Chapter 62 Kill Dreadram
When William was sprinting at full speed, his mind was intensely focused. At a certain moment, he suddenly came to an eerie halt, and the inertia made him almost lift off the ground.
Taking advantage of this, William pushed off the ground and flew forward. His left hand pressed on the Dreadram's massive head, which was already in front of him, and with a flip, he landed on its broad back.
This maneuver seemed simple, but it required precise vision, perfect timing, and exact force. Any mistake could lead to disastrous consequences.
If William miscalculated the timing of his jump, he would be headbutted to death by the Dreadram. Also, if he couldn't leverage his force skillfully, his arm would break from the pressure instead of flipping him onto Dreadram's back.
It was a technique William had honed over ten years! If he had his body from his previous life, William could have done even better.
The Dreadram was not pleased. How could a tiny human land on its back? It immediately started bucking and jumping in place, trying to throw the human off and then stomp him flat and eat him!
William felt a massive upward force trying to throw him off. He reacted quickly, twisting his wrist and plunging the Edge of the Moon downward. The sharp blade pierced through the Dreadram's tough hide and into its body.
"Howl!"A massive roar erupted from Dreadram's mouth. It raised its head high as if that could alleviate the pain.
It hadn't expected the human's weapon to penetrate its defenses.
Harold and the others, who had just fled, were equally shocked. As they passed William, they thought the young man was crazy for trying to take on the terrifying beast alone.
They had initially called for William's help, but once he started fighting the Dreadram, they had no intention of assisting him. Instead, they ran away even faster.
However, they still kept an eye on the battle behind them, occasionally glancing back. The survivors witnessed an unbelievable scene. The beast they couldn't even scratch was pierced by a single stab from the young man!
Could this young man actually defeat the beast? Many of them slowed down, especially Harold, as the legend of the treasure resurfaced in his mind.
William had no time to worry about his fellow humans. He gripped the knife handle tightly, trying to control his body to avoid being thrown off by Dreadram.
The Edge of the Moon's sharpness had reached a level of 20, clearly beyond the Dreadram's defense.
Given the chance, William could inflict significant damage on the beast. But now, he had to keep the Edge of the Moon lodged in Dreadram's body to stay on its back, leading to a stalemate between man and beast.
One wanted him off, While the other refused to get off. They continued their struggle on the street.
Lucy's gasps echoed continuously. It took her a while to remember to inform Natalie of William's position and situation, her voice tinged with a hint of tears.
However, due to a change in plans, Natalie was some distance away, with many zombies and mutated creatures in between. She couldn't reach them in a short time.
The Dreadram grew increasingly agitated, its eyes gleaming with ferocity. Seeing that it couldn't shake off the human on its back, it charged directly into a nearby building. The massive force caused the outer wall to crumble like rain, with shattered stones hitting both himself and William.
These impacts were nothing to the Dreadram but caused significant trouble for William. His vision was obstructed, and the glass and stones hitting him were painful. As a one-star evolver, he couldn't yet withstand such blows.
Seeing the effectiveness, the Dreadram became even more reckless. It charged into a mall and smashed through the glass doors, causing two more severe injuries on William.
Realizing that Dreadram had found a way to deal with him, William knew he couldn't stay there any longer, or he might be knocked unconscious or even killed.
With a roar, when he pulled the Edge of the Moon out of Dreadram's body, a gush of warm blood splattered onto his face, reeking horribly.
Without support, William fell off Dreadram's back.
Feeling the pain and the relief of shaking off the human,
Dreadram, with 270-degree vision, saw the human falling.
Dreadram was ready to eliminate the human before he hit the ground!
But before it could shift its gaze, the Dreadram saw the silver blade in the human's hand flash, and another wave of pain surged! During his fall, William had plunged the Edge of the Moon between Dreadram's ribs!
Due to the downward momentum, the stab wasn't deep, but William swung his left arm, smashing the shield against the knife handle like hammering a nail, driving the blade in up to the hilt in a few strikes!
This stab caused far more damage than the one in the back. The back had a lot of bones. Although the Edge of the Moon was sharp, William didn't have enough strength to pierce through it.
But with only ribs and many vital organs, this side stab caused severe damage when the blade went in fully. Some organ was pierced, causing Dreadram to convulse in pain and lose control, collapsing to the ground. William wasn't unscathed either.
His right arm felt like it was about to break. The initial force to stop his fall had already put immense pressure on his arm, but the Dreadram's sudden collapse pulled him down, causing his right arm to go numb and swell. Only his strong willpower kept him holding onto the knife handle.
Seeing the Dreadram fall, William pushed himself up with his left hand. With his right arm unusable, he pulled the Edge of the Moon out with his left hand, causing an even larger gush of blood to pour out, quickly pooling on the ground.
The Dreadram's body convulsed violently, then it struggled to stand, but its severe injuries prevented it from succeeding, leaving it kneeling on the ground.
William would take advantage of such an opportunity. He thrust the Edge of the Moon, gleaming coldly, into one of Dreadram's eyes, causing a burst of foul green liquid.
He jumped away, dodging the Dreadram's charging horns. With the same method, he ran to the other side, blinding Dreadram's other eye!
Blinded and severely injured, the Dreadram mustered its last strength and charged at William, who was retreating. In a close call, William only had time to block the attack with his shield.
With a loud crash, his body flew backward, knocking over a row of clothing racks in the store. When he landed, blood trickled from the corners of his mouth.
But his face was full of smiles. He knew this Dreadram was doomed.
