Chapter 343 Distribute Rewards
The Three-Tailed Demon Frog, a level five beast, didn't kick the bucket even after half its face got smashed in, showing off its brain and blood vessels. Instead, it went all out with a final, crazy counterattack.
Its three tails shot up, and a bone-chilling cold spread from its body. The temperature around it dropped like a rock, and tiny ice crystals started forming in the air, quickly getting bigger.
William had seen this before; he knew what was coming. The last time he tangled with this creature, it pulled the same stunt.
This was the warning sign for the Three-Tailed Demon Frog's power move-the Ice Tornado!
But this time, it was way stronger. The jump from level four to level five was no joke.
Unluckily, today the Three-Tailed Demon Frog was up against William, who was already a four-star Evolving person with strength almost at five stars, and he had a level purple weapon in hand.
His second shot nailed the same spot on its head, turning its exposed brain into mush.
At such close range, William used his Deadly Gunner skill, Shooting with Spatial Folding. Each shot was almost point-blank, giving the Three-Tailed Demon Frog no chance to dodge.
This time, its entire head exploded. The icy scene it created vanished, and its massive body wobbled before crashing to the ground.
William stepped up and dug out the Magic Crystal from the Three-Tailed Demon Frog's forehead. It stopped twitching and was finally dead.
Even though it was an easy combat, William didn't feel any excitement. It was just another day at the office for him. There was nothing to celebrate.
If he didn't have the purple Crystal Energy Magic Gun or the Deadly Gunner profession, taking down the Three-Tailed Demon Frog wouldn't have been so easy. It would've likely ended in mutual destruction.
William's strength was close to level five, but that didn't mean he could easily take down a level five monster. He relied on his past life's experience and his deep understanding of his abilities. The result of the battle was never certain until it was truly over.
Luckily, William had a purple weapon, a beast of a tool that could harm level eight, even level nine mutated beings. With the skill bonuses, this power was something a level five monster couldn't handle. To avoid getting instantly killed by the Crystal Energy Magic Gun, you'd need the absolute strength of at least level six, like Yangos.
Honestly, using this level purple weapon on a regular level five monster was kind of overkill for William.
He needed at least two shots to kill a level five evolved being, which burned through ten level three Magic Crystals. If William hadn't wiped out a bunch of forces and snagged a lot of Magic Crystals recently, and killed some monsters in The Land of Death over the past couple of days, he wouldn't have been so willing to use these precious level three items. Ten level three Magic Crystals were almost like a fraction of a three-star Evolution Elixir, and trading them for just one level five Magic Crystal wasn't really worth it.
But level five monsters were basically walking treasure chests. As an Artisan, William would also get some materials besides the Magic Crystal, which made up for the loss a bit.
After carefully handling the Three-Tailed Demon Frog's corpse, William started mining Natural crystals, which were the real prize of this trip.
When William left, his space was packed with a high-level water crystal, fourteen mid-level crystals with both ice and water elements, and a few hundred low-level crystals.
William felt a bit bummed; if he had more time, he could've mined even more.
When William got back to Cloud Peak Manor, he had less than three days left until his deadline to enter the Secret Realm.
After holing up in his room for half a day, William finally emerged and called a meeting with the core team.
Everyone showed up, except for Brian and his fourth combat group, who were still out hustling weapons and gear.
Ignoring the worried looks from Edna and David, William listened to the updates from the days he was away.
"The Spring Harvest Granary is ours now. We had some casualties, but nothing too bad. We scored a lot of grain, though some of it's spoiled thanks to the weather and those mutated creatures. Still, we've got enough to last a while. Plus, with our daily hunting and foraging, we should be good until spring planting. Making it to the fall harvest, though, that's on you, Captain," Michelle said, squinting at William as she spoke, her injuries mostly healed.
William nodded, signaling her to keep going.
Michelle continued, "Clearing out the nearby villages and towns has been slow. We've only managed to clear a few nearby villages, but the haul's been decent. We found some survivors, but most are weak and will need time to recover before they can work."
In this post-apocalyptic world, human life might be cheap, but a lack of survivors was a big problem, especially for a new force like Cloud Peak Manor, which needed a lot of manpower for basic construction. William was now steering the manor to focus on this issue.
Michelle added, "No news from the Zero Commerce Guild; it's like they vanished. But the Honor Legion is still active in Accraville City. We've gathered some intel, not because of your fame, but because we offered a lot of Evolution Elixir."
She handed over a piece of paper with info about the Honor Legion. William glanced at it, compared it with what he already knew, and then put it away.
William stood up and kicked over a large bag, spilling out a bunch of items. "Here are thirty Edge of the Moon swords. Keep some as spares for damaged ones, and give the rest as rewards to those who deserve them."
Seeing thirty white-level weapons together was pretty impressive.
"Natalie, this whip is for you," William said, handing her a weapon that glowed silver.
Jack and the others crowded around, excitedly checking out the beautifully designed weapon.
William explained, "It's called Shadow of the Deep Cold Ripple. Its main trick is that each attack creates three indistinguishable whip shadows. So, when you use your Quadrilateral Dance Spinning skill, the total number of attacks will triple, boosting your attack power."
Everyone was in awe; it was a seriously powerful ability.
William continued, "The whip also has a passive skill called Polar Bloodline, which slows down enemies and makes their movements stiff when hit."
It was another super useful ability; once hit by the whip, enemies would be continuously attacked. Natalie was already in love with it.
William added, "The active skill 'Ice Tornado' lets you release an ice tornado when attacking with the whip, tearing and freezing enemies. But it eats up mental energy, so watch out for that. Another active skill, 'Hailstorm,' is an area attack. It's not as powerful as Ice Tornado, but it covers a wide area and also slows down enemies, complementing your professional skills. As for your old weapon, keep it as a backup or sell it when the time's right to get what you need."
The more Natalie listened, the more thrilled she got. She jumped over and gave William a kiss, making everyone burst into laughter.
Next, William took out three more items and placed them in front of Michelle, Candice, and Jack.
