Chapter 101 Bone Demon

In that instant, William's heart was ablaze with fury!

He angrily thought, 'Damn it, I didn't want to stoop to your level, but you just won't let it go, will you?

'Do you really think I'm afraid of you?

'If you were a Level 3 witch, maybe I'd be scared. But you, a puny Level 2, daring to come hassle me? You really think I can't kill you?'

Aside from Chain Prisoner, it was this witch who had caused him the most severe injury since his rebirth. It was impossible for him not to feel angry about it, especially in the early days of the apocalypse when time equaled power, and injuries would inevitably slow down his evolution.

If it weren't for the good luck of Lucy becoming The Apostle of Light and learning the Restoration spell to heal him, he'd still be hiding in a corner nursing his wounds, let alone coming here to exchange career certificates.

Due to his plans for rapid progress, he hadn't taken this witch who ambushed him seriously. In the apocalypse, even after life-and-death struggles with mutated zombies or fellow humans, people could still cooperate for mutual benefit.

William had long been accustomed to this; many things seemed to change drastically, but in essence, they hadn't. Things just unfolded in a more exaggerated and blatant way.

He continued to rant inwardly, 'But you ambushed me. Your pet got injured by me because you weren't strong enough. You had summoned mutated zombies to ambush me, which shows you're skilled. And I managed to escape because I have the ability!

'Since we both backed off, it should have ended there, but why won't you stop?

'And now you've brought a helper?'

William's heart was filled with murderous intent.

Originally, after his rebirth, his mindset had changed somewhat.

In his previous life, he struggled desperately in the apocalypse just to survive, buying Evolution Elixirs, Career Scrolls, and green weapons—all to stay alive. Because if he couldn't continue to grow stronger, he would be eliminated, and elimination meant death.

But this life was different. He wasn't just trying to survive; he wanted to live better, live consciously, do things he only dared to dream of in his past life, climb the highest peaks, and uncover the deepest mysteries!

With a completely different mindset, he had also felt his way of thinking and handling matters became entirely different from before.

He knew that after his rebirth, he had to walk a completely different path. So he focused more on how to achieve his ultimate goals rather than acting impulsively over temporary conflicts.

He added to his thoughts, 'But! That didn't mean I would tolerate everything or let anything come and provoke me!

'And to top it off, it's a mutated zombie causing trouble!

'If I didn't think that your evolution to Level 9 might be the key to curing the zombie virus, I would've killed you ages ago!

'Since you dared to come and even brought a helper, so what? Today, I'm gonna take you down!'

William was extremely angry. Having been unconscious for a few days, delaying his evolution, he was already feeling frustrated. Blowing up the trio and killing Francis had given him some relief, but it wasn't the same as doing it himself. Now, being ambushed by the witch again, he was finally overwhelmed by a desire for slaughter.

Standing up from behind the car, he lightly leaped onto the roof, pointing Edge of the Moon at the witch before making a sudden turn.

Throat slit!

That throat-slitting motion again.

As he taunted the witch, he thought, 'Aren't you a psychic-type mutated zombie? Don't you have much higher intelligence than other mutated zombies? Then you should know what this gesture means, right?'

Sure enough, when William made this motion for the third time, the witch let out a cry and lunged at William.

The taller figure beside the witch followed closely. As it approached, William saw clearly that it was a Level 2 mutated zombie, a Bone Demon!

Although it was called a Bone Demon, it was actually a psychic-type mutated zombie. It got its name because of the long bones growing from its body, wrapping around its torso, making it very noticeable.

People named it this way in the early days of the apocalypse when their understanding was still limited. Even though the mistake was later realized, people had already gotten used to it, so the name was not changed.

It seemed the witch had used her talent skill 'Spiritual Seed' to control the black cat, so she couldn't control another evolved creature to act in sync with her. She could only use mental communication to bring another psychic-type mutated zombie to join her in the ambush.

William frowned slightly because the Bone Demon was a tough opponent.

Psychic-type evolved creatures, like speed-types, were hard to defend against. He didn't know what attack he might face.

The Bone Demon's most famous talent skill was 'Skeletal Phantom,' but that usually awakened at higher evolution levels. Its power was immense, and William didn't think this Bone Demon would have awakened it at Level 2.

So the attack would most likely be...

The witch was fast, but not as fast as her pet, the black cat. It took her only a few seconds to reach William's position. During this time, several strands of her long hair flew out, hidden and swift, with strong penetration. This kind of attack could easily succeed if the enemy was careless.

But William was already prepared. With a slight shift of his body, he dodged the attack.

Seeing her attack miss, the witch paused, and William couldn't help but admire her.

He hypothesized inwardly, 'This witch had high combat intelligence. She wasn't afraid of me; instead, she positioned herself to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Bone Demon, so their attacks would come simultaneously.'

On the other side, Pill and the mutated black cat were already fighting fiercely, with the cat's meows and the dog's barks blending into one. The black cat had the upper hand due to its speed and higher evolution level. In just a short time, Pill had already been scratched with several wounds, and its yellow fur now a bloody mess.

But William knew his big dog could hold on. It hadn't used its talent skill yet, clearly waiting for the right moment to launch a powerful attack on the black cat.

The two mutated zombies finally closed in. The witch had a long dagger in her hand, aiming for William's chest with a slow motion.

The strike was fierce but not hard to dodge. Any Evolving person could retreat or evade before it.

William's lips curled into a hidden cold smile as he dodged to the side like an ordinary person.

The Bone Demon, following closely, saw William dodge and suddenly its eyes glowed with golden light, shooting two beams towards William's direction.

"Scorching rays!" It was a psychic-type talent skill of the Bone Demon that could damage the target's brain structure.

At the same time, several strands of hair flew out from the witch, blocking William's retreat.

Their attacks were not perfectly coordinated but definitely in sync. If it were an ordinary Evolving person, he would either be temporarily incapacitated by the Scorching rays or severely injured by the witch's hair piercing through their body.

Even the two attackers were ready to claim victory.

But a light laugh reached the ears of the two mutated zombies. Suddenly, a golden object appeared in front of William, blocking the Scorching rays and then stopping the gray hair strands.

Sensing danger, the witch tried to dodge but felt a tremendous force on her face. The arm shield smashed into her, and blood splattered instantly.

The sudden change occurred, and the Bone Demon's reaction was quick. It quickly raised its arms to protect its head and neck.

This saved its life. Almost simultaneously, the cold light of Edge of the Moon slashed up, cutting off its arms with a sharp Knife light.

"I'm too familiar with your tricks," William said then chuckled again. As he leaned forward, the Bone Demon felt something tied to the ring-shaped bones growing from its body.

Looking down, it saw the golden cloth that had blocked their attacks tied there, with a neat knot.

A second later, it let out a terrified scream!
