Chapter 98 No Mercy
They walked on the secluded streets between the tall buildings, with the team helping Natalie and Lucy get familiar with their professions while William guided them from the side.
Even those without professions listened attentively from behind, including Michelle, because someone was helping them open a magical door, an opportunity that didn't come often.
Everyone had a big question in their hearts. 'How does William know all this?' they all wondered. But no one asked, knowing that even if they did, they wouldn't get an answer.
The attack power of the Quadrilateral dance spinning was unbelievably strong. Even William was startled. Once this skill was used, everything within a two-meter radius would be attacked. In the few seconds the skill lasted, the whip would strike hundreds of times, so fast that the naked eye couldn't catch it, only seeing a blur of whip shadows.
William, being brave, stood within the attack range to test it. Without using the Edge of the Moon, he could only endure the hits passively until the skill ended before he could counterattack.
Of course, despite its strength like a witch, it couldn't push William to his limits.
Power came at a cost. This skill consumed a tremendous amount of mental and physical energy and required a high degree of body flexibility. Natalie, who had just acquired this career, could only use the skill twice before falling into a state of weakness.
Equally powerful was the Light Apostle, a truly amazing career. Along the way, the team encountered a second-level mutant mosquito, the size of a rat, with a sharp, twenty-centimeter-long proboscis.
The restless Pill was the first to disturb the big mosquito and got sneak-attacked, leaving a penetrating wound on the dog's leg.
Enraged, Pill barked furiously, its fur standing on end, ready to use its innate skill, but William forced it to calm down.
Facing a Second-Level creature, Candice stepped up to fight. Her strength was actually inferior to the mutant mosquitoes in both speed and attack. But with Lucy's support from behind, adding an air shield, the mosquito's proboscis, which could easily pierce Pill's body, couldn't penetrate the semi-transparent shield.
No matter where it attacked, the shield blocked it until Candice, using the Edge of the Moon, sliced the mosquito in half. The mosquito couldn't deplete the shield's energy and died in frustration.
This was the power of the Light Apostle, allowing a One-Star Evolver to kill a second-level mutant creature under certain conditions!
Although it consumed more mental energy than the Healing Spell, the shield's strength was undeniable.
Due to the testing of new skills and familiarizing themselves with their newfound careers, the group walked two blocks for nearly two hours. Besides giving the two women a preliminary understanding of their careers, they also collected over a hundred First-Level Magic Crystals and one Second-Level Magic Crystal.
"Mr. Wright, you're such a good person. You didn't even take those three people's magic crystals," Jack said casually, looking at the energy-filled crystals.
William smiled faintly and said slowly, "I just left some deadly things behind."
What?
Everyone was puzzled and looked at the soul of the team.
"The black area on the colorful roulette is the death zone. If the pointer stops there, it means everything ends for you, even if you're a Nine-Star Powerhouse," William said.
Everyone was stunned for a moment, then realized, "So they..."
As if to confirm their suspicions, a loud explosion suddenly came from afar, shaking the ground. The doors and windows of the surrounding tall buildings shattered, and shards of glass and stones fell like rain, forcing everyone to take cover.
Two blocks away, the high-rise building they had just left was now a plume of black smoke in the explosion.
No one was foolish. Combined with William's earlier words, they could guess what had happened.
William had deliberately left those magic crystals, the only death zone on the roulette, and generously walked away. Now, those three people, in their excitement and relief, had been blown to ashes.
"This is the last time I'll consider anyone's feelings. Next time, I won't be so troublesome or waste hundreds of magic crystals. I'll kill them directly," William's voice was as cold as ice, sending chills down their spines.
"But..." Michelle frowned, feeling that William had gone too far.
"But did I promise to spare them?" William sneered, not as courteous to her as he was to his team members.
"They surrendered because we were stronger. If the roles are reversed, what do you think they would do?" William asked.
Michelle was at a loss for words.
"Don't forget, at Lakeside Plaza, they attacked me silently. When I was unconscious, they chased us all the way. You think I'm cruel now because your compassion hasn't burdened you. When one day, your foolish mercy puts you in the hands of the enemy, and you suffer unimaginable things, you won't think this way. Because by then, you'll be a filthy corpse, just like her," William suddenly pointed to a car with an open door by the roadside, his voice rising a few degrees.
Everyone looked and saw the body of a young woman lying on the back seat, a dagger in her eye socket preventing her from turning into a zombie.
The woman's upper body was barely covered, her right chest caved in from repeated blunt force trauma, and her lower body was naked, legs spread wide. One leg was twisted grotesquely at the knee, and between her legs was a mess, hinting at the horrors she endured before death.
The sight deeply shocked everyone, especially the women, who felt a deep empathy. They couldn't imagine the torture this woman had suffered, but they could feel the chilling horror from her body.
"This is the apocalypse," William coldly stated as he walked over, covered the body with a piece of clothing to hide the evidence of the crime, then opened the car's gas tank, stepped back, and threw in a lit lighter.
After the explosion, he said, "Only when facing a corpse do you have the right to grieve. The rest of the time, keep your compassion to yourselves."
After speaking, William looked up at the now non-existent 1107 and said with unwavering determination, "Those three people must have hated us. So, I will never allow anyone who harbors such hatred for me to live in this world!"
