Chapter 22 White Weapons
Gathering and Refining Art, Homogeneous Strengthening Art, Forging Art, Enchantment Art, Embedding Art.
Perplexed, William found his answers in the parchment scroll; the five regions on the professional emblem surprisingly represented these five occupational abilities.
It suddenly dawned on William that this might be the ultimate meaning of an Honorable Artisan.
One profession with five occupational abilities?!
In his previous life, he had never heard of such a thing.
For instance, his previous main profession as a marksman involved progressing from an apprentice marksman to a senior marksman. How could there be so many?
However, despite his astonishment, William was pleased; after all, the more occupational abilities one had, the stronger their profession would be.
He thoroughly read the introduction about the Honorable Artisan on the parchment scroll, leaving William both surprised and delighted.
On the one hand, he was delighted because if the Honorable Artisan was indeed as described on the parchment scroll, it could truly be considered a rare profession, perhaps even unique.
On the other hand, he was surprised by how challenging it was to level up!
When someone else's professional proficiency was enough, they only needed a promotion scroll to level up, while William needed six as an Honorable Artisan! Five of them were for the five skills, and one was for the total level.
William felt somewhat helpless; in his previous life, he had only used five promotion scrolls in total. The first three upgraded his archery from apprentice to senior level, and the last two upgraded his swordsmanship from apprentice to senior level. However, this secondary profession of Honorable Artisan unexpectedly had five skills that needed to be fully mastered for promotion. This meant that William not only needed to prepare six promotion scrolls for each level up but also spend five times the time to practice and master all the skills!
William felt so pain, thinking, 'Is this a hellish leveling mode?'
Now, a question lay before William, should he learn this difficult-to-promote secondary profession or not?
Not learning it would mean continuing to spin the roulette and see what the other profession was. Learning it would mean facing the challenging path of promotion.
William was dithering.
After re-reading the description of the Honorable Artisan on the parchment scroll, William made up his mind.
He thought, 'I'll learn! Just a few more promotion scrolls, right? In my previous life, five of them almost bankrupted me. But in this life, I was reborn! Reborn! Why fear a few scrolls?!'
With that thought, William crushed the parchment scroll. The once exquisite scroll turned into a halo of light and collided with William's body.
His body stiffened abruptly, an indescribable sensation spreading throughout. Many strange knowledge appeared in his mind. From confusion to familiarity and then to mastery, William felt he had entered a whole new world.
The feeling was so magical that it gave a sense of secret joy from gaining something without effort.
After everything gradually settled, William clenched his fist. The acquisition of the secondary profession did not directly grant him a sense of enhanced power, but the mental impact was profound. William knew he was different now. At that moment, he became even more certain that he would be much stronger than in his previous life.
He picked up the outdoor hatchet he had set aside. The blade, which he had bought at a high price, now had many small nicks and even showed traces of corrosion from the previous insect fluid. It was likely that after some more use, this decent-quality blade would be rendered unusable.
However, after so many battles, the fact that the blade had not broken yet surprised William.
But now, William smiled as he picked up the fire axe, activating one of his skills as an Honorable Artisan for the first time, the Homogeneous Strengthening Art.
The essence of this strengthening art was to merge two similar things into one, enhancing all aspects.
William chose to strengthen the hatchet with the fire axe. A white light flashed from his hands, and he was left with only the hatchet after a few seconds.
The hatchet now had some differences compared to before.
The handle was no longer the previous metallic type; it was now wrapped in a strange wooden layer, feeling very comfortable in his grip, and the appearance looked more upscale.
The connection between the handle and the blade had become much smoother, with slight curves on both sides to better protect the hand holding it.
The most significant change was in the blade itself. Originally, the blade had minimal curvature, with a nice curve only at the top of the edge, making the tip sharper. After the enhancement, the entire blade now exhibited a streamlined curvature, with the previously corroded areas and small nicks completely gone. The blade was incredibly sharp, glimmering. The most dazzling aspect was that the blade now displayed an almost pure white color, with what seemed like flowing layers of light upon closer inspection, truly magical.
William thought, 'A white light? I created a white-grade weapon? The Homogeneous Strengthening Art was so powerful?' William was thrilled.
In his previous life, many weapons, equipment, potions, and even food items improved by secondary professions would exhibit a special halo, representing their grade. Unenhanced items would remain mundane, like those found on Earth. However, once they were modified or enhanced by survivors with professions, they would display colors such as gray, white, silver, green, blue, gold, or purple.
It was similar to roulette; these items were classified as common, rare, epic, and legendary. Gray, white, and silver were common; green and blue were rare; gold and purple were epic; and legendary items were said to have a rainbow glow.
In his previous life, the sniper rifle that had been modified by an artisan was of green grade, already a very good weapon.
He hadn't expected that his first use of the Homogeneous Strengthening Art would give the weapon a grade, and it was even white within the common grade.
This weapon was already much superior to ordinary weapons of the same kind on earth.
As for why these different glows appeared, many people agreed on one explanation. These weapons, equipment, potions, and food items contained energy, and the differing intensities of energy caused the external manifestations to differ. William also agreed with this explanation.
Admiring his beautiful new weapon, William was very fond of it and reluctant to put it down. After playing with it for a while, he noticed a very, very small letter "W" at the bottom of the handle.
Emblem?
William was familiar with emblems; in some special professions in the post-apocalyptic world, there would be something similar to a personal signature, which was often referred to as an emblem by survivors.
One could not underestimate these seemingly useless items; once one's creations were recognized by others, they became a trademark, a brand, and the selling price could be very high, as there was added value. Therefore, many people with secondary professions were quite wealthy in the post-apocalyptic world.
The appearance of this emblem undoubtedly gave William his own brand. Perhaps in the future, he could create renowned powerful weapons!
The Homogeneous Strengthening Art proficiency was now at 1/100. William then focused on the Enchantment Art.
