Chapter 65 Severed Hand and Death
Harold grinned and bared his teeth as he swung the steel bar in his hand towards the young man's head in front of him.
He always remembered the principle that the first to attack had the advantage. It was because of this that he managed to snatch a bottle of evolution serum, leading to his few hours of emperor-like life today.
The neighbor next door, who often made loud noises in the middle of the night and disturbed his sleep, used to criticize Harold whenever he tried to argue. But now, that man had his legs broken and was thrown to the zombies by Harold. He would never dare to curse at Harold again but only cry and sob uncontrollably.
The female boss at the company who used to call him an idiot and threatened to fire him—her yoga and self-defense skills were useless against him. Facing Harold now, she could only lie there and let him have his way.
And the leader who tried to seize control of the team from him—what did it matter if most people supported him? Harold broke his child's leg with a single blow so that he had to kneel and admit defeat!
Why did he get to enjoy such a thrilling life now? It was because he was strong, and these people couldn't resist!
From that moment on, Harold knew that the rules of survival in the world had changed. Everything that was gone before went to hell. Becoming stronger was now the most important thing!
So, he put all his strength into this swing with the steel bar. Harold could almost see the young man's head splitting open. He felt an inexplicable excitement in his heart.
Behind him, his subordinates also had ferocious expressions. They were fixated on the obviously extraordinary machete and shield, calculating how to snatch them.
But after a few seconds, something felt off. Why was the steel bar in Harold's hand falling to the ground? The strangest part was that there was a hand still gripping the bar.
A severed hand!
Harold's scream came at this moment. It took him a few seconds to realize what had happened to him.
At some point, his right hand holding the steel bar had been cut off at the base!
Harold and his subordinates didn't understand. How did the situation suddenly turn out like this?
"In the apocalypse, there's a saying. When you want to kill someone, they might want to kill you, too." William flicked the blood off the Edge of the Moon and said to the stunned men, "But you don't need to remember that anymore because, for you, the apocalypse ends here."
Before he finished speaking, William's shield had already swung out. When the shield slashed across the faces of these men one by one, the immense force made them spew blood from their mouths and fall to the ground.
In the face of an evolved being's strength, these ordinary people were as powerless as weak women.
William walked up to Harold, who was crouching on the ground, clutching his severed hand and wailing. William kicked him, sending him flying out of the mall with a clear sound of bones breaking.
Harold didn't die, and neither did his subordinates. To be precise, they didn't die immediately. They were severely injured and couldn't get up for a while. They could only watch helplessly as the young man calmly dismembered the Dreadram, took what he wanted, and then quietly left from the back of the mall.
Their bodies were in great pain, but they didn't dare to scream, fearing they would attract zombies. However, when a wave of zombies appeared before them, they could no longer suppress their inner fear and began to wail in despair.
"Natalie, where are you?" William asked about Natalie's location while feeling regretful for wasting so many materials on the Dreadram.
Due to the Monster Baby unexpectedly leaving the protection of the Purple Cloud War Ants and heading to a candy store for some unknown reason, where a group of survivors happened to be, who knew what might happen? If the Monster Baby was unlucky and got killed, it would be a significant blow to William.
He couldn't let that happen. So, William had to give up many valuable items on the Dreadram. He only extracted the Treasure of the Sheep and the magic crystal, cut a piece of its skin, and finally took a pair of its horns.
After fusing them into one and enchanting it onto the Dreadram's skin, he didn't even check the attributes. He stuffed its skin into his backpack and ran towards the shore of Moon Lake.
"I ran into a bunch of lunatics, and they blocked me!" Natalie cursed on the other end, clearly encountering something that made her angry.
"Can you handle it?" William asked.
"No problem, but I might be a bit late," Natalie replied.
"Alright, take care of yourself. If you run into trouble, go meet up with Lucy," William said.
After ending the call, William heard the roar of the Corpse Ape. From his current position, he couldn't see what was happening, but from the sound, he knew that someone must have injured the Corpse Ape, making the rapidly evolving mutant zombie furious.
Several cars suddenly flew between the buildings in various forms, crashing into the structures and then falling onto the street, scattering glass and metal parts everywhere. Clearly, the injured Corpse Ape was venting its anger in this way.
William didn't know that the first team member he cared about after his rebirth was facing a life-and-death situation. He only knew that if he didn't get there soon, the Monster Baby might be taken!
His previously stiff leg was now much better. It was an external injury from being thrown by Dreadram. After resting for a while, it was no longer a big problem, but his right arm was still swollen and painful, and he was unable to recover in a short span of time.
Injuries were very common in the apocalypse. Many survivors didn't die in battle but slowly succumbed to their injuries due to a lack of timely and proper treatment. This made medicine extremely valuable in the apocalypse, far surpassing food and water.
Healers and pharmacists were the most sought-after professions. Having such a person on the team meant security, allowing others to fight without worries.
In his previous life, William's battle group had a healer who held a very high position and was even appointed as the deputy leader. Injured members of the group would receive timely treatment from her.
Now, with his right arm unable to lift, William missed her. If he had such a professional around, his minor injury could be healed with just one spell.
He stopped behind a newsstand at the corner of the street, trying to conceal himself as much as possible.
The street ahead led to the shore of Moon Lake, and the large military team was advancing on this street. They had already pushed forward to the vicinity.
With teams in all four directions covering for this army, their advance was swift. They were now very close to the shore of Moon Lake, standing in the middle of the street, clearly seeing the huge black hole.
However, they encountered strong resistance here. The dense swarm of the Purple Cloud War Ants blocked the road. To get through, they had to eliminate them!
Owen stood on a tank, listening to the sounds of battle around him, feeling a surge of emotions. He pointed at the menacing group of second-level monsters ahead and roared, "Begin the full assault! Kill them!"
"Kill them!" The organized army suddenly erupted into fierce combat.
