Chapter 276 The Resistance of the People in Accraville City
William's words painted some pretty gnarly pictures in everyone's heads—blood, twisted faces, the whole nine yards.
Maybe these folks would be at each other's throats the second they left the room, turning into sworn enemies in no time.
But right now, their attention was laser-focused on Quincy, their gazes a mixture of apprehension and burgeoning rage.
Sure, the Zero Commerce Guild was all mysterious and stuff, but in a city crawling with mutated creatures, human activity was pretty limited. If people were doing things, there'd be signs. Plenty of groups knew about the Guild, and some might've even dealt with them.
The Guild's Evolution Elixir trade was booming. A lot of people got their skills or professions through these trades, and some groups might even be trading partners with the Guild.
But that didn't mean they were cool with what the Guild was up to.
If William was telling the truth, then Quincy and his ilk were not just competitors, not just rivals vying for power and resources.
"Enemy!" That word popped into everyone's head.
If it was true, Quincy was the enemy.
Feeding zombies to get Magic Crystals for evolution? That was some seriously messed up stuff.
"That's why they call us pigs. I don't care what you decide today, but I'm taking down as many as I can."
William's eyes locked onto Quincy, ignoring Hayden who was in his way. The tension between them was thick enough to cut with a knife.
William had thrown down the gauntlet. Quincy couldn't let someone who knew their secrets walk away. He needed to find out how William got the dirt on the Zero Commerce Guild. Only one of them was walking out of here alive.
"Pigs, let me show you the real power of the Zero Commerce Guild." Quincy raised his right hand, and a guy by the window stuck his hand out, shooting a silent flame into the sky.
In seconds, figures were rappelling down from every window, smashing through the glass and storming the building.
The fight kicked off instantly.
The various groups, who thought they had the numbers, quickly lost their edge as the Zero Commerce Guild members jumped into the fray.
"There are so many two-star Evolving people!"
"And the rest are one-star Evolving people."
"Kill them!"
Shouts filled the air as the seemingly ordinary but super powerful Guild members tore into the elites of Accraville City. They fought like demons, perfectly coordinated and brutally efficient. Within moments, many of Accraville's best were down. If the Guild didn't need them alive, the body count would've been through the roof.
The attackers were well-trained warriors from the Zero Commerce Guild, and they came ready, quickly taking control.
William and Hayden were already going at it.
One had a knife, the other an axe. They didn't clash weapons, but every strike was aimed to kill, their moves lightning-fast.
Both were three-star Evolving people, but William was a cut above the rest. Anyone else would've been toast by now.
But Hayden was a Weapon Maestro, a pro with axes, giving him a natural edge in weapon combat, letting him hold his own against William for this long.
With a clang, their weapons finally met. William's Edge of the Moon stayed solid, while Hayden's battleaxe shattered.
"Nice knife," Hayden said, tossing the broken axe aside and pulling out two white-grade daggers from his waist.
"Dagger Mastery. Let's see what you've got.!"
Hayden's eyes lit up with battle intent; it had been a while since he had this much fun in a fight.
But William just pursed his lips and said, "No time," making Hayden's face fall.
Meanwhile, Chester was squaring off with Quincy.
Chester hadn't brought the whole Mercy Vanguard warband today, but the Void's Team below was his elite squad, representing a quarter of his force. He couldn't just stand by while they got wiped out.
Plus, Chester never saw William as the main player. As the leader of Accraville City, it was his job to take down Quincy.
"You're not my match," Quincy said, arms crossed, looking like a cartoon character. "Actually, we don't have to fight. You're the leader of Accraville City's top force. If we team up, it could be a win-win."
The Zero Commerce Guild didn't want bodies; they needed groups to work for them. Accraville City was Quincy's turf, and he needed to set up his own system.
"Team up with you? Feed our people to zombies?" Chester sneered, his body swaying as his aura grew stronger.
Quincy shook his head, and the Wolf Spirit circled him, speeding up.
"That's a pity." Quincy lowered his hands, and the Wolf Spirit let out a piercing howl, charging at Chester like a bolt of lightning.
If anyone in the room was important besides William, who had just blown the lid off the Zero Commerce Guild's secrets, it was Chester. If Chester went down, the morale of Accraville City's elites would tank.
These two were the only ones Quincy thought were worth his effort.
The Wolf Spirit was fast and fierce, but Chester activated his 'Copper Fist' profession, sending a barrage of punches at Quincy.
The punches and the Wolf Spirit collided in mid-air, both sides freezing for a moment before scattering.
Sweat dripped from Chester's forehead, and his bronze-colored fists showed hints of green. The intense pain made him step back; he hadn't expected the Wolf Spirit to be so corrosive.
Quincy was also a bit tense; his Wolf Spirit rarely failed.
"Not bad." Quincy moved his hands, and white bone spikes extended from his palms, looking like Wolverine's claws but sharper and tipped with a deadly blue hue.
"White bone thorn!" With 8-inch bone spikes on his hands, Quincy launched his attack, and the Wolf Spirit, recovering from the clash, followed its master.
Standing 6 feet tall and moving at dazzling speed, Quincy forced Chester to retreat in terror, but he still got hit by the bone spikes. Two Wolf Spirits also bit into his shoulder, drawing blood.
"You're doomed!" Quincy licked the blood off the bone spikes, his eyes filled with madness.
Feeling something wreaking havoc inside him, Chester knew he was hit. The bone spikes must have something that weakened or even killed him.
His gaze swept around as his heart sank.
But Chester was still Accraville City's strongest. With a roar, his body began to change color, a layer of gold covering his skin.
"The Gilded Form!"
