Chapter 339 Chronic Death

William stared at the busy main gate of Cloud Peak Manor in the distance, and the worry in his eyes started to fade away.

What should've been a nearly perfect mission to take down the enemy took a wild turn when Yangos evolved to level six.

A wild turn that could be deadly for William right now.

That day, facing a level six dragon that was way too powerful to handle, and surrounded by intense flames, William used the only trick he had up his sleeve.

He activated the Secret Realm key he got from the trade fair, sending Yangos into the Secret Realm, and used the Rainbow Gate he got from Chester to teleport out of Yangos's attack range.

But William paid a big price.

He'd also be sent into the Secret Realm, but since he activated it, he had up to ten days to get ready.

William had no clue what the Secret Realm was, what was in it, or what he might run into there. The only thing he knew for sure was that the Secret Realm was super dangerous, even more so than the Land of Death.

The talk about the dangers of the Secret Realm in his past life was so convincing that William had to believe it. When the Secret Realm key showed up at the trade fair, Chester mentioned that everyone in the faction that opened the Secret Realm had died, except for one guy who somehow escaped and sold the key to the Mercy Vanguard warband.

William felt that with his current strength as a four-star Evolving person, he had almost no chance of surviving once inside.

But at that moment, William had no better option and could only choose this slow death.

At least he had a few more days to live, and William wasn't entirely without hope.

Someone spotted William, then more people, and soon, a storm of deafening cheers erupted.

Their leader was back.

"William, did you see their eyes? Everything you did in Accraville City, Darryl and Chester's guys have told us. It's already spread throughout Cloud Peak Manor. Every night when we rest, your journey to Accraville City is the hot topic. You're their hero." Brian laughed heartily, clearly in a great mood.

That day, after David brought his guys back to rescue the manor and scared off the combined forces of Accraville City prison and the Lowe Family, the members of Cloud Peak Manor realized that the Magic Crystal pistol in David's hand could only fire once. In other words, after taking down two Lowe Family warriors, the gun was useless. As for the Magic Crystal grenade in his other hand, it was just an empty shell.

Many core members were filled with lingering fear after learning this. If the combined forces of Accraville City prison and the Lowe Family had been a bit more determined, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

By the time Michelle, who hadn't found William, returned with the main force two days later, it would have been impossible to save anyone if something had gone wrong. One could only imagine how dangerous the situation was at that time.

"What happened? How did you get Pill into this state?" Natalie and Lucy surrounded the big dog, whose injuries had improved but was still hairless and had charred skin, and blamed William with concern. They kept using Restoration Spells on it, and Pill felt so comfortable that it lay on the ground, belly up, with an expression of enjoyment.

William smiled, glanced at Michelle, Candice, Clarissa, Jack, Cecil, Camilla, and others who were also looking at him with concern, knowing they wanted to ask what had happened to him.

"By the timeline, you should have returned yesterday. Why did you arrive a day later than us?" Michelle's voice was somewhat weak. She had paid a great price to kill Lord Ward, then only received simple treatment before starting to search for William. Unable to find him, she hurried back to Cloud Peak Manor, and after resting for just one night, her injuries had not yet healed.

"I just..." William's eyes flashed with a hint of killing intent, "went to take care of some business."

Everyone was a bit taken aback, not sure who William had gone after, but no one asked. They trusted him completely and knew he had his reasons.

William had spent the day, along with Pill and the Red-haired Iron Corpse, wiping out the factions that had sided with the Honor Legion.

No one could stand up to two level-five beings and one nearly level-five being, even though Pill was injured and couldn't fully use its strength.

Yesterday, William's hands were covered in the blood of hundreds.

But he didn't regret it. In fact, thinking about the seven days he had left, he felt it wasn't enough.

With William back, Cloud Peak Manor felt alive again. The sorrow from the recent attack, which had resulted in many deaths, started to lift.

He held a meeting with the core members to go over everything that had happened recently. There were a lot of issues, and William proposed solutions for those that could be fixed right away. For the ones that couldn't be resolved immediately, he provided specific ideas, and his detailed answers surprised many core members.

Despite the recent battle, Cloud Peak Manor's core strength hadn't taken much of a hit. Apart from the now-missing Gemma, most of the losses were among the basic members. Besides those who died in battle, the traitors had left with the combined forces of Accraville City prison and the Lowe Family, forcing William to consider recruiting new members.

William instructed, "We have some two-star Evolution Elixirs left. For those who performed well in this incident, we can reward them with that," William said, rubbing his hands. "We don't lack one-star elixirs now, so we can bring in ordinary survivors and pick the best ones for training. As for those who are already Evolving persons and want to join us, we need to screen them carefully."

Seeing William's serious expression, many felt like something big was about to happen, but it was just a hunch.

William added, "There are a few tasks that need to be done now."

The core members immediately straightened up, ready for orders.

William began to lay out his plans in detail.

"First, send people out to contact various factions in Accraville City and have them dig up any information about the Zero Commerce Guild and the Honor Legion. If necessary, issue a bounty."

"Second, establish the sixth group, with Cecil as the captain. Form a research guard team, directly overseen by Michelle. Transfer Tom to be the deputy captain to protect Ms. Garcia's and David's labs."

"Third, the first and second groups will set out tomorrow, with Pill accompanying you, to bring back all the grain from Spring Harvest Granary that we didn't take last time and eliminate the zombies and mutated beings there."

Candice and Jack, as captains, immediately nodded. Their strength had greatly increased, and with Pill's help, they could crush even Double-headed Demons.

"Fourth, the third and sixth groups will start clearing the surrounding villages and towns, and try to find survivors to bring back to the manor, speeding up the construction of basic infrastructure, especially the city walls."

"Fifth, Mr. Collins, your fourth group will visit the surrounding factions. I have some equipment here; go and trade them for Magic Crystals and bring them back. Clarissa's fifth group will be responsible for guarding the manor and supervising the work."

William continued, "I will be leaving shortly and will return in a few days. While I'm away, Michelle will be in charge, with Candice assisting."

After speaking, William stood up directly, "Everyone, go prepare. David, Ms. Garcia, come with me to visit Chester."
