Chapter 9 Tender Meat

At this moment, William's fighting spirit was high. He grabbed a machete and rushed out of the basement, encountering other mutated stink bugs that followed him. These mutated creatures, which posed little threat to him, were no match for his blade. Two minutes later, he ultimately killed the giant stink bugs that had invaded the villa.

As Sienna cautiously emerged from the basement, she saw the stink bug corpses scattered across the clean and expensive carpets of the villa, along with the pungent smell of green viscous body fluids.

Sienna managed not to vomit. Her gaze fell upon William. At this moment, the man appeared somewhat dirty, with green stink bug blood splattered on his clothes, along with bits of flesh and limbs sticking to him.

However, it did not repulse Sienna in the slightest. On the contrary, she felt that the man exuded a certain brightness at that moment.

She thought, 'Is this the quality that only powerful men possessed? How different he is from the delicate, pretty boys popular in modern urban settings!’

Sienna's heart was racing, her body experiencing a strange warmth.

William exhaled lightly. Although these stink bugs had just mutated and their bodies were not yet hardened to the point of being indestructible, it still took a considerable amount of effort to dispatch dozens of them. Fortunately, his evolved body was more than a match for them.

He walked to the window to look outside. Apart from some vague shadows wandering in the distance, there were only screams and wails coming from the direction of the seven-story building area. Evidently, the recent explosion had exposed many survivors who were now under attack by zombies.

Most importantly, there were no signs of other mutated creatures around the villa, which eased William's mind considerably.

Mutated flora and fauna would eventually rise to the top of the food chain on Earth in the future. Some of the powerful individuals among them were beyond the reach of even the top human experts. In the previous world, even Nine-Star Powerhouse had to retreat when facing highly evolved mutated life forms.

Of course, everything had to be viewed from multiple perspectives. Before William's rebirth, although these mutated flora and fauna on Earth had caused significant casualties to humans after their mutations, they also fought against powerful monsters that emerged from the Land of Death. It could be said that these mutated flora and fauna had repelled most of the extraterrestrial monster invasions, with only a small fraction being killed by humans.

When William intended to go out, Sienna became anxious. She only felt safe when she was with this man. If he left her alone in this spacious villa, she would not agree.

She asked, "What are you going to do?"

William didn't look back, gazing into the distance. "I'm going out to take a look. You stay here obediently."

"I'm coming with you!" Sienna took a few steps and grabbed the hem of William's clothes, afraid that he might suddenly leave. William felt somewhat unsettled by Sienna's delicate gesture as the future Nine-Star Powerhouse. He unconsciously associated Sienna with the role of Slaughter Rose.

"It's nighttime now, and the danger has increased. It's easy for accidents to happen if you follow me outside. Stay here and help me with something."

Sienna blinked her eyes. "What do you want me to do?"

"Watch closely." William squatted down, picked up a mutated stink bug's corpse, and skillfully peeled open its carapace with the tip of his knife, revealing the tender meat the size of a woman's finger in the middle, tinged with red.

"Stay here and cut off the meat from these mutated stink bugs. Sprinkle some salt on them, and roast them in the oven."

Sienna looked astonished, thinking, ‘What? Does he want me to handle these foul-smelling stink bugs? And roast them with salt? Does that sound like they are meant to be eaten? It is too disgusting.’

In response to Sienna's question, William nodded confidently. "Yes, treat them as food, even delicacies."

After speaking, he gathered all the stink bug corpses in the hall, moved them to the basement, and then brought them into the oven. Regardless of Sienna's agreement, he also pushed her inside.

These mutated stink bugs had not evolved to the point of producing Magic Crystals yet, but changes had occurred in their bodies. This meat was where the essence of the changes lay. Consuming this essence would enhance one's physique, offering significant benefits to the human body over time.

Before his rebirth, agriculture had declined, and apart from some wild fruits and vegetables, the meat of these mutated animals was the primary food source. It not only filled the stomach but also strengthened one's abilities.

However, since these stink bugs had just mutated, this essence meat didn't provide significant benefits to humans.

"While the power is still on, quickly prepare these. If you have them ready when I return, I'll give you a bottle of One-Star Evolution Potion."

Sienna immediately compromised. The next moment, she saw a metal door in the basement corroded by the stink bugs, blocked by a wooden table.

"Be careful not to touch the green gland next to the tender meat. It contains corrosive liquid," William's voice echoed into the basement, easing Sienna's growing unease.

In addition to the villas, the Oasis Luxury community had nearly thirty-seven buildings that housed around six to seven thousand people. When the apocalypse occurred, although many people were still at work and hadn't returned, there were still about a thousand people in the community. Even if a third of them had mutated, there were still three to four hundred zombies.

These people were newly mutated First-Level zombies, the main source of One-Star Magic Crystals. While others might not yet understand the purpose of these gray crystals, they were a readily available wealth to William.

Now that he was a One-Star Evolver, his physical abilities were six times that of an ordinary person. Coupled with the experience and combat skills he had acquired in his previous life, killing ordinary zombies was effortless for him, so he couldn't afford to ignore these Magic Crystals.

Although the dangers at night were greater than during the day, William still decided to go out hunting.

These First-Level zombies were his prey. After a couple of days, some of these zombies would evolve, becoming stronger and more dangerous. At that point, they wouldn't be as easy for William to kill.

The night brought unknown dangers but also provided William with the opportunity to remain undetected. Like a cat, he approached the seven-story building complex through the shadows of bushes and decorative sculptures. Since he had cleared most of the zombies in the villa area during the day, he encountered no danger along the way until he entered the seven-story building area and encountered the first zombie.

It was a middle-aged man in pajamas, his blue and white checkered clothes already soaked in blood. A large hole exposed his intestines on the left side, spilling out and swaying with his slow movements, creating an eerie and terrifying sight.

Having seen such scenes many times, William didn't even blink. Stealthily approaching the zombie before it could react, he plunged his machete into the back of its head, instantly killing it.

Skillfully extracting the One-Star Magic Crystal from the center of its forehead, he was about to continue when he suddenly heard a scream not far behind him.
