombie with shiny black armor on its back, squatting like a steel cannon, glanced at Stitching Monster and made some weird noises.
Stitching Monster growled back at Blade Armor Monster, clearly annoyed.
The other two Level 4 Zombie Kings were more human-like. One was covered in blue fur that fluttered like it was breathing, showing the blood-red skin underneath. This was the Blood-Drinker Zombie, a freak that loved fresh blood. The other had a single horn, skin like stone, with thick keratin protecting its head and neck.
Survivors once referred to this type as the Bull Demon, a rather prevalent variant.
Right then, the zombie horde parted, and two special zombies, looking way cleaner than the rest, walked in.
The Zombie Kings were surprised because these two had clearly evolved.
Several Zombie Kings emitted sounds, growing increasingly intense. Red-haired Iron Corpse stood still, while Witch responded a few times.
The surrounding zombies got restless. These two female zombies had hit Level 4, qualifying them to be kings.
The four Zombie Kings slowly surrounded the two women, still communicating.
After a bit, Witch said something that calmed the Zombie Kings down. Though they looked at the two pristine counterparts with some confusion, they ultimately accepted the reality.
These two didn’t want to compete for leadership.
Not long after, the sound of battle erupted from the back. The smell of blood and sweat from humans grew stronger. The four Zombie Kings, remembering the attack on the mutated animal camp yesterday, charged towards the back.
The witch and Red-haired Iron Corpse exchanged a glance and followed at a leisurely pace.
The attackers were members of the small alliance, just like yesterday. They moved and fought, killing zombies in front of them.
Compared to yesterday, their coordination was better and more efficient. There were very few flying zombies.
But unlike the chaotic mutated animals, the zombies were more orderly. The four Zombie Kings approached the humans much faster than the Mutated Mouse King.
The four Zombie Kings, full of pent-up anger, charged at the crowd.
They wanted to slaughter, to use human blood and organs to reassert zombie dominance in the apocalypse.
Suddenly, someone stood in front of the crowd, blocking them with a Warblade.
It was William!
The four Zombie Kings knew William. He had been messing with the mutated beings of Accraville City for a while. He had spun the wheel and taken several drops of The Blood of Evolution.
The Zombie Kings hesitated. William had a Level 5 Battle Pet.
Then they looked at the witch and Red-haired Iron Corpse who had followed.
Now they had two more Level 4 companions. Six against one, even if the opponent was Level 5, they could still fight! Plus, there were thousands of Level 3 zombies. If they could just hold off the Level 5 Battle Pet, the other zombies would kill him.
The Zombie Kings immediately started shouting at the witch and Red-haired Iron Corpse, conveying their intentions.
The witch and Red-haired Iron Corpse hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement.
The Zombie Kings immediately surrounded William, their eyes gleaming with anticipation.
They could almost taste the power of becoming Level 5 beings after getting their hands on The Blood of Evolution.
The witch stood next to Stitching Monster, while Red-haired Iron Corpse positioned itself beside Blood-Drinker Zombie.
William glanced at Blade Armor Monster, raised his Warblade, and charged forward, ignoring the massive horde of zombies.
The Zombie Kings roared in unison, especially Blade Armor Monster. It stood up, towering over 6-foot-5, its heavy carapace on its back showcasing its full might. Its hands had evolved into four sharp blade-like appendages, which it swung continuously, creating a series of slicing sounds in the air.
At the same time, a massive shadow appeared not far behind William. The Twin-Winged Golden-Eyed Python reappeared in the skies over Accraville City after several days,.
The Zombie Kings instinctively took a step back.
The python, looking down on everything, gazed at Bull Demon and let out a piercing cry. Bull Demon, the largest and most robust among the four Zombie Kings, was so intimidated by this aura that it retreated repeatedly.
Then, something unexpected happened.
Blood-Drinker Zombie, whose attention was entirely on William and the Level 5 Twin-Winged Golden-Eyed Python, suddenly felt a sharp pain. Looking down, it saw several thick thorns wrapping around its legs. Startled, Blood-Drinker Zombie instinctively looked at Red-haired Iron Corpse beside it, only to see murderous intent in its eyes.
Blood-Drinker Zombie roared, and its blue fur suddenly turned into sharp blue needles, stabbing straight at Red-haired Iron Corpse. This was its innate skill—Ten Thousand Needles for Blood Sucking.
Red-haired Iron Corpse remained unfazed. Its long red hair flew from behind to the front in an instant, forming a red thorny flower that blocked the blue needles.
The ability to mount a counterattack during an ambush demonstrated that this Level 4 Blood-Drinker Zombie possessed considerable prowess.
Just as Blood-Drinker Zombie's innate skill was blocked, a circle of thorns that had formed around its feet suddenly closed in like a clamp, springing up with countless wooden spikes that pierced Blood-Drinker Zombie's body, leaving it riddled with holes.
All this happened within seconds. The other Zombie Kings had just turned their heads to see a once-living Zombie King instantly killed. They immediately realized something was amiss.
Stitching Monster, closest to the witch, sensed something was wrong and jumped back. Since Red-haired Iron Corpse had betrayed them, the witch who was with it, couldn't be trusted either.
Unfortunately, Stitching Monster was still a bit too late.
Hundreds of sharp gray shadows covered it from head to toe, followed by hundreds more needle-like gray hairs. At the same time, a tangible Spiritual Thorn struck, causing Stitching Monster's body to stiffen.
Stitching Monster was indeed strong. In this critical moment, it fought through the dizziness and the feeling of being weighed down, using the abilities it had taken from other zombies. Its Iron Arm raised to its head, joints sprouted bone covers, and its skin began to thicken. It hoped to withstand this attack.
If it could successfully defend against this attack, the horde would overwhelm the traitorous witch.
However, behind it, where it couldn't see, another witch appeared. Her long gray hair silently brushed against its neck. By the time Stitching Monster noticed, the hair had already tightened around its neck, and the sharp hair shadows almost instantly sliced through its throat, followed by the flesh and then the cervical vertebrae.
The witch's Black claw shadows and needle-like hair simultaneously struck Stitching Monster's body, turning the patched-together corpse into countless fragments that quickly fell from the air.
Red-haired Iron Corpse and Witch launched their attacks simultaneously, instantly killing two Level 4 Zombie Kings!
Meanwhile, William also attacked.
Red-haired Iron Corpse and the witch had achieved their planned results, but their innate skills were now spent, significantly reducing their combat effectiveness in the short term. The remaining two Level 4 Zombie Kings were now up to William.
If he couldn't deal with them quickly, once they escaped back into the horde, it would be extremely difficult to kill them.
Hence, the moment William struck, he unleashed his most formidable attack.
