Chapter 320 Our Battle Is Not Over Yet

When something from his past life popped up, William wasn't shocked. Instead, he felt a weird sense of déjà vu.

Take the Zero Commerce Guild and the Honor Legion, for instance.

He'd even heard a bit about The Sanctum Institute.

But back then, he never thought The Sanctum Institute was some big-shot group that could make the world tremble like the nutjob in the sky claimed.

To him, it was just a small-time outfit that got by raising monsters and mutated critters.

But now, they had a level-five monster, and that threw him for a loop.

Without overthinking the whole butterfly effect from his rebirth, William figured it was pointless and decided to just roll with it.

He gave Pill's golden fur a pat, feeling the deep bond and excitement from not seeing him for a while.

Right now, Pill's forehead Magic Crystal was blue, a sign it had hit level five.

Darryl didn't just take all the remaining Blood of Evolution from William; his departure also took a chunk of his hopes.

Seeing the faint red dot in the blue Magic Crystal on Pill's face, William knew Pill was getting closer to level six, even if it wasn't there yet.

The Thunder Beast froze when it saw an equal-level opponent. It was already on edge, but now it looked downright cautious, with a hint of fear in its bloodshot eyes.

Even though Pill was smaller, the Thunder Beast sensed danger.

Pill now stood taller than William. As it evolved, its body grew bigger, though it wasn't a hard rule.

After some affectionate moments with William, Pill's eyes locked onto the Thunder Beast. The rapid two-level jump made it eager to show off.

With William, Pill was a loyal, well-behaved dog. But against enemies, it was a fierce killer.

Maybe it was because William was there, or maybe it was just itching for a fight after evolving, Pill didn't think twice before barking wildly and lunging at the Thunder Beast.

The Thunder Beast bared its teeth and roared, drooling foul-smelling saliva, then charged forward without hesitation.

The two level-five mutants clashed with intense skills.

Pill expertly used its upgraded Fine Needle and Dense Thread. Sharp golden hairs shot through the air, aiming for the Thunder Beast's vital spots—eyes, heart, abdomen, and even groin. The hairs moved so fast the Thunder Beast could barely dodge.

As Pill charged, metallic thorns occasionally burst from the ground, seven feet tall and as thick as a fist, striking fear into anyone who saw them.

This was Jungle Thorn, an innate skill Pill mastered during its level-three evolution.

The Thunder Beast wasn't backing down. Its bear-like body didn't dodge; instead, its paws swung rapidly, shooting lightning from its palms to strike the golden hair needles.

A gray-black cloud appeared above the Thunder Beast's head, about 270 square feet, following it and occasionally releasing thick lightning bolts that shattered the ground and destroyed the asphalt road.

The two mutants, each with their continuous damage skills, went head-to-head.

Pill's sharp teeth ripped a nasty gash in the Thunder Beast, spraying crimson blood everywhere. But the Thunder Beast's massive paw smacked Pill, sending its seven-foot-tall body crashing to the ground, blood oozing from its mouth and nose.

Thick metallic thorns pierced the Thunder Beast's paw and butt, slicing through its fur, while lightning zapped Pill's body, making a crackling sound and dimming its golden fur.

The two beasts swiped at each other again, leaving fresh wounds before backing off.

Distinct roars echoed from their throats, and now, evenly matched, they were more cautious of each other.

At level five, their smarts were on par with humans. Their instincts might be different, but their combat sense sometimes even outdid human survivors.

The roar of airplanes overhead was getting on William's nerves. He couldn't hit a plane at that altitude yet, so he had to let it strut around up there.

Holding the Edge of the Moon, William stepped forward. He had a good sense of Pill's strength after its evolution, so there was no need to let it fight to the death.

Sensing William's intention to help, Pill barked twice at him. William paused, thought for a moment, and nodded.

Pill didn't want him to step in; it wanted to handle the enemy itself.

As Battle Pets evolved, they got more self-aware. They stayed loyal but started showing more independence, which wasn't a bad thing. It meant they were getting stronger.

William took a few steps back but stayed close enough to jump in if needed. He'd let Pill fight its heart out but wouldn't let it get seriously hurt.

After all, it was the top dog at Cloud Peak Manor, raised with a ton of precious Blood of Evolution!

Holding a sniper rifle, William aimed at the airplane in the sky. At this distance, his sniper rifle and white bullets couldn't hit the high-altitude plane, but he could at least keep the pilot from lowering altitude and messing with Pill. Since Pill wanted a fair one-on-one fight, he'd make sure it stayed that way.

After a brief standoff, the two beasts clashed again.

Not far from the wide intersection, the three Lords of the Zero Commerce Guild stood in front of a giant diamond-shaped mirror over ten feet tall. The mirror showed a real-time image of the distant battle.

"Level-five mutated beings, four-star Evolving person, what a powerful combination," Chloe, wearing a mask, sighed softly, unclear if it was admiration or regret. "But this 'Reflective Shadow' is really something. Brody left you a good thing. You used it to get the latest info when that giant roulette appeared, right?"

Quincy nodded.

"Now, I kinda get why you failed," Finnegan suddenly said, making Quincy's expression complicated.

"These two level-five monsters are about to decide the winner. It's a pity that this four-star Evolving person is still unscathed," Chloe said, watching the battle on the white-level Reflective Shadow.

Quincy raised an eyebrow and said in a deep voice, "The fight between these two level-five mutated beings should end in mutual destruction. It shouldn't be a problem for the three of us, along with six hundred warriors, to handle a four-star Evolving person."

The other two Lords nodded. The three three-star evolved Lords and their elite warriors were more than enough to crush a four-star Evolving person without any help.

"It's our turn!" The whole team's morale surged.

But then a voice suddenly interrupted their advance. "Quincy, our battle isn't over yet."

A burly figure appeared in front of the Zero Commerce Guild's team.
