Chapter 319 Level Five, I Have It, too

Sam's eyes had this faint glow, a clear sign that his Super Observer skill, 'Eagle Eye,' was kicking in.

This skill was like his secret weapon, letting him spot targets from way up high.

At the research institute, everyone called him Eagle Eye, which fit perfectly with his day job as a pilot.

But flying wasn't his only gig, which is why he wasn't too freaked out by those mutant creatures.

He whistled at a picture taped to the cockpit control panel, then looked down and chuckled. "Got you, baby!"

It had only been 2 minutes and 27 seconds since takeoff, with about half a minute left. Sam decided to mess with the target a bit.

On the ground, Sam wouldn't dare face William. Word was, William was already a four-star Evolving person; as a two-star, Sam would be asking for trouble.

But up in the air, in his trusty cockpit, Sam wasn't scared of any four-star Evolving person.

Sam yanked the joystick, and the plane tilted, the fuselage dropping fast, zeroing in on William standing at the intersection.

As the plane descended, it suddenly glowed blue, the tail lighting up even more, speeding up. If you looked closely, you'd see it wasn't engine fuel but some kind of mysterious energy.

"Sky Walker!" Sam felt the rush and shouted excitedly. This was his second profession, a powerful skill he got by giving up three-star evolution for a Career Promotion Scroll.

Mind coverage! He could make the plane an extension of his body, turning the whole aircraft into a weapon!

Acceleration, rolling, climbing, diving, attacking... any piloting trick he could think of, he could pull off with his skill, no matter if the plane could normally do it. As long as his mental power held out, the plane stayed in attack mode.

If he was willing to burn through a lot of mental power, he could even make the plane's nose shoot a powerful beam at William!

This was why Sam felt confident taking on a four-star Evolving person from his plane.

Sam taunted, "Hey, bro, you're pretty good-looking, almost as much as Cody. But you're toast!"

The plane roared down, getting just over a hundred feet above William's head in no time. A normal person seeing a small plane suddenly bearing down with a huge roar would probably freak out, maybe even wet their pants.

But William just glanced up, moved his body, and flashed far away.

The plane's wing whooshed past where William had been standing.

Sam said, "Nice dodge, but you think it's over? I've got your number!" He pulled the joystick, raising the fuselage and tilting it outward.

The big metal cage hanging under the fuselage dropped towards William, hidden by the plane's shadow.

"I heard your name is William. I'll remember you!" Sam glanced down, sure this strike would hit, based on his experience over the past few months.

But the next second, Sam's face changed. His mental power surged, and the plane's speed shot up again, almost teleporting a hundred feet upward!

"Damn, this guy's nuts!" Sam muttered, relieved that William's move didn't work out. He started cursing under his breath.

Just a moment ago, William didn't even try to dodge the metal cage. Instead, he whipped out a white Warblade and aimed straight at the monster still snoozing inside the cage!

If he had managed to stab it, that big beast wouldn't have lasted long since it was totally defenseless while sleeping.

Luckily, Sam reacted fast enough to stop him from killing the precious creature.

Still a bit shaken, Sam checked the time. Exactly three minutes. With a thought, the ropes on the fuselage loosened, and the cage plummeted from the sky. Before it hit the ground, a thunderous roar echoed from within.

"Thunder Beast!" William, gripping his Warblade, finally got a good look at the massive beast.

By now, the Thunder Beast was wide awake. Its blue eyes locked onto William, who was over a hundred feet away. With its thick hands, it grabbed the metal cage and, with a mighty pull, bent the thick metal bars like they were nothing. Then, the giant cage was torn in half by the 20-foot-tall monster.

The Thunder Beast didn't wait for the cage to hit the ground; it jumped down, creating a deep pit in the hard earth.

"William, this is our gift for you!" Sam flew the plane leisurely in the sky, his voice suddenly booming down through the fuselage, another one of his professional tricks.

William looked up and, with his sharp eyesight, saw the pilot holding a camera, recording everything. "Four-star Evolving persons are strong, but this beast is level five. Good luck!"

Sam's gloating voice echoed nearby. With the level-five beast's heavy presence, no other mutant creatures dared to come close.

Sam continued with heavy sarcasm, "You probably don't recognize this beast, but don't worry, I'll fill you in. This is the Thunder Beast, the latest creation of The Sanctum Institute. It has a comprehensive index of 5.78, meaning it's not far from level-six evolution. It's incredibly strong and can control lightning. It can not only enhance itself but also has insanely high attack power, even surpassing many level-six beings. Of course, there are some special features you'll discover on your own!"

Sam found this very amusing. He mocked William while watching him get angry and helpless, a pleasure almost comparable to sex.

William squinted and snorted, "How cheeky! The Sanctum Institute, huh? Sometimes, being too confident isn't a good thing."

Sam was momentarily stunned, then burst into wild laughter. William thought Sam had some mental issues; he was too manic.

Sam laughed like a maniac. "Fool, when The Sanctum Institute rules the world with powerful beasts, you'll be groveling before us, begging for mercy! Too bad you won't live to see that day because you'll die today. Remember to look good when you die; I'm recording this for my clients."

William shook his head. "To deal with me, bringing out a level-five mutant creature isn't enough."

With that, William whistled, and a golden shadow leaped out from the side. Its massive body was taller than an adult human, yet it lay down at William's feet like a lamb. "See, I have a level-five mutant creature, too."
