Chapter 347 Playing Around

Wendy was losing her mind with worry. She had no clue what had hit the camp, but she knew her husband Patrick was in serious trouble.

Right now, Wendy was kicking herself for not keeping Patrick close.

The air was thick with the smell of blood, hitting her senses and nerves hard. Every possible explanation that crossed her mind sent chills down her spine.

The Land of Death had a pretty nasty smell, some of it even a bit toxic. But compared to the blood stench, Wendy would rather breathe in those toxic fumes.

Wendy stood in front of the tent, the flap slightly open, and she could just make out Patrick sitting on a stool inside.

Wendy let out a sharp scream and picked up her pace.

Patrick couldn't sit up after losing his legs!

As she burst into the tent, Wendy felt a huge sense of danger. Without thinking, she threw herself over her husband. The next second, there was an explosion.

The tent was blown sky-high, the massive blast shaking the ground. Debris and sand flew everywhere, punching holes in the nearby tents.

Connor and the others rushed over, stunned by the blown-up tent. They quickly dug through the rubble and pulled out a bloodied Wendy and Patrick.

Patrick wasn't dead; he was knocked out and tied to the chair. Wendy wasn't dead either; her white-level Verdant Armor had saved her from the blast. Her head and face were hurt, but not too badly.

"A grenade-modified bomb, not much of a threat to Wendy," said an Honor Legion squad leader who knew his explosives. After checking out the scene, he said this confidently.

Everyone let out a sigh of relief. A bomb like that wouldn't be much of a threat to a four-star Evolving person like Wendy. Even a three-star Evolving person would only get minor injuries unless they were super unlucky.

But then, something unexpected happened. A gunshot rang out, and the Honor Legion squad leader who had just spoken was shot in the head, spraying blood and brain matter on those around him.

"Sniper!" Someone shouted, and the Honor Legion members scattered, looking for cover. Some activated their gear's abilities or skills to feel safer.

Connor, Bradley, and a few other high-ranking officers were shielded by a thin veil, a new piece of equipment Bradley had gotten from headquarters a few days ago.

But the faces of these high-ranking officers were grim.

The last shot had killed a two-star Evolving person. It was a minor loss, but it felt like a slap in the face, making the Honor Legion members burn with humiliation.

A second shot rang out, another Honor Legion officer fell, who was also a two-star Evolving person.

This time, many had figured out the direction of the bullet.

"Those with defensive gear, move in!" Connor shouted, leading the charge out of cover. He quickly assessed that the sniper, being at a considerable distance, was less of a threat to three-star and above Evolving persons who could evade the bullets. That was why the hidden sniper was targeting two-star Evolving persons.

But even for a group as loaded as the Honor Legion, two-star Evolving persons weren't exactly growing on trees. Each death hit Connor hard.

Another gunshot rang out, taking down another two-star Evolving person, but now they had a better idea of where the sniper was.

Connor, Bradley, and the other top dogs of the Honor Legion, along with a bunch of others, formed a circle and moved in fast.

The sniper wasn't getting away.

After a few seconds, Connor gave the signal, and they closed in.

Every Honor Legion warrior had fire in their eyes, already picturing how they'd take this guy down.

But as they got closer, a flash of light appeared. Connor was stunned and then shouted, rushing forward, only to find nothing but a few shell casings.

Almost at the same time, screams erupted from the camp.

They turned to see a similar flash of light back at the camp, and a figure emerged, wielding a knife and going on a killing spree among the camp's warriors.

Connor was shaking with rage, letting out a beast-like roar as he ran back.

He recognized the man and the knife.

William, the Captain of Cloud Peak Manor, a guy Connor would recognize even if he were turned to ashes. This was the man who had humiliated him and the Honor Legion a few days ago.

Now, William was back to kill again!

They hadn't gone after him, yet he had come to kill again!!!

William didn't care about the shouts from Connor, Bradley, and the others. He was methodical in his slaughter.

To Connor and the Honor Legion, William's actions might seem over the top. He had not only taken all the benefits when he took over Accraville City, killed many Honor Legion members, but also crippled Patrick, the third leader of the Honor Ninth Legion.

Now, he had come to the Land of Death, killed the remaining warriors, nearly blown up Wendy and Patrick, sniped three two-star Evolving persons from a distance, lured the high-star Evolving persons into a trap, and then used the Rainbow Gate to teleport back to the camp to massacre the low-star Evolving persons.

This series of actions had thrown the Honor Legion into disarray, paying a heavy price.

All of them thought William was too outrageous.

But to be honest, would the Honor Legion have spared William and Cloud Peak Manor? After they had taken the Land of Death and grown stronger, would they have let William, who had robbed and injured them, off easy?

The answer was definitely not!

They would have hit Cloud Peak Manor hard at some point!

At that time, it would be William and his men being slaughtered, not the Honor Legion.

Striking first was a smart move, especially since William was about to leave. After destroying the Ninth Legion, he had nothing else to worry about.

The Honor Legion warriors were brave, and their combat power and gear were better than Cloud Peak Manor's. But against William, they were too fragile.

From the moment Connor spotted William to their return to the camp, less than thirty seconds had passed. In those thirty seconds, the camp was once again drenched in blood, nearly a hundred Honor Legion warriors killed, and the number was still climbing fast.

"I'll kill you! Drop dead!" A shrill scream came from behind William. Wendy, who had been in a daze, had snapped out of it. Facing this enemy she had never met, she attacked with everything she had.
